The Barry Way & Snowy River Road: Wulgulmerang to Jindabyne Road Trip.
This former stock route has a long and colourful history of drovers, horsemen and legends. The route was upgraded in 1961 to an interstate road connecting Gippsland in Victoria with the Monaro in New South Wales.
Bridges were constructed over tributary streams in 1971, making the road all (or most) weather access; but be warned, the road is narrow, winding and rough in places. Leave your precious sedan at home and also your caravan.
Best suited to 4WD vehicles.
The short 9-minute slideshow explores some of the fascinating reminders of the past amid some stunning Snowy River scenery.

Beautifully put together presentation with appropriate music covering a special part of the high country. I had the privilege of traversing some of that area in 1964 from Upper Thowgla to Suggan Buggan on a 10 day bushwalk taking in Mts Gibbo, Pinnibar ,Cobberas, Buchan Rock and exploring Pendergast Caves at Limestone Creek. Great memories revived of a time long ago.😁

Thanks for your comment. That would have been one heck of a walk and a great experience in 1964. I see you have added Norma to your favourites list. She is a wonderful underrated musician with a beautiful voice. Thanks again for your feedback. It's very important for me to know what others think of the slideshows.

Thanks for your feedback. It's always a mystery to me as to what people think about the slideshows. I'm glad you find them 'simple' but informative because that is the intention. Much appreciated.

Live in about that area at delegate my family used to run cattle through Willis for generations we always go down there and follow the old bridle tracks where they use to push the herd threw thick bush it’s not very open anymore but there is a hidden track there

Thanks for your comment. Very interesting area from a history point of view. A lot of old-time stories, places and events would not have been documented and are now lost forever.

It seems that the current bridge at Pinch River was constructed c.1976 after a wooden bridge was washed away about 1974. [Thanks to comments by John Hasler and Henry Kuper].

Errata: Comment by Linda Barraclough: Gippsland History Facebook. "The customs post at Willis was only there about 18 months (I think). And then it moved to Black Mountain."
