I lived in Norwalk for years and have never been inside of that mansion. That mansion was the house used in the old television soap opera "Dark Shadows".

Nice house, even if it looks like the Addams Family house from outside! The same type of scheduling conflicts happen to me and my wife when we plan stuff as well, it's not just you. It's like a laugh from the universe at our expense! LOL! Thanx for the tour! 😎👍

There’s a bowling alley in the basement. There’s also an alarm system where each window was wired up. That was 40 years ago. My dad did some restoration there. Neat place.

And the Gentleman hat bought the house from the Widow, spent years tracking down all the furniture that she sold off. Once he was ready to move in, he died of a mysterious illness. 😔That may be what gave the house its reputation.

The.mansion is really beautiful. I like buildings that look like castles. 90,000 is not bad for that much living space. I’m sure be more nowadays. It’s ashame the city uses some of it for storage . I like the dome plant room. I wonder if they host weddings and receptions there. Will look into visiting.

"... looks like it's from a movie, doesn't it?" That's because it is. Both "Stepford Wives", 1975 and 2004 had scenes filmed here. It stood in for the mysterious "Mens' Association". Watch out, Joy... or is it Julie? Your hubby speaks rapidly... 😜 PS -- when this lockdown ends in a decade or so, go to Lockwood at Christmas. It's very special. PPS -- it has a Titanic connection as well. Not the movie; a survivor of the sinking... Helen Churchill Candee. Fascinating. Her son or daughter was living there in 1912 and she went there to recover from injuries sustained when she jumped into a lifeboat. The same one that Margaret (Molly) Brown was in. She and Molly rowed together, despite the pain she must have been suffering (fractured leg bone). All the best to you both!

That’s cool about the unsinkable Helen Candee. I park my car there to walk NRV and just came upon the director of Mr Harriman’s Phone that was being filmed there. Coming out of the graveyard I seen him and said big fan, and just walked away. I googled him about a week before so I knew his face, but that mansion is one amazing work of art. I live close so I check it out at night a lot but I’ve never been inside. I think the young lady’s name is Julia as in Julia Dream

Wow nobody ever lived there. Wonder what is under the house to make it’s reputation unlivable
