The strings variations are amazing and the most deep I've seen yet. It's probably one of the only expensive VSTs I've bought that I wasn't disappointed in afterwards.
Got colossus on sale, and I still got a lot to learn about orchestra. Thanks for your insights here, it really motivates to improve my skills and work with colossus!
Kind of amazing what echo/reverb does to any sound. Whether it be on the Moog One or on a spiccato string part. Like the playable Unify string stack you set up.
Well Simeon, you've done it again. The last couple of videos you made on Heavyocity brought me to the negotiating table with the CFO, my wife 😂!!!!🤣 After initial talks broke down, we were finally able to reach an agreement on one condition, that (in addition to all the other purchases from Spitfire Audio and Heavyocity) Mosaic Voices and Ascend Concert Grand would be my last... for a while. That is... until I watched yet another amazing video from you on Albion Colossus. You play these instruments so beautifully that it makes me think, for half a second, that maybe I'll sound somewhere close to the same. Ha!😅 Not the case at all, but nevertheless I'm ecstatic with my purchases. The quality of these instruments enhance the music we're writing. Which makes it worth it. So, say a prayer for me, brother! Wish me well. I'm going to go back to the negotiating table once again. 😂 A glutton for punishment! But I'm extremely crazy about my CFO. She's the best! Blessings to you sir and thank you.🙏
So Simeon, how do you find this library dealing with computer resources? I heard bloody bad news about its hunger for CPU and RAM, is that correct? I bought the library but still haven't downloaded it. As far as I can see, it takes up to 1.11 GB of ram for just one instance?
Yes, I have not run into any CPU issues but yeah, it can consume RAM as it is loading so much up front, including articulations, mics, including the two full ensembles (Chamber and Symphonic) that you use the SCALE control to mix between the two. Unify is a good way to manage instruments like Kontakt and the Spitfire player when using multiple instances for layers as it is very efficient at thread management.
That must have been an edit mistake where I had mentioned a Pro version of the app I use to display the onscreen keyboard and chords. Thanks for watching.
It is called MIDIculous from Gospel Musicians, I have it linked in the video description. It is a great learning tool and the Pro version provides the ability to create lessons for viewers to access using the free version. Also, you need to Pro Version to access features like undocking the Keyboard and Chord displays so that they can float in their own windows so I can capture them as window sources inside of OBS studio.
Yeah, the move away from Kontakt for an ALBION was a bit of a surprise but the writing has been on the wall for sometime that Kontakt’s days were numbered where new Spitfire titles were concerned. Here’s hoping that the Spitfire player can continue to mature in workflow and performance. Thanks so much for watching. Joyfully!🎹
@@PraiseTracks I feel, at least in part, it's to combat the widespread piracy of kontakt libraries. I due hope as you say that their player will continue to evolve into something that is more feature rich. Anyway, take care of yourself and family. Blessings to you too.
I would like to see more improvements with spitfire before dropping more money on libraries from them. Also the big knob seems to be counter intuitive for the most part, I like how they listed the effects all out on Polaris a lot more.
@@ChetaMeister Yes, their player needs to grow somewhat. Not hard to see their obsession with all things Apple/Mac. They tend to copy that style. The sounds are generally good, some even exceptional, such as the Tundra, Neo and Olafur Arnalds libraries. This library however seems passable, but nothing exceptional. Sounds like a competitor to the Metropolis Ark series.
@@charlesyateschalfant I agree. I know for some libraries you can hold shift and choose multiple articulations but that’s only half useful for my workflow. I feel like ark 1/4 tops this personally.
Lucas, yeah, sometimes I forget and find myself not thinking about the specific articulation but exploring the sound itself. I will however, keep that in mind in the future ;^) Thanks so much for watching!
