Catherine, How sweet to watch you filming and giving a brief history on the historic street in Silverton, Colorado which is named after my great grandfather, Thomas Blair. Not that he had anything to do with the numerous brothels that followed! Thomas was with the Baker party who explored the area back in the early 1870's, built his cabin in Arrastra Gulch and was instrumental in plotting out the town of Silverton. Enjoy the fall splendor of the beautiful San Juan mountains while you are visiting the area... Happy Trails!

Every video is near perfect. Perfect weather, perfect makeup, perfect camp site, perfect hike, no other people near you, no other RVs. Is this real?? In my experience life on the road is very challenging. Overcrowding is one negative for example. I understand your motivation for showing your perfect life but how about some videos showing how things really are?? Just say’n…

My content isn't necessarily about what life is like on the road. That is not the focus. The focus of the channel is to capture and share the beauty of the world with others through the places I visit. I want my videos to be a form of escape. There are plenty of channels out there that show the ugly/negative side of things.

Thank god it wasn’t too busy the day I drove it, as I was able to cheat a bit over the yellow line just to keep my buddy from freaking out thinking we were gonna go over the edge and into the abyss! There was a bicycle race going on however, and paying attention was a priority, so I was only able to glance here and there, so virtually missed most of the fantastic views! Coming into Ouray from the north about 8-10 miles, it looked like we were entering into one of the the kingdoms of The Lord of the Rings! It was just spectacular!

We always knew Shady Lady as Effie's. My oldest son was born when we lived in Silverton. I drove or rode the bus to work from Silverton to Red Mountain Pass for a year then moved to Ouray (btw, thanks for pronouncing Ouray correctly). In 2 years, I got stuck behind snow slides 9 times. Always coming home from work. My Grandpa worked on the narrow gauge railroad when it went from Antonito, CO to Aztec, NM then worked at the Sunnyside, Mayflower and Treasury Tunnel mines. In fact one of the houses at the old Idarado is his old house that was moved from Eureka. Corkscrew is a veritable super highway compared to other roads in the area!

I had a good chuckle at you're comment, I may had mentioned this on this channel before about that very "highway" you had taken as long long ago I was on it for the first time as a kid riding in the top bed of a pickup camper ( legal back in those days ) and my uncle hit the side of the mountain with the corner/side of the camper ( a rented camper at that ) as the rock juts out in a particular spot around a curve heading down on the west side not that far from Logan Pass. Us kids thought it was a great time, my dad ahead in our camper and my uncle and aunt not so much as to the accident. My dad was not phased by a pass like that but my uncle was busy filling his undershorts LOL. I've been over it a few times myself as an adult and love the scenery along that road. Also have been on the very trail Cat was on with my full size pickup and numerous other ones in that area of Colorado years back now and It truly is a gorgeous area without a doubt in what I have seen of Colorado.

In the summer of 1990 my family and myself vacationed in Durango and took the narrow gauge railroad to Silverton. Wonderful countryside and enjoyable towns. Being a flatlander from Chicago, transplanted to Houston, driving on mountain roads was a new level of stress as I had nightmares of going over the side. I'm sure I drove the locals nuts with my slowpoke ways. Driving it in the winter would be insane, but people do it and survive. A few years ago I read that forest fires had damaged Durango and residents lost their homes. I sincerely hope they were able to rebuild. Great video as always Cat!

mmmm nice pan at the begining... really awesome and that hole blown in the mountain for a tunnel is outstanding, and the road out is just breath taking. Silverton is classic.. i was in a small town in Montana like that once in 75 i think, there were wanted posters for Patty Hurst funny.. Now think about it for a minute "as long as they didn't migrate into the respected parts of town.. The Town AINT That Big!!! really funny i suppose the fine was a way of taxing those shady ladies. @6:21 cascade, good word and of course real nice falls.. @6:39 "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place" Psalm 8:3 and yes it the evidence of heaven on earth. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork” Psalm 19:1 The landscape is absolutely beautiful. Cat's Camper Kitchen sssttttooooopp. back to the tortellini.. your bating me i can tell, i wont re tell you the legend of Venus d'milo's navel again, i already did that. :) the fog coming off the mountains at sunrise is alwasy awesome.. It is a different magic hour.. @11:18 that red mountaion 2 thing is awesome really nice pan you get a real good feel for the scale .. now the road shot was cool but your follow is just sheer drama... again the scale is just phenominal. so majestic.. its good to be you!!! < J

Love this video. Those trails were a little scary looking. Can't wait to take my jeep on them. What a great town to visit. Thank you for another great video.

Thank you for the video. My first time there I was in a slide-in truck camper much like yours. I will have to say that the first time across the million dollar highway it was a white knuckler for me. That road is a very challenging road in my opinion. Keep having fun. 😀

I was there on my first RV adventure 21 years ago with my late wife who has been in heaven now over 5 years. You brought back sweet memories, we enjoyed 40+ years together. 💞 The scenery was spectacular, you are definitely tempting me to return there. 🤠😎🇺🇸🏕

I failed to count how many deep breaths I took watching your video. Mostly , it was due to the raw and stunning beauty, but I'll admit - I can imagine those inclines and descents along the 4X4 trail as well. I'm glad you survived and were able witness an area that is a bit less traveled. Thank you for taking us all along. Safe travels.

If you haven't visited the Sangre de Cristo mountain range, just a short drive south of where you are now. And this is starting to be the prettiest time of year in New Mexico. Great, old towns of Red River, Taos, and Santa Fe.

One of the most overlooked areas and mountains in Colo./New Mexico....theyre awesome...I went to Philmont Scout ranch near Raton, New Mexico for a week long camping/hike in 1963...a memory that has lasted a lifetime....beautiful country....quite a big deal for a 14 year old boy from Kansas City !!

My wife and I visited Durango and then Silverton in June, 2021. Ate at the Coffee Bear, sitting upstairs looking out over the city. It was a great place to visit. Have you ever visited the Jewelry Store there and talked to the owner about their mining company where he mines minerals that he uses in making jewelry? That was an interesting visit, too. Stay safe out there Catherine. Love your vlogs!

OMG! I stood upon that very spot (6:28) last week. Walked back a little further to view Mill Creek cascading down the mountain.

Part of my favourite areas in the World, I love the San Juan area of Southern Colorado. It's so beautiful and characterful, plus I'm heavily into the history of the Rio Grande railroad. I was last there in 2016, and I need to visit again ASAP! (I'm in the UK). Lovely video. Thank you.

Your trip through the ghost town, reminded me that many early western settlers picked their home site based on the view from the front porch. Great country

Hi Cat, welcome to a little bit closer to my world of full time RVing. I do it on motorcycles but you are getting closer. LOL I do hike but I have never spent the night out. I need to try it sometime. I enjoy your videos so don't get the wrong impression here. I just think I can cover more ground in the given time. I leave my camera going the whole time and usually have up to 3 going at the same time. Of course I have my Sony a6600 with various telo lens for those great shots. I did a Silverton video about 8 months ago from September 28, 2020. I like your better. You do great work. Don

Beautiful area. I have been through there need to go back. The orange color of the creek you camped by came from the GoldKing mine spill of 2015. I'd stay outta the water.
