In this episode, we explore the massive building of the Baker Hotel. Built in 1929 as a large spa destination for the mineral water in the area, it was extremely advanced with cold mineral water pumped into all 450 rooms. After the discovery of new medications in the 40's and 50's the popularity of mineral water's healing properties drastically declined thus causing the hotel to struggle to find guests. The building has been closed since 1972 and has endured a lot of decay.

Don't take this the wrong way, but these fellas weren't around when the hotel was new and booming. So, the only likely source for them to find pictures of what it looked like in its prime might be.... the internet. Since you're posting comments on here, I'm going to go out on a limb, and assume that you have access to it. Use it. Try any search engine, see what you can find. No need to report back :) Anyone else wanting to see the results could do the exact same.

Guys, I have watched a lot of your videos and I enjoy them a lot. I am 61 years old and my father, oldest brother, and his wife all have been exposed to asbestos. Asbestos takes a long time to begin destroying the lining in your lungs. That lining is the thing that transmits oxygen into your bloodstream. Asbestos encapsulates the tube like structures in the lining and blocks the oxygen from entering your bloodstream. The effect is you slowly suffocate and there is no cure. My father began experiencing the effects of it in 1995-96, As he aged it became more of a struggle to get O2 in. Luckily he had a massive heart attack and he passed before it became too bad. My sister in law has a partially atrophic lung which has about 30% capacity now. The fibers are very very small and you could have it flying all around you in these old buildings and not even realize it. I know the masks are bulky and hot at times but you need to seriously consider using them in some of these places. Stay safe.

When your young and bulletproof and you think “that won’t happen to me”.... A couple of exposures, while not good for you wont necessarily lead to asbestosis or mesothelioma; the amount of exploring these two do, they really should wear charcoal filter masks, and I’ve commented saying that. When I was little I lived next to this place and thought it was normal. So when I saw these things saying it’s haunted..... I remembered these memories of mine. When I was in 1st grade when my mom would drive us back home from school we would pass the hotel. I remember seeing a little girl in a hotel window every day and would wave at her and she would wave at me. Then we moved out and the last time I had passed the building I made sure to wave one more time. But she wouldn’t wave back..... So like I found out about this about..... 6 years ago, and was truly terrified.

@Gaming Wizard I'm almost completely deaf and only have one arm left so My best friend always takes me with him everwhere since I'm a photographer :D *(abandoned hotels, hospital, factorys, schools and sometimes asylums)* *(An explanation ^^^)* We went to this abandoned mental asylum who was rumored to have been experimented on and as i previously said I'm almost completely deaf *(i can hear beeps and whistling sometimes)* and only have one Arm and i got lost? If that makes sense i didn't realize my best friend had turned a corner and i kept walking taking pictures so logically i got lost and somehow found myself in a ward that i think was for the older people like 50-80+ *(i hope this is all understandable! There were 3 wards from children-teenagers to adults and then older people)* and listen i have crippling anxiety problems and a tendency to get overwhelmed and experience panic attacks really fast, i couldn't breath or well stared hyperventilating and suddenly i feel someone tapping me on my shoulder! Me being deaf got the scare of my life so when i turn around there stands this slightly bigger older lady holding her hands up *(I'm 4'11 that's why i said bigger she seemed to be maybe 5'2 if i do remember correctly definitely a good bit taller than myself)* now I'm a paranoid person that does sometimes believe in paranormal activity but in that moment i didn't really think about i thought she was homeless because she did look a bit unkept and dirty but her clothes seemed relatively clean, she was wearing something that looked like maybe a turtle neck and jeans now it was almost fall but it was a warm day so i didn't question it as much as i maybe should have okay? We we're trying to communicate with hand gestured to both keep calm because homeless people regardless of how old they look can feel threatened and attack you and i gestured to my ears and was shaking my hands and you know what she does after a while of thinking i guess? she gestures to her throat and shakes her head now thinking back i have to kind of laugh because what the fuck do you do when you have a deaf and mute in mental asylum with one being on the brink of a panic attack? She knew because she started signing she knew sign language god was i remember being relieved like nothing because you don't meet a lot of people that know sign language but i guess considering she seemed to be mute it made sense that she knew how now it took a bit to explain because i only have my right hand and that meaning i sign slower now her sign language seemed to be rusty because some things i couldn't understand or she left words out i did understand that she was asking me what I was doing here and i told her my friend wad interested in bringing light into what happened *(He's a journalist)* and i was here to take photos of this tragic place, i alos told her i got lost and showed her a photo of my best friend i made on my camera and she decided to walk with me around till we found him so a bit later not much talk besides me sometimes photographing and sometimes saying that it looks beatiful given it's history *(i can talk but I've lost my confidence in my voice since i can't hear it)* and then she says she hears a young man which i hoped of course was best friend and we turn a corner and there he is! I was fucking relieved. But as i went to introduce my new friend i notice she's gone now listen i understood maybe sje got scared my friends 6'6 and heavily tattooed, i told him what happened and he at first didn't belive me because he kept saying he didn't hear anybody, no second pair of footsteps nothing now i thought he was just trying to prank me so i insisted we get something for her as a thank you *(blankets, essentials, water, and winter clothes)* he still thought i was crazy but i guess he just gave up and we went back and we literally searched for and hour and up for her but couldn't find anything *(i still believed she was homeless and thought she moved on or something)* while we searched my best friend found old files he took with him to look at later now we went home and all that, i was editing pictures he was going through articles and the files and he asked me if i could look at the pictures and try to save them and get them back to a good quality, he transferred them onto his computer, send me the pictures now i was editing them etc. And suddenly I'm looking directly at the sweet old lady that helped me i of course was excited i could show him who i saw maybe *(I'm sometimes really slow)* and i started telling him she's the women i saw and he just stops me and tells me that she's one of the victims of the experiments *(if i remember it correctly they wanted to know how much the human mind could take before breaking, it ranged from mental/physical torture to putting them on drugs and in scary situations)* that had died from said experience and i was shocked i definitely saw her! *(this all there was to it)* Now thinking back it was weird that she was underdressed and seemed almost dirty but her clothes were clean and that she just vanished but while it's a bit creepy i also realized i never felt threatened or uneasy. i was startled of course when she scared me yes but otherwise i was completely calm since i met her which is weird for me since i am extremely anxious and skittish around strangers thinking back I'm just grateful for whatever the women was or is that she helped me because i could have seriously hurt myself. *(this was almost 1 and a half years ago i know it sounds like it's been 30 years since the encounter :D)* *(i never really told that anyone besides my best friend who was there but seeing you're comment kind of just-i needed to let that out i was 17 at the time now i am 18)* *(what i mean is i understand what you saw and i believe you)*

So was curious about The signature of the man who painted the wall. A little research led me to the following information: Aubra M. Cooper was born in 1900(although his death info says 1902) and died in 1978. He was the husband of Velma Louise Clement Greer Cooper and father of Aubra Maurice Cooper Jr born 1928 died 1988. Mr Cooper married into a family of a long line of house painters thus his work painting the hotel even though the 1930 census states his occupation as bus driver/sanitorium. Just thought you might like to know some history of someone who touched those walls. Great explore

Touché gentlemen! I was in that hotel back in 70 or 71 with my dad. My strongest memory is there was a lot of old people, I was 9. But I do remember being fascinated with its decor. I grew up in south Florida. And the ceilings,, that popcorn coating had glitter in it, had a house in Miami with it. This one hit home guys. Sad to think we were able to create such beauty and just drop it for something new. But that’s America.

Not something new, unless you mean medical advancement. It's not like the Hilton chain or the Marriott built a competing resort and everyone started going there. The glitter on the ceiling was called Diamond Dust. This was usually blown upward (machine) after some type of drywall compound was sprayed on the ceiling. The compound covered imperfection on ceilings, like cracks or repairs. We did this kind of work in the 1960's. I believe Aubra C Cooper would have painted there in 1967 which seems most likely because the ceilings were painted before the compound was sprayed on.

good way to get in even more trouble when the cops finally bust you trespassing; "oh, just making a RU-vid video, not trying to cause any trouble, huh? Then why are you armed?" In some states and in places like the UK, admitting that you are carrying a potentially lethal weapon like a knife for the purpose of defense is considered an admission of intent to commit murder. And in many states carrying a weapon in the commission of another crime is also illegal. And if they can't carry a gun or knife, they might as well just pick up a handy stick or brick off the floor as carry one with them. And maybe they do carry pepper spray already.

Bridgette B Loved it when they said it wasn't real cheese and you can see a bite mark, even the rats won't eat it.🤣

I was part of the very first (approved) Ghost hunting Expedition that was allowed to spend the night there, in the late 1990's. We only had power on the first 2 floors (where the caregiver stayed) and the other floors all the way up to the Rainbow room was without power. We used flashlights and equiptment to do our work. It was fascinating to say the least. My favorite of all the rooms (including the Baker Suite) was the Rainbow (ballroom)at the top. The entryway that you showed was in pretty good shape when we were there, they used to rent it out to Prom parties or Wedding receptions, so they kept it nicer, and that's where we posed for group pictures and stored our equiptment and had camera's going while we investigated the floors. And I can't be sure, but that small stairway that you took *may* have been the 'hidden' stairway from the Rainbow room to the Bakers Suite. It's where Bonnie & Clyde used to run to, when the police came by. It's reported that there was always a lookout person on that balcony looking down (over the front driveway area) to alert them to the arrival of the police. Then they'd go down that hidden stairway (which was on the opposite side of that room, about in the middle) and they'd get down the stairs and away from the police. And I saw where you filmed the coat-check desk area right outside the double panned window glass doors going into the Rainbow room...there was most definitely something (spirits) active in that area when I was there, and also a few on the dance floor. Other than those 2 places and the back hallway going to the Gym area, I didn't feel as though anything was there, or at least to me. Other people stated that they got sounds and orbs on film although I didn't in the places they did. It's a wonderful old building and was still active with energy even in the late 1990's, even though the building was starting to crumble and mold was everywhere it still was quite the experience to spend the night there in the dark investigating the old beautiful building. When we were there I also remember that there were still Doctors offices (complete with medical equiptment still inside) on a hallway or two. Also I remember seeing walk-in sauna machines as well as tables to lay on where they'd give the mineral enema's. Those room creeped me out, the energy or spirits that were present at the other areas strangely, didn't though.

Ahh, makes sense why someone sprayed "Bonnie & Clyde's" then at around 11:14 Whoever did was probably visiting because they were intrigued about that aspect of the hotel's past

I went on a ghost walk of the place yesterday, and the woman claimed that there are motion sensors on every floor that send the activity to the local officers, but idk, I have doubt about that.

They were on their guards... They knew they weren't supposed to be there so it's normal to get worried.

Be nice if the building could be restored, but realistically, the cost to repair plus add additional items to bring it to code as well as handicap accessibility would exceed many times the building's value. 😞

Shit, there's an old Sears distribution center in my city that was built around the time of this building that they repurposed for apartments and shops. Never say never.

I hope people just leave these guys to continue this, it's educational, they aren't vandals and are incredibly respectful to the heritage and history of these structures. Thank you so much for risking so much by making these videos!
