We're back down south! Epic weather, epic views - pretty hard to beat!
In this episode Daniel heads out to explore the canals and rivers around Twizel before the fam' heads up to Aoraki Mt Cook National Park to check out the Blue Lakes on foot before heading back down the lake to recreate a photo Daniel took years ago.

Hey mate. Great channel - just stumbled across it. I’m just looking at getting started and looking at vehicles etc. how do you get around the self contained requirements for freedom camping - do you have a toilet and sink on the truck?

Hey man - cheers! Nice - welcome to the world of overlanding and 4WDing! There's not really an easy way around it, especially with the new rules. None of our vehicles have ever been self contained - not worth the effort for the few times we'd actually need it. Most of the time we stay at DOC/council run campsites, heaps of them are awesome and some of the DOC ones are pretty remote - and most don't require self containment. If we're 'wild camping' (ie near nothing at all) we follow the guidelines that you would when tramping, making sure you'd never know we were there. And sometimes we end up at holiday park styled places etc when there's nothing else around. Hope that helps - it's a topic I've purposely avoided making a video on as it's hard to give a blanket answer. Cheers!

Really enjoyed your adventure bro I’m planning on heading down south this year for Xmas/new years and plan to do a lot of camping I watched your video through Nevis valley and would love to do that track and also this one you’ve done, what apps or maps can I use to find these tracks I’m not fully kitted with winch but it all looks doable for me and my lux

Cheers man! We publish everything we've done in our app - navigator.overland.nz/ - should provide you with some cool spots! Winch isn't super useful in Otago, not a lot around to winch off. Snorkel is all you really need in those areas! Have an epic trip!

Good to see you in my stomping ground! I see these views everyday and never gets old! Can vouch for the bumpiness of the High Country tracks, even with dropped tyre pressures, still a back breaker!
