The first eight years of mainstream televised music videos was an obvious explosion of visual creativity that changed media forever. Like most popular trends, however, they quickly became homogeneous, resulting in similar shots, themes, visual motifs, and post-production effects.
The rise and fall of MTV has been talked about countless times before on RU-vid, but I find it strange that no one had taken the time out to analyze the trends of the videos that the first eight years of MTV gave the world. Thank you for watching. Part 2 coming soon.
