RU-vid channel called ask Jeff Williams. He's a gold miner and geological expert. In the study of rocks and formations. Check him out he has a video out on the different Rock structures and the ones that contain gold and don't. He knows everything about rocks and rock formations and gold. He's visited several Minds as well from Arizona to Utah, and California to Colorado.

Nice video -What a shame someone burned down that building just off of 95 - someone also stole the huge motor that was part of the mill. The house that was built by G. Colton on West Hobson street was torn down too. He discovered the first vein of gold in 1897. Im glad I took several dozen trips to this area - photographing these now lost structures - I went everywhere exploring with my dog. I hope to one day publish a book with my Ghost Town structures - there is something about the aged patina of the wood and the corrugated rusted metal roofs of yesteryear!

Hello, the town is small but the mining is all over around the town. A lot on private property, still a lot to see and share. Thank you for watching and we will see you in the next one.

I worked and played there for many years. That old vehicle up there they use to use it in the old parade. Put a tarp over the back and you have an "old covered wagon" that was either pulled by burros or motored around. Way before my time. There's a really good book titled: "Searchlight Remembered", excellent reading. North of that mine you were hiking around at with the single drum hoist is the last mine i worked at there in 1996. It has a steel head frame and was called the "Ruth Elder". The young man that has it now consults with me cause i assayed the whole mine underground back then. He just recently hit a good pocket, cause i remembered. Anyway.........Thanks for the memories.

That is great stuff. Thank you for sharing about the old frame, We need to find the mine that is through the hills that you can walk in. I have heard it is north of town and almost goes through the mountain all the way. Thank you so much for watching, sharing and the great comment.

@@weekendescapades Sorry it took so long. I had company. Right across 95 from the mine with the steel headframe is the tunnel i think you're talking about. I've only been in there once and at one time thought about buying it. I don't think it ran through the mountain but it did go back in there quite a ways. Not much to look at tho as it goes into the barren quartz.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Will be driving thru in 2 weeks. First time was last year but only stopped to get gas, beef jerky/peanuts across the street on our way to Laughlin. Will stop this time and do a little exploring ourselves!

Yes you are correct... That was a cable spool in the gear hook to a motor a transmission that would run the cable up and down the shaft from the head frame

Very suprised no vandals being that close to a highway, even the car at 6:00 had it's headlights intact! I would've liked to have seen further into that first shack, don't be afraid! Give a warning shout first before entering. (I love exploring abandoned buildings but only if it's safe) Nice tour! 👍👍👍 Stayin tuned!

No vandals 👍🏻. The floor of the buildings had what looked Like rats nests and that is a no go for me. But what a great place to visit. Thank you so much for watching and we will see you in the next one.

That area you were looking at the old rooms looks like “Gonorrhea Gulch” it was a small east west running dirt road with Cribs that prostitutes operated in, this was back in the 20’s up to the early 50’s. I lived in searchlight in 1970-1971

First Sergeant Astor's Log Everything is upside down now, all of my superiors are gone and there's no one left but myself and a handful of soldiers. I've been following a strict patrol schedule since the incident, making sure to cover the roads leading into Camp Searchlight. I like to keep myself moving in order to catch any wayward travelers who may not know the dangers that now lurk within the town. I don't think I could forgive myself if someone got past me and went into that hell hole of a place. So far I've been able to maintain enough energy that I'm never away from any point on my patrol for long. I wonder how long before I can't keep going anymore?

First Sargent Astor is a hell of a soldier, it is not easy be on patrol for the California Republic Army in Camp Searchlight.

At 10:12, you didn’t get screamed at by the guy in his home down below to your left? I came through here in the last 6months and he claimed no trespassing but I’m unsure if it’s actually his land or not but we just said we wanted to see some of search light sorry for bothering and left, we started walking back down as he came riding up on his quad to get all upset on us. (Yes there were no trespassing signs but ik some folk just feel the freedom to put up those signs anywhere even if it’s not there land so we gave it a shot and walked up there anyways) All the other sights prior to 10:12 were those close to the last sighting you showcase? The one I’m referring to? Because when I went to searchlight time stamp 10:12 sighting was the only historical remnant I could come across or see when going through, I’m guessing the others were in a different part of town?

Most of what we were looking at is right on the Hwy in town. on the right as you are headed south. Most all other building are in the side streets by peoples houses. No one came out except a couple that asked if we have a youtube channel. they said they lived on the corner, Nice people. you never know when someone will pop up and get mad at you tho. Thank you for watching and we will see you in the next one.
