Join me on another Railroad adventure as we search for some of the remaining sections of the Laurel Line. This old trolley service played an important transportation roll in Northeast Pennsylvania. Although today, there are three miles of it still used by the Electric City Trolley Excursion, the rest is being reclaimed by nature. So come along with me on this exciting adventure. Enjoy

It's so sad to see old rails, trains and trolley. D.C. used to have trolley. They company bothering to take up the tracks. Very dangerous.

At its peak the trolley carried 4.2 million passengers a year from Scranton to Wilkesboro (?spelling) - some parts of the line were put back in service with electrical overhead wires and supposedly there is talk of bringing back more of the line - I hope that happens .

You stated that the first station was Rocky Glen. Actually there was the first was Virginia Station, once the "Over the Hill" & tunnel routes joined. Also most of the ROW base rock was quarried from the area just south of the I-81 double bridges that the tunnel route passes under.

I live about 4 blocks away from the railroad that has similar story. Use to connect a lot of little cities. Sure would be nice if it was operating again. a lot of people in this rural area don't have cars plus there would be savings on gas. Pretty much all that it''s used for now is taking visitors up and down maybe a four mile stretch.

Another great video. Definitely come back and go through toward Rocky Glen. It's a shame that the trolley lines and railroads went out. It's mind-blowing to think of the money and manpower that went into building these rail lines, now left to be reclaimed by nature. Keep throwing in the stories from your past too. It brings a personal touch.

Jp i have an adventure for you. No one has done a video of the old Gravity Railroad, ran from Honesdale to the breakers in Scranton, Dickson City. Behind the Holiday Inn in Dunmore there are tunnels at the top of the mountain. Trail runs from Dunmore to Marshwood road crossing. Great adventure, the coal was taken from the breakers to Ny City for heat and production. They pulled the coal cars up the mountain with Donkeys and later with motor cars, when empty the cars would free wheel down the mountain by themselves.

Cool video! We’ve been riding the atvs up that way for a couple years now, not very frequently though. As far as what’s along the tracks heading back towards Pittston, the old dynamite plant is back that way. Last time I was there, there was still a couple standing structures. That would make for a good video I’d think.

I see that you are interested in searching for old abandon areas. There is an old railroad bed that runs along Penns Creek in Union and center county. there are some old tunnels along with it runs from Cheery Run to past Poe Paddy and Poe Valey. Also in Union/Lycoming county is a village of Elvira outside Allenwood, PA. A good history of how the federal government bought all the land and placed an ordinance there. Thanks for another fine railroad video. I don't have that opportunity here in North Central Ohio as the few abandon rail lines have been obliterated . The Eire line from Marion Ohio West to Chicago is nothing but a ghost on Google Maps. Being this is flat lands their are no tunnels or high bridges. I have to travel with you as I cant myself. Thanks again.
