Welcome @Livingonatrip where we take you on an incredible journey from Mareeba to Karumba via the Burke Development Road. Get ready for an adventurous road trip as we explore the beautiful landscapes and encounter unforgettable experiences along the way.
Join us as we embark on an action-packed adventure, starting from Mareeba. Our first stop is a stunning free campsite located near the Mitchell River. Picture yourself unwinding amidst nature's serenity, as we share our experience of camping under a clear night sky filled with stars - an absolute must on every traveler's bucket list.
As we continue our journey, brace yourself for the thrilling sight of not one, not two, but 10+ road trains passing by. These monstrous trucks are a quintessential part of outback Australia, and you'll be amazed at their sheer size and power as they zoom past us on the Burke Development Road.
Our van was left covered in the characteristic red outback dust inside and out creating a distinctly rugged and adventurous aesthetic. Don't worry, we'll be sharing our tips on how to tackle this inevitable dust invasion and keep everything clean and tidy inside the van.
Venturing further, we explore the untamed landscapes and rugged terrains that make Australian outback unique. The Burke Development Road offers a visual treat, with breathtaking views of vast plains, dusty red trails, and occasional wild animals grazing in their natural habitat.
Finally, we reach our destination - Karumba.
In the Next Episode we will share our time at this laid-back coastal town , a renowned fishing destination, and we'll give you a firsthand glimpse into the vibrant fishing culture that surrounds this region.
So, buckle up and get ready for a road trip full of adventure, natural beauty, and unforgettable experiences. Hello from Huntsville Alabama, USA. I visited friends in Australia 5 years ago, in the Melbourne area. Didn't have the time to make it up to the Gulf country, so very happy to find your lovely travel channel. I'm enjoying the viral trip! Look forward to checking out more of them. Safe travels!

Thanks for the upload. Always wanted to do the savanna way but the the possibility of of an engine failure in such remote area looms large. For instance 1 Injector fails and it means " limp mode" ,MAP sensor ect. can fail. Never had those worries with my first 1986 Troopy. Engines where much simpler than. Keep an eye on the airbox seal as some people reported that dust getting in between the housing and the seal, ruining the turbo and the injectors

Very dangerous with those long trucks to be driving on the wrong side of the road.

I lived out Dunbar station as a Wild Game Harvester for 12 years. Do you realise not pulling over to on coming trucks has caused an immense about of Fatalities on that road ? Tourist's should wake up to themselves as the powder bulldust hangs about when there is no wind and more than likely another truck is not far behind or even another vehicle. Just simply pull over. Tourists on a trip should understand this. Because memories of accidents Bush life people have to attend being first to the scene remains with them forever. FOR GODS SAKE , ALWAYS HAVE YOUR UHF ON SCAN not just set on Channel 40 and give the rigs the whole road Please.

Oh wow that would have been great living out there, it’s such beautiful country. We always have our radio on scan and pull over for the trucks we are not in a hurry.
