The exploration of Suriname Motorsport Park. Filmed on December 7, 2023 during my stay in Suriname, a country in South America.
More about Suriname Motorsport Park:
The Suriname Motorsport Park is a race track in the Para district of Suriname. The track is one kilometer long and eighteen meters wide and suitable for organizing drag races. The track was opened in May 2013 and is the first official race track in Suriname.
The owner of Suriname Motorsport Park is Motosur, in full the ‘Foundation for the Promotion of Motorsport in Suriname’. Motosur was founded on November 2, 2006 and has since organized competitions in various places in the country.
From June 2010, Motosur was part of the working group for the Promotion of Motorsport in Suriname, which was set up by Minister Santokhi of Justice and Police. The committee's aim was to find a cross-country terrain, to prevent illegal racing on public roads.
In May 2013, Motosur opened Suriname's first official race track, the Suriname Motorsport Park in Para. During the opening, the goal was stated to eventually expand the number of race tracks in Suriname to seven.

More about the country Suriname:
Suriname, nestled on the northeastern coast of South America, is a country of diverse cultures and rich history. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north, Suriname shares its southern border with Brazil, while Guyana lies to the west. The nation is renowned for its lush rainforests, diverse wildlife, and the Suriname River that meanders through its heart.
Originally inhabited by various indigenous tribes, Suriname caught the attention of European explorers in the 16th century. The Dutch established control over the region in the 17th century, utilizing it primarily for sugarcane cultivation and later for coffee and cocoa. The legacy of this colonial past is evident in the architecture and culture, with influences from Dutch, African, and Indian traditions.
Suriname gained independence from the Netherlands in 1975, marking a significant milestone in its history. The country is characterized by its ethnic diversity, with a population that includes descendants of African slaves, Indigenous peoples, Javanese, Chinese, and East Indian immigrants. This cultural melting pot is reflected in the vibrant traditions, languages, and cuisine found throughout Suriname.
The capital city, Paramaribo, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its colonial architecture and lively atmosphere. Suriname's commitment to preserving its natural heritage is evident in the vast swaths of pristine rainforest that cover a significant portion of the country. The Central Suriname Nature Reserve, a UNESCO-listed site, showcases the country's dedication to environmental conservation.
Suriname stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of various cultures, making it a unique and fascinating destination for those seeking both historical insights and natural wonders in the heart of South America.
