Exploring the Worlds of the Everyday Witch Decks 

I really like the contrast between medieval and modern, because it gives the deck kind of a Harry Potter vibe. It feels like it's a witchy world inside our modern one.

To me the more modern and medieval go together - as they show that magic has no age. It is just as powerful now in everyday moden life as it was portrayed back then. It shows how magic can be incorporated into modern lifestyles :) just my take!

I’m also one of those who feels that the Everyday Witch has a totally different vibe from the Green Witch…to me they’re really not similar at all. The Green Witch actually feels like a different world to me whereas the Everyday Witch is so cutely witch-kitsch….even the medieval-ish cards still feel like modern people doing cosplay to me 😆

I really like the mix of modern and medieval themes, I think its done in a really cohesive way in this deck. When you think of a lot of fantasy movies/tv/books, and Harry Potter is the perfect example, you see a lot of modern things like trains and cars and modern fashion in the muggle world, but as soon as the character steps into the magical world, like going to Hogwarts or Diagon Alley, the character is suddenly in a very medieval world, in a castle, surrounded by people dressed in more historical witchy clothes. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is another example, when Sabrina is at her normal Greendale high school she lives her life in a very modern world, but at her home or at the witchcraft school we get more medieval old-world vibes.

It has been my first deck so it will always have a special place in my heart. I learnt tarot using this deck. I love it

When a deck has modern elements I actually like it when there are motorcycles in cards that reflect movement. I think it is perfect for The Chariot since motorcycles require a certain strength, control, and balance.

A different way of seeing this . For me I always saw it as a different world, like a parallele world where magick (Harry Potter style) exist ! So yes modern but a with a touch of the old good stuff . Green witch is more the world that I see my self living ! I love them both and are not use for the same purpose.🍁🧙🏽‍♀️🌛🌕🌜ps the chariot is Hagrid's motorcyle (well in my opinion!😜)

As others have commented, this is Harry Potter visits Discworld. This is a brilliant easy reading RWS beginner deck but I quickly tired of it and moved on. Don't get so hung up on trying to pigeonhole it and simply enjoy the playful vibe. It is very on point any time I revisit it. I'm reluctant to let it go.

I have this tarot. As an app and as cards. They are very communicative. I can find myself and my issues easily and simply reflected in these cards. I love your honesty and your openness to really feel and give full chance and you also introduced me with this Oracle deck. Excellent video , I enjoyed a lot.

I got the tarot deck recently, and the oracle is arriving today ❤️I really like the deck and the artwork - it has a fun, lively energy, and reminds me a little of Terry Pratchett's Discworld, which seems medieval on the surface but mixes in some modern touches for humorous/satirical effect. I think I'll be using it a lot for everyday readings!

I've owned the Tarot deck for a while and absolutely love it. I didn't even really notice the whole modern vs medieval thing until I watched this :-D I've just bought the Oracle deck and Feb is my month for using both decks for personal readings and social media. Your review really helped me see that I should welcome both the tarot and the oracle deck into my collection. I have been on the fence about the everyday witch tarot for ages, and never took the plunge. I realize now that I don't actually have any Witch-themed decks at all, and that is something I feel called to change. Thank you for the thoughtful breakdown, I enjoyed hearing your thoughts about each deck. You've also drawn my attention to the Green Witch tarot, and from what I see online, it is gorgeous, and really calling to me as well. I have a lots of decks and the Everyday Witch Tarot deck is sort of my go to deck for more personal reading. I do not use this deck for client reading. It speaks to me more on personal growth. And yes, they shuffle beautifully. Haven’t worked on the oracle, but have one on order. Thanks for sharing this video.

I’m a little late to the party-this was such a fun video! Loved seeing these decks through your first impressions. Both decks I bought early on in my collection (I guess since I’m still well within my first year with tarot & oracle, I’m still early on, but whatever). I bought the oracle first, since the tarot doesn’t have diversity, but caved a couple months later and got the tarot. I do like the oracle a lot, but love the tarot-I never minded the mixed timelines, it helps me feel like I’m bringing some fun and fantasy into modern life with me-my inner witch not taking modern life so seriously. The guidebook can be hit or miss for me, but the cards read fantastically. Just love this deck. It would be amazing if the artist and author could team up for another tarot, this time with more cultural, age, body diversity. Maybe someday. …And now you have me tempted by the Green Witch Tarot. Thank you for another fabulous walk through. :)

Was so excited to see this video posted! I’ve had EWT since shortly after it came out. It was the first deck I learned to read intuitively. It continues to blow me away years later as I continue to discover new visual symbolism to interpret - it is PACKED with detail. Like the little bird on top of one of the swords on the 8 of Swords. So many others - but the fun is finding them for yourself! Take a look through the pentacles and cups suits also - where else do you see those royal families? I really appreciate the detail and Elizabeth Alba’s art style. Though I did consider EWO because of the beautiful art, the card titles feel repetitive and general, so I did not wind up getting it. Hope you enjoy both decks - EWT is so much fun to discover over time!

I was laughing so much ! "This card just confounds me" regarding the Judgment card. I have felt the same way with the Everyday Witch Tarot. Watching the walk through of the oracle deck, I was immediately drawn to it to use for daily meditation. WOW, this never happened to me before. I think I'm going to have to get it. 🤑

I like the bold and colourful depiction of movement and action in this deck and the guidebook is just amazing! Overall this deck has for me a very modern vibe or at least a fantasy envisionment of "medieval". These depictions don't line up with my take on this time period, which is heavily influenced by time accurate art and texts from this time. Therefore the deck seems in my eyes coherently modern. Thank you so much for your consistently great content and a different point of view! 😊

I think the Judgement card depicts the Piper in the song "Stairway to Heaven" who is helping the Divine Feminine to bring humankind Home.

I see it as witches down through the ages then and now. I love the deck and I think it is a great everyday deck or a great Halloween type of deck. I love both the Tarot and the oracle. I also love the Green Witch tarot with its Celtic feel.

Yaaaas! One of my tried and true. The oracle unfortunately didn’t work for me. I’m looking forward to hearing how you get on with both. I got the Green Witch this year. While I enjoy it, I can’t seem to bond with it as strongly as I have with the EDW

I really like the Everyday Witch tarot. I also have the Oracle. It is really a fun deck.

I kept seeing this deck in videos and wasn't drawn to it and then something changed. Just got the mini deck and in the interview she indicated that she'll be that brutally honest bff so we'll see. Strong Tiffany Aching vibes for anyone reading those books.

I've had both of these decks for a while and really like them. I'm a bit confused as to why you were focusing so much on "modern vs medieval" when I don't think the deck ever claimed to be either. It just seemed like a sticking point that didn't make much sense, and I think it kind of brought the review down, it didn't feel like you were trying to be objective or give it a fair shake for what it is. My personal interpretation is that it's "Everyday Witch", and every Witch is different. Some practice older ways, some meld it with a more modern lifestyle. I don't think the deck lacks cohesion at all. Thanks for the video, it was fun to see a take on decks that are a little bit older!

I have both these, I love the tarot, it was one of my first working decks, the Oracle took me a while to gel with, I now use it as the oracle to for actionable steps. Because I have these, I have been like you but opposite way round, do I really need another witchy deck 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️🧙‍♀️

Lisa got me loving my Everyday Witch…she always talks about the Tower card! Deborah Blake is such a beautiful soul….I want her other Oracle decks like Cosmic Dancer…I think is the name….

The first everyday deck is the only deck I have I don’t know why I just love it.

I have had the Everyday Witch Tarot since it came out and have very little connection to it because they all look so modern. It is funny how you classified most of the deck as "medieval" when all I see as modern. I think what trumps me up is all of them have striped stockings and the witch hats, totally not old but more of a modern stereotype, and outside of the cups suit, all the dishware and houses are also very modern. I get a huge how muggles see wizards vibe from the deck. I totally agree that it is a cool weirdly mashed deck, the historian in me only sees modern though. I would be curious how you feel about the Llewellyn Wizards tarot that came out a couple years ago. A ton of your feels with this deck I also see in that one. Great review! Curious what other decks were sent to review.

Quite a while ago, I decided I liked the oracle but not the tarot on this one. Unlike the tarot, the oracle feels cohesively modern to me (it pairs well with Light Seers, which is very modern)...I know there are several people dressed more witchy/old fashioned in the oracle, but to me they still feel like modern people who just like dressing more hippie/eccentric or who are dressing that way for a retreat or special occasion. The bigger plus though is the greater race, body, and age diversity. (I also like that dogs are incorporated in the oracle.) ;)

I have both the Green Witch and the Everyday Witch Tarot and I think that they feel totally different. I also have the Everyday Witch Oracle and I really enjoy working with it but without the guidebook. Normally, when it comes to oracle decks, I enjoy having a look at the guidebook for extra insight into the card...but this one just doesn't do it for me. Luckily though the artwork gives me plenty to work with and I had many clear readings using this tarot-oracle combo. Hope it works for you too! :)

Maybe time is fluid in the everyday witchy world. I too thought the different styles might bother me, but they never actually have. I think in this whimsical world it just works.

I have this deck and keep putting off Green Witch, even though I really want it, because I have too many decks. What I love about this deck is the different styles of clothing and time periods. Nobody can put witchcraft in a box(one lable or style) and this deck celebrates this for me. One can take the differing time period feels as part of the reading; past energy vs present energy. Or to take a more traditional approach or a new modern way approach to a subject. I personally love the diversity in style. I just wish the tarot deck had body size and skin color diversity. I don't have the oracle deck yet. But i'm interested in getting it. I'm grateful for the diversity in it though. I'm a big paddler and wish they put a kayake on one of the more modern cards. But I realize that's a truly personal wish..lol I think if I saw a kayake in a deck I'd instantly purchase it...lol Great video♡ Thank you

Damn near every time I say a deck "isn't my cup of tea" I end up with that deck. It's like a death knell for my wallet. Oof. :/ It's so interesting--and thank you for doing a reading--because cards you might not really enjoy if looked at separately, look AMAZING in a reading.

the Ace of wands is the only ace that doesn’t look like the Page. The other aces have the person holding the element. That bothers me so much. The oracle deck is more diverse than the tarot. I wish the tarot matched that. I do prefer the more modern images. Modern fits the title.

I love the everyday witch one of my favs and took me awhile to realize that the Emperor is not the only one with a dog(the German Shepard blinded me) but the Empress and 10 of Pentacles and king of pentacles has dogs … sorry just FYI!!! Love the Green Witch Too!!! But totally different vibes!!!

Would you recommend the tarot as a first deck?

Is there anyone who is able to connect with cards more online and less in person? And are there ways of improving your relationship with the decks and cards in person?

Well....you know what I'm going to say. I'll be nice. But that 5 of Cups....WTH??? Sadly, this deck contains every tarot art/theme pet peeve I have. The whole "let's dress up like witches, ride our motorcycle to witch school, wear striped tights cause they're witchy (?) and practice yoga cause it's so spiritual" thing has really been WAY over done. The only consistent thing about this deck is the cat. I am curious what the marketing focus was for this deck. A younger reader? The "Harry Porter" fan? Striped tights lovers? If I wanted to add a "witchy" deck to my collection (which I don't) I would get the Green Witch.

I have very mixed feelings about this deck (talking tarot). The artstyle is totally what I like, the colors, I'm a total cat person and love the fimiliars and I like this kind of books of Llewellyn decks. BUT this mix of modern and medival and fairytale mood doesn't feel like it's a cohesiv deck to me. Is it meant to be modern people doing cosplay or LARP, but then we have dragons and acutal flying brooms, so what is the point? I don't get it and I don't feel it. There are several cards I just LOVE, but I don't like all of them together as a cohesiv deck. And there are some cards I don't like (the devil, judgement, the world and all the aces that look like pages). And I don't like the backings. Plus it's just white, kinda body-beautyful, cis-hetero... I do like the Green Witch (not the backs, though...) and never thought about this two decks as being similar. And then there's the oracle. And I like it! For me it doens't feel like a good companion oracle for the tarot, but since I don't have and don't want the tarot, that's fine. The oracle deck is a cohesiv deck since all cards are a mix of modern world and medival fantasy. AND there's diversity! It's on my wishlist.

One thing that I really wish Every day Witch Tarot would have is inclusion- white people on every single card. Again. Especially for the modern type of decks, this is totally unacceptable. Our clients are people from different cultures and the tarot creators really need to get better when it comes including different cultures/ethnicities in their decks.
