Exploring the Abandoned Old Western Ghost Town of Capa, South Dakota 

A correction: my grandfather was Diamond Joe Thorne and Edwin was his brother. Also buried in the cemetery are his other brother Rufus and his wife Lydia. Thank you for taking us on a tour of what is left of Capa. Diamond Joe had the school built to educate his children….some of them are in the vintage picture of the school house. Diamond Joes cattle ranch was the largest west of the Mississippi.

Philip O’Connor is my first cousin, once removed.

Yes, Henry was Philip’s father. Philip is my late father’s first cousin, so my first cousin, once removed. As of July 2024, I do not know whether Philip is still living. I do believe that his mother or grandmother was Postmistress of Capa at one time.

Henry O’Connor was my grand uncle (my grandfather’s brother).

Are the railroad tracks still being used or has it been abandoned.
