The Kasbah in the Medina. Fort Hammamet in Tunisia
In January 2024, Heather and I enjoyed a holiday in Tunisia. Hammamet is a popular tourist spot and a coastal town on the Cap Bon peninsular.
The fortress protecting the town was constructed first in the 9th century and then modified later in the 14th century. This type of fort, called a kasbah, protects the walled old town, called a medina. From the fort rampart you get a wonderful view of the sea, the bay, and the old quarter.
Heather said the toilets in the kasbah were very clean, spotless. There is a pleasant café up top on the ramparts.
