I knew about this location for quite awhile as it looked very menacing building when it was active but I had inside information that this property was going to be derelict very soon and I wasn’t long as one of my family members used to work in this building and used to walk these long corridors day after day and then when she left the premises she told me that she had more in side information that the property is going to be disused and marked for demolition so I was just on the waiting game for a entrance into the building and I wasn’t wrong the building was absolutely massive was inside the building for nearly 2 1/2 hours could even been in there for even more length of time but it was just a mirror image of office corridors and office rooms
But from the roof you had an amazing view over the town that this sides in
History
Constructed during the early 1980s, this building was originally constructed for the Property Services Agency, later part of the site was used by the Department for Health and Social Security, then the Child Support Agency
Ashdown House, the six-storey office block accommodated the clerical staff of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) in recent years, is set to be demolished. A proposal for 148 new homes to be built in its place appears to have received a favourable response from the planning department of Hastings Borough Council in pre-application discussions. The development is also intended to offer a new ‘discount supermarket’ and a fresh community centre to replace the former Civil Service Sports Club alongside.

At the time, July 2019, Labour party councillors at Borough Council (HBC) raised vociferous complaints. People left because of personal reasons and also managers and deputy managers used to bully their staff as one of my family members was one of these in their situations that’s why one of my family members retired early as they used to bully them into leaving their job which wasn’t a good idea as they wanted new fresh blood to work and didn’t want the old generation to work there even though that they knew what was good to do for the job

Plans for a new Aldi store have been announced as part of a redevelopment creating up to 50 jobs.
Danescroft submitted plans for the development of Ashdown House at the end of 2020, which, it says, would see 152 new homes, a new community centre and the new food store accessed
Dominic Fryer, chief executive of Danescroft said “We’re delighted that we’re now able to confirm our plans for the Ashdown House redevelopment include a new Aldi store
“As the Department for Work and Pensions have now vacated the building, it’s important that we work with the council to find the best use for the site, which we believe our plans do.
“We have been working with the council for a number of months and believe that the addition of the new Aldi store will not only improve local shopping choice for residents in, but also help provide up to 50 jobs in the local area.
