Montenegro DID NOT disappoint!!

We decided we wanted to see as much of Montenegro's coastal region as possible, so what better way to see it than by taking a car from the bottom to the top! We had our trusty little Dacia & raced down to Bar where our journey began.
Bar is a coastal town in southern Montenegro that has a ton of history. Home to King Nikola's oceanfront home, this town was a highlight for the monarchy & it was easy to see why! We also decided to drive a little bit inland to see the oldest tree in Europe! It's recognized to be over 2240 years old!! They've turned it into a small exhibit & it was so cool to see this little piece nature that's made so famous here in Montenegro.
We then started heading north up the coast to Sveti Stefan. Sveti Stefan is known throughout the world as one of the premier vacation spots for the rich & famous. Brad Pitt, Elizabeth Taylor, & Marilyn Monroe are just a few of the A-list celebrities that have been seen in this gorgeous resort & who although it's been closed since the beginning of the pandemic, we're VERY confident that this lovely place will be back to its full glory soon!
After Sveti Stefan we drove up to Montenegro's most touristy beach town, Budva. Budva at first glance may seem like the typical tourist vacation spot, but dig a little deeper & you'll find some SPECTACULAR sights. The Old Town was an area that we absolutely fell in love with. The tiny cobblestoned corridors made us feel like we'd traveled back in time. Budva has so much to offer & we loved our three nights there.
Once we wrapped up Budva, it was on to the newest must-visit destination in Montenegro. We pulled into Tivat about an hour before sundown. This town has an old soul, while also having a MASSIVE super marina called Porto Montenegro. We spent some time walking through the new development & easily understood why Montenegro is rapidly growing on the international scene. It's really only a matter of time before this country becomes known around the world with the likes of Croatia & Italy.
