Good tacos and ice cream have been in low supply where we have been. We’re enjoying sharing a variety of types of activities and what makes these places special and unique!
I loved it! Been there and done that but I never get tired of looking at those Mountain Views! Corkscrew was the first Jeep trail in Ouray that we did. Looking up at those switchbacks looked worse than actually driving it. We rent a Jeep Rubicon out of Salt Lake City so since it’s a rental, they tell us to have fun but not to do the “crazy Jeep trails “ which we wouldn’t do anyway; we keep to the easy and moderate ones and those will give you a scare at times. Looking forward to your next video!
Wow. Awesome. I love the adventures you guys take me on with you. I'm 65 and I can't get out alone so I really appreciate your videos. Loved the ghost town. Super cool 😎
Now you know why I said to rent a jeep not only in Ouray but also in Moab. You are seeing things that many people don't see because they are on the hardroads. (Buy a used jeep and tow it.) ;-) The ride may have been smoother if the tire pressure was lowered to about 20psi. I've found that, depending on the road, any speed over 15mph is too fast. Most of our off-roading is done at less than 10mph. Glad you had a very good time. Travel Safe.... see ya next time.
It was the best! And we're glad we saved our pennies to do it in CO (couldn't afford both), the scenery is our DREAM scenery and we loved every second!
Absolutely love your enthusiasm with driving the Jeep! I've owned Jeeps most of my adult life and I can tell you the excitement of owning a Jeep never goes away. Have been on those same Colorado trails numerous times. One of my favorite off-road areas in the country. Love your videos; keep up the great work.
I'm from NJ, relocated to Durango almost 15 years ago after visiting repeatedly! I drive, hike and ski these mountains and you're right, the scenery never gets old. Most of all I appreciate your enthusiasm and....awe (?!) of this area - I know exactly how you feel! Thanks for the great work.
Finding old newspapers is fascinating. When we bought our house, we found newspaper pages under some of the carpets. Articles that talked about the country of 'Rhodesia' and adverts for shares in an asbestos company 😲 I know you've been and gone from there now, but if you come across any more old newspapers on your travels, I'd love to know what was published in them! I was really surprised that you had to get the jeep washed after the rental, I would have thought they'd all get caked in mud and so the company would wash it at the end as part of the rental! Stunning scenery though and very cool getting to go to places you can't access without a 4 wheel drive. ❤️❤️
Washing the jeep accomplishes two things. 1) - most of the jeep places have a fleet of about 10-15 jeeps so it takes a lot of time to prep the jeep for the next rental as well as repair what ever got broken. 2) - It keeps the renter from just totally trashing the jeep and leaving it filthy, dirty, muddy, etc.
What an adventure! We, too, enjoy renting the Jeep Wrangler...good times. What a cool loop! Really really enjoyed this episode, and in true A/K fashion, we learned some, too!
That looked like such an awesome day! We didn’t even know exploring some of these areas in Colorado by Jeep or 4x4 was a thing until you guys did it. So cool!!
My daughter and I were there in July/August '21 and did Engineer and Imogene Pass. It really was an adventure we will never forget. We have a 2000 4Runner with 225K miles on it, but it performed like a champ. That part of America is so unique and stunningly beautiful.
The pure joy radiating from your faces when it seems you are pushing the limits of your comfort zone is just intoxicating. I had a bigger cheezy grin than the two of you. Having a Jeep is like peeing yourself, everyone else can see it but only you can feel the warmth it brings you....
So glad you splurged on the Jeep. We have always wondered if it would be worth the money to splurge on a jeep to explore some of the rough forest roads around the country. The answer is YES! You guys are always showing us new ways to travel and new adventures to explore.
Love seeing your adventures! Always cool to see the gems you find and explore in Colorado and Utah, since I travel through relatively often. Thanks for sharing!
I was in Ouray last week and did a guided Jeep tour to Corkscrew. Loved every minute of it. It was very bumpy and my fitbit said I did over 7000 steps over my 4 hour tour...thats how tossed around I was.
Thank you for bringing us to where we will probably never adventure too. First we truly appreciate your shot set ups and drone footage while being on a tight schedule! Bravo! It was an an amazing video! Serious the Jeep company should hire you for your footage! Great outstanding job guys! Thank you! ~Cara 😊
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, Ohhhh WOW!! That jeep ride through mountains and cliffs and bumpy roads...i was so thrilled to see that. The ghost towns were awesome. I have been to Ouray but haven't been on these jeep trails...im going back there...just WOW!! This was an AWESOME...no...INSANE!!! This was an absolutely INCREDIBLE video! I can't wait to see what's next. Great video👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!
Since you guys love ghost towns, next time you find yourselves in my home state of Montana, you have to go to my favorite place on earth, Bannack Ghost Town, outside of Dillon. You will love it! Sidebar: venture to the east side of the state and go to Makoshika State Park. It will give you that other-planet Mars type feel and you won’t believe you’re in MT.
Loving your Colorado videos, but this is the video I was most excited to see. It looks like y'all had a great time off-roading. I'll be there in August to finally let my Jeep breath the mountain air. The scenery looks so amazing, ESPECIALLY with the epic drone footage. Hopefully by next year I'll have a drone to play with. I just got my DJI Osmo Action camera in today so I can't wait to test it out on my Jeep. Kona @ 2:50: "Ummm, I don't know about this guys. I think we should probably turn back." Kona @ 3:07: "Oh Yeah, this is coooool!" Adam was smiling ear to ear the whole video.
I drove a jeep twice. Once on the Greek Island of Kos and also on the Island of Malta. I read the piece about you leaving your job to go full time traveling. You both deserve it. Your videos are better than any TV travel channel. Congratulations to you both. I wish you every success.😊👍🎈👏
Others might have asked, but how far (miles) did you travel that day in the Jeep? It looked like so much fun…except that cliff with mountain leaning out and the straight drop off!!! 😬
I enjoy your videos!! We too rented from Switzerland 3 years ago. Corkscrew was our first trail as well. Loved your captures and drone footage!! We have been back twice to the San Juans & just can't get enough!! We purchased a Jeep after that trip and recently upgraded to a Wrangler Sahara!! Stay the trail and enjoy!!
Wow! What fun! LOVE the Rocky Mts! They are so majestic and grand. The waterfall was beautiful and I'm glad you had fun 4wheeling it. I'm just a tad jealous, since we are in North Dakota right now. No mountains here! I have to say though, it's very green and pretty, even if it is pretty FLAT. : )
Another awesome video, guys! Don't know if you'll get over that way this trip but another cool ghost town place is South Park City at Fairplay. It's a living museum that you can walk through unguided. Pretty cool and easily accessible by your van.
Yasssss!!!! Sat down to watch this while eating supper and you did not disappoint! This was so much fun…I think I need to rent a jeep next time I’m in Colorado! The views were EPIC! Awesome vlog and put together so well! You guys rock!
So amazing. I have tp say when I think of you two in a vehicle outside of the van, it has to be a Jeep :) Fits you well. That face Adam made in the Jeep was priceless and loved seeing how much fun he had making it LOL. Colorado is just stunning. Gotta check out this Ghost Town Living channel. Sounds like it checks the boxes for me :) History, Outdoors and Adventure! Much love you two
A Jeep is high up on the list for a future vehicle someday (Adam really wants a 4Runner as well!). Tons of fun to be able to drive around places we normally couldn't!
Planning a trip to that area in September. Looks like a nice break from the National park crowds? Looking for some quiet trails and some serenity. Ideal area?
Oh WOW!! What a spectacular jeep ride and scenery!!❤️ I admit that road was making me a little nervous😳 but boy the views!! Thank y’all for bringing us along!!
How stunningly beautiful! Loved seeing Kona Bear! I’m sure not a surprise to you all…some of those roads looked a tad bit scary to me! Were they one way roads? Sure didn’t look like other vehicles could pass going the other direction! Great job guys❣️❣️❣️
I’m pretty sure people can go both ways, but thankfully we hardly saw anyone because we aren’t sure how we would’ve fit either! But the camera didn’t do the craziness of some of these roads justice haha
I loved this video - especially your terrific footage of the spectacular scenery. As far as your choice of Jeep trails, I'm curious if you considered trying the descent of the somewhat infamous and terrifying looking Black Bear Pass that drops down into Telluride.
Awesome video. We are doing a trip to CO from FL next year. Will be our first time there. We tow our Jeep behind the motorhome. So looking forward to these trails!!
Great video. Cindy and I rented a jeep when we were there and traveled some of the same jeep trails. We enjoyed reliving our trip through you guys even though we also have some RU-vid videos of our trip. Take care.
We are heading up there at the end of the summer . We enjoy all the jeep trails 😁 We enjoy the alpine roads . Animas Forks is a incredible place !! I love to see, you guys enjoy the beauty of this place too. You guys are the BEST !! I love that Kona wears a seat belt. It looks like Kona was relaxing at the end of her ride . What a great dog 🐕 😊
Ah! We are SO close to getting a 4WD vehicle to take off-road and explore some ghost towns around the state (a Jeep was a consideration but think we're going 4Runner). Seeing all this footage on the trails is kinda cool since you said you're beginners too. Guess there's no better way to learn than to just do it. Love ghost towns so Animas Forks looks like a must see. I never know how I feel about recreations vs arrested decay though. The new wood beams vs the flooring is kind of jarring. 🤔
@@brunnie Oh I definitely am not talking about falling down! We've visited plenty of ghost towns and don't want sites to fall into complete rubble, but the new, raw material I saw on some of these buildings stuck out a bit.
Wow epic views. But gosh the drop off on some parts of the road looked bit scary and also the one part that had a low rock overhang, phew!! Great jeep. Take care.
Man I love Jeeps...just so fun to drive. We rented one in Aruba years ago that was an open top one and you just can't beat that way to drive. So fun to be able to reach and see areas you couldn't otherwise. Those mountains look amazing.
It was the best! We wish we could've kept the top down the whole time, but trying to be better about not getting sunburns haha. It was so much fun to explore places we couldn't otherwise!
This was such an exciting video! We've never gone 4x4ing, either, but after seeing your guys do it we feel inspired to give it a try. Looks kinda scary but also exhillerating. And wow, those views were spectacular!
When you two make your way back thru Moab please reach out and I would love to take you on some 4x4 trails there. Ouray area is great for really scenic trails. Love it!
That’s such a beautiful area and worth it to have a jeep, like the white rim road. It can get a little scary on some of those roads, especially with a vehicle you’re not very familiar with and you still managed to get such great shots to share with us! I’m not sure if you already did it anyway, but dropping the psi in the tires can help a lot on some of the rocky parts.
We’re surprised the rental shop didn’t tell us to lower the psi. We knew about that from the van, but we just assumed it was fine as is. Still a blast!
The top of Yankee Boy Basin is unbelievable. Especially so when the wildflowers bloom July-August. Do not try even with high clearance AWD. Rent 4X4. If you like hot springs, Orvis Hot Springs down towards Ridgway is outstanding. I can say that with some authority as I was awarded the Hot Springs patch from the Sierra Club. Can't buy it, have to earn it. Thanks for the nice photography.
We'd love to do all of these routes again. We talk about it all the time how fun it was! We'll add Orvis Hot Springs to our list for next time! Thanks for watching!
I was once like you, but time caught up with me. I can still remember the stinging face from the cold and the numb fingers and toes while driving my '85 Blazer K-5 4wd truck down the washes and up the hills in California and Nevada in the fall. Thanks for sharing.
If you love spikey mountains, you need to visit the Alabama Hills and Eastern Sierra, driving from Lone Pine to Lake Tahoe on US 395. It won't disappoint.
Renting 4X4 is a great investment. The upgrades on a stock Jeep that Switzerland of America puts into its vehicles really make for a super capable off roader. Disclaimer: I have rented from Switzerland, but am not related to the owner.
We just found your channel and you guys have absolutely inspired us! We've decided we're taking our Jeep there next September for our anniversary! Love your videos!
When you're in the real rough spots lean forward so your back isn't against the back rest of the seat. Your body doesn't jerk with every tilt of the jeep that way. Your weight is on your bu** and your body can sway without jerking.
Kathryn drove! Kathryn drove! (Alas, not on camera, so it could have been Kona behind the wheel; what did she learn at that expensive school where you sent her?) Fresh P.I.M.P. Adam in his jeep. Kona at the beginning of the Jeep trip: "H-h-hey g-g-guys, I'm s-s-s-serious, real b-b-bumpy here, it's sh-sh-shaking the poo out, p-p-pull over." Out of curiosity, whatever do y'all do for "me" time, given that you two live elbows over cheekbones in that van? Or when you're remote working your jobs, is that all the "me" time you need, anyway, and time to get back to making Adventures?
Hahah it was Kona, not me! Kidding! 😜 And "me" time (or heck, any free time) is a rarity these days. We are either working our jobs, editing videos or working on our site, eating, or sleeping. But we have an exciting (for us) life change we will be sharing in the next couple days that will hopefully change that. As unbelievable as it sounds, we love hanging out together and I guess our quiet working time fulfills that for us haha.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Your body language reflects how well you get along. Looking forward to whatever you share about the life change (Kona's not pregnant, is she? You must have let her off the leash.) Love your videos, always look forward to 9 AM CST Mon and Thurs.
Beautiful video! Thank you for adding another ghost town! So I know I've mentioned I'm in the Detroit area and I work in automotive, which means I can't help but ask: are they starting to also rent Ford Broncos? (It might be a little early to ask since the Broncos are still coming out.) I have a 2021 Bronco Sport that I've been taking on my hiking trips, and I love all the Goes Over Any Terrain (G.O.A.T.) modes.
@@AdventuresofAplusK I've traveled that area backcountry and our oldest daughter went to college in Durango which next to Telluride is my favorite mountain town. I currently live in Colorado Springs. I love your enthusiasm! Can my dog ride on top of the van with me?
We have rented Jeeps in Ouray many times over the years. I love it ! We were there last September and an early snowstorm cancelled our Jeeping. We will be back.
@@AdventuresofAplusK I like them all but I'd probably pick Imogene Pass as my favorite. It takes you from Ouray to Telluride and is a more white knuckle experience. We did Black Bear in the early 1980's. Rentals are not allowed on it now. I wouldn't do it on a bet anymore. I get more cautious with age lol.
My family and I are heading to Colorado in about 2 weeks and I found your channel while looking for ideas to do while there. Great content! Did you do all trails in the same day? How long is it to do Animas Fork trail?
Ya we started as early as possible on the trails and did them all in one day. I'm not sure how long it was or how long it took us for the Animas Forks part. But if you call Switzerland of America (or check their website), or whoever you rent from, they'll help you plan out a route for how much time you have and what the conditions are on the trails. They are super helpful! Good luck and thanks for watching!
Awesome, thanks for the info. I am driving my 4Runner and trying to do all my research to plan accordingly and make the most of it. This info definitely helps. Keep up the great content!
Awesome adventure and incredible scenery! Excellent job and glad the drone was allowed because those were some epic shots. I have never driven any roads where true 4x4 is required. Definitely want to but this video reinforced that I definitely need to. It looked so fun. I have not so secretly been wanting to buy an older Jeep for adventures just like this. I can’t believe you didn’t break the rules and sneak onto Black Bear Pass. Kidding of course….that road looks beyond intense but so incredible at the same time. Have you seen that footage of a Jeep rolling off Black Bear Pass? Crazy and so scary. Fortunately and incredibly lucky that only injuries were sustained. I can see why rentals are restricted from it.
Some of our favorite drone shots ever! We had the best time doing this and highly recommend it. Getting an old Jeep would be so awesome, we vote that you do it! We had to try to not watch too many scary videos beforehand because it made us nervous haha
