Exploring the Pyrenees

An impromptu trip through the Pyrenees Range with a short stop at the summit of Mt Avoca. The Pyrenees range are in central western Victoria, near the town of Avoca, just a short distance North East of the Grampians.
From this short visit looks like lots of camping areas and tracks to explore in this great area that's very accessible.

Love that part of the world. I grew up around there, spent a lot of time hiking , camping and exploring the Pyrenees mainly around Mt Avoca and water falls area. Have very happy memories of BBQ’s and picnics with Mum & Dad at the waterfall. Thanks for sharing .

Yeah always fun heading somewhere for the first time and like you, while I love the high country, it's nice to see other parts of the country as well!.

Thx mate, you and me both!!! Wouldn't be a bad spot for an over-night stop and you could do a bit more exploring.

I've done a couple of trips out there, and there are a couple of interesting and challenging tracks. FYI there's some excellent camping at the Glen Patrick oval which is beautifully maintained by the local community. Honesty box donation that goes towards maintenance. Toilet facilities and a nice undercover meals area with fireplace. Good spot for vans and camping. Might want to set the DOT up there next time. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the tips mate, that'd be pretty close to access as well, good base! Will check it out next time! I'm sure I'll get over that way with the DOT sometime.

thx mate glad you enjoyed it. Try to get around as much as we can. The High Country is just closest to me so where I go most of the time :-) Wouldn't mind heading back this way and taking a bit more time.

Looks like some fun driving and always good to explore new places. It does look like it could make some nice secluded camps too and given the traffic I don't think you would get many idiots.

@@OffTheBeatenPathAus yeah sure looks like it. I'm wanting to go back to where I did Clean Up Australia Day this year. Go with 1 or 2 others and have a chilled weekend exploring the area.
