The positive side of the CoVid isolation is the incredible and beautiful deserted beaches and islands you get to see and photograph for us, and the wonderful people you have met. The time lapse of the night sky, absolutely gorgeous. A real treat for us city dwellers!
I often get the sense that Nikki gets a weekly shipment of clothes and poor Jason is left to make do with a couple pairs of shorts and half dozen shirts.
I hit backup 6 sec about a dozen times to see everything that was going on in the sky. I think I saw a few UFO's zooming across the sky and splitting into two.
Thank you so much for the joy you bring and for sharing the beauty of the magnificent places you visit. Please know it makes a difference in people’s lives. Fantastic.
I don’t normally comment on people’s appearance BUT 😬.....Nikki looks beautiful this episode. That outfit, especially the top with circle scarf is “chefs kiss”
I love watching your adventures every Sunday, but sometimes you guys scare the heck out of me, I worry about one of you getting hurt while your out there in the middle of nowhere with no support or rescue capability for hundreds of miles around.
"Star Filled Show" that was worth the effort, it sure sparks one's "Curiosity"! How could anyone ever think we (Earth dwellers) are alone in the Universe.
Considering the perfect balance of this place of our journey, I’ll say, how could anyone ever imagine anything outside our realm ‘3d’ of existence. Without doubt there is a 4th dimension world.
I don't know why but when your star filled show came up, it made me take a big sigh of relief like a weight had been lifted off my shoulder and I shed a tear. THANK YOU
Man, you guys really make me want to give it all up for a life of sun, fun and ocean ... but then there’s all the effort you’ve put into the refit and RU-vid production. Thank you for sharing your world with us.
Yeah yeah yeah... That's just what they need. More envious praise from us unwashed heathens who actually have to earn a living in this world. Keyword: tiresome
@@FumariVI LOL ... it’s not envy friend, it’s admiration and respect for their hard work and dedication. I sail, I fly, I travel 180-230 days a year (pre COVID) but I have no problem respecting what others do and letting them know.
@@FumariVI It's actually a LOT of work putting RU-vid videos together, especially of this quality. They're basically a TV crew. Camerman, audio, editing - all real jobs. :)
Upon further research, despite being uninhabited, Kenutu is a private island. Owned by the Afuha'amango family, it was given to them by the King of Tonga as a way of thanking the family for helping the King win many battles across the kingdom
Kim? Don’t you have a people to free? I say let your people go!! Just think of the hundreds of billions you could make by uniting the two Koreas again. The industry moving in, RoK people looking for roomier apartments, the book deals, the modernization for not only your people but you! You’re living in antiquated times while the rest of the world is traveling and enjoying life. Well, not so much in 2020, but we’ll get back there again very soon.
Whenever you mention Texas in your videos I remember the time you drove your RV to Alaska. At the Canadian border the border guard asked where you're from. You said Texas. He immediately asked if you had any guns. Thumbs up if you remember Jason's reply.
@@normamimosa5991 give their video a watch. They deserve it. It is titled 01 - Alaska Bound. I just rewatched it. The border guard literally asks a second time: " you're from Texas and dont have any firearms?" Lol . We don't like guns in Canada.
With all the great video that you guys do, we forget sometimes that Jason is a terrific photographer. Thanks for the many years of Sunday night documentaries.
When you guys eventually sail towards Australia I highly recommend you spend a few days R&R on Lord Howe Island - 'The Last Paradise'. I've been there several times and its achingly beautiful. It's been described as being like an English village set on a spectacular French Polynesian island. There are lots of fun things to do including arranging a guide to take you on the full day return walk to the top of Mt Gower. The walk itself is as exciting as the spectacular views from the top of Mt Gower. There are several excellent cafes and restaurants on the island and be sure to swim with fishes in the crystal clear shallows at Ned's Beach. Pure magic.
So 2 weeks ago many subs were concerned when you didn't post your usual Sunday vlog for your RU-vid family (>400k subs) but apparently you did post your intentions on instagram (
So subscribers are upset that their “genuine” concern wasn’t validated by a comment from them? I would have thought those that were genuinely concerned would be relieved that nothing was amiss and not judge them for missing one upload. I’m not sure folks realize this is their life, and livelihood. It’s a business and as such must be run like a business...marketing, self promotion, sponsorship etc. They are selling a glimpse into a fantasy (for most). Not to mention they are doing it from the middle of nowhere during a global pandemic..for free. It may be a good idea for those subs to reevaluate who they thought the Wynns were if they thought they were anything more than that. They may come to realize that their dissatisfaction was more about their need for validation than a flaw in Nikki and Jasons character.
@@larrimos for free you say, I watch the youtube ads when I could use an adblocker but no I choose to pay. As for your other claims - under your scenario a business looks after it customers, does it not? it doesn't just close without advising customers who thought it would be open then only tell people about it at another shop. I tend to agree with the OP and I was also a little surprised to find out.
@@goth3631 hmmmm, I kind of see your point. I thought of the following scenario. If a brick and mortar business was going to close for a day and they put a sign saying so on the drive through but not the main entrance, I suppose I would question their judgement. But I wouldn’t question their character, and I doubt it would cause me to stop using the business. Watching the ads is an investment of time and does provide any channel a bit of revenue. But that isn’t necessary to consume the product, it’s a choice some make in order to feel like they are giving back to the creators and I respect that. I just find it strange that the OP took them to task for using one platform over another. It seemed they were more upset about not being responded to on the “correct” platform (quoting subscriber numbers)than finding out if their “family” was okay.
Jason - "Rule of 500." 500 divided by your lens focal length in mm in seconds, in order to have no star trails. 500/16mm = 31.25 seconds max exposure for no star trails shooting with that Sony 16-35 at widest. This is very much a rule of thumb from the analog days, and pixel peeping will be your best bet. A star smeared over a few pixels on a 6000x4000 images will still look point-like on video. Happy Astro Shooting from Philadelphia!
Unknown undergrowth, sharp projectiles, cliffs and sandals - being adventurous doesn't come easy! What a wealth in one video: from the suspense of the reefs, the climbs, raucous bird calls and wild waves - to veggie pot pie and an amazing night sky. Every shot is pure delight. THANK YOU!
Hey there. I’ve been watching and following your journey for some time now. Jason and I played on the same baseball team in 7th grade and both trumpet players in jr high band (i was better 🤣). Watching your videos are both inspiring and making me wonder what I did with my life. Lol My wife and I have been talking a lot about getting an RV lately and start our exploration journey. Every time I watch one of your videos it pushes me closer and closer to that goal. Thanks for all your content!
As soon as I heard you guys say.... “this looks like a trail” as you explored the uninhabited island.... I clutched my invisible pearls 😩 It makes me nervous but I love how adventurous the both of you are.
Awesome job Jason. Loved the night shot. Nights like that are my favorite nights when backpacking. Nature all around and the awe of being a speck in the galaxy.
I have a genuine question for you guys so I really really hope you see this comment. If you knew you were going to be sailing around the world and ending up in countries where the native language is not English, why would you guys not learn even one new language? You’ve done years of traveling and still remain monolingual, what gives? Not trying to be mean btw, love your videos.
Jason is conversant in Spanish & Nikki knows enough to get by, so that's one. They both picked up a smattering of French during their year in FP, and no matter where they are they pick up the local greetings & learn how to say "thank you" & a few other common phrases. Besides, what one language do you want them to learn? Because nothing is spoken all over the world. Why so judgy? Curious Minion
@@gonewiththewynns judgey? I said I had a genuine question, if I was judging I would just go ahead with the notion that Nikki and Jason are too ignorant to bother to learn another language but I knew that wasn’t true, so I asked. And I didn’t say “I want them to learn one new language” I said “why would you guys not learn EVEN one new language” as in there are a plethora that could potentially be learned fluently just to have under your belt since there is so much traveling happening. When watching, they are the ones who often joke about how they are butchering certain languages like French which is exactly what made me curious why they would not want to become fluent in a second language, any language. Nikki said herself when she went to the hospital after an interaction with the taro plant, that the staff at the hospital was extremely friendly and accommodating and trying to speak English. Instances like that are what make me curious about the possibility of the Wynns becoming fluent in other languages because you never know what could happen and imagine if Nikki was much more severely injured. Regardless, I had a question and it’s been answered. I wish “Curious Minion” could have been nicer about it because I even said “I’m not trying to be rude” and yet I get called judgey. The Wynns lives are on the internet, judgment will happen. I didn’t want to believe that Nikki and Jason are as arrogant and sensitive as some people made them out to be but “Curious Minion” you’re definitely not making them look good.
Did you see those stars? I nearly cried. I live in the downtown business core and barely see any stars. Oh my gosh, I just want to know what it's like to see stars like that.
@KT I moved to a remote Scottish isle in 2019 where there is no air & light pollution and zero light on some nights. When I went out the very first time on a dark December night and there were no stars it felt like I had no sight!! (or what I imagine having no sight is like) pure blackness a very very strange and unusual experience!! On clear starry nights...to see night skies like that is absolutely mind blowing🤯🤩...it's also incomprehensible as to how all that exists up there and what is it all.... really like? It's really just way beyond describing....I think my brain just couldn't really comprehend properly what I was seeing. Too awesome for words...jaw droppingly incomprehensibly beyond beautiful !!🤩😍🤩
You should add the Night view time lapse image with Jason’s ghost face as abstract art to your store for purchase. I’ll buy it!! Haha 😂 Thanks for giving us something to look forward to on Sunday.
*Everybody gangsta till Jason has a coconut* With that coconut, he is the most powerful being on Earth. RIP Jason's shoe, it lived a good life. Gone but not forgotten. Man the water is so pristine. And the star filled show is so beautiful. Gordon Ramsay is a coward for not challenging Nikki, we all know Nikki would win
Gordon Ramsay: WHERE is the bottom of this pie? Where is it?! Are you STYOOPID? Go back and put a crust underneath! Neanderthal! Nikki: But it's a pot pie. Gordon: You better not have put pot in that pie. You did, didn't you? ...GET OUT!!
I was getting concerned that the trail you took was not a trail, but when you made it to the open ocean below the cliffs I was delighted. The view was stunning; just beautiful, as was the starry sky time lapse. Thank you!
'Knocked it Outta the Park!' Love the crouched stroll to unknown, and then Voila the Cliff! We all learn so much watching your adventures! The Aerial View of the Tidal Pool, the Island, and Curiosity was wonderful. Starry, Starry Night, magnificent, so Many Stars, Beautiful. Thank you for the Sunday Coconut Coffee Break! As always, be safe. What a Wonderful World we Live in!
Like others have said, maybe COVID has given us a reprieve from all the craziness. We may hav3 exchanged one type of crazy for another, but the change makes us vector. And why does Nikki so remind us of Audrey Hepburn as “Holly Golightly”?
All of the informational gobbledegook was very much worthwhile for the Skyshot. Thx for the effort and that island excursion was idyllic. The ‘great’ Wynns got er done. Much props!
I was about to send my cameraman resume, then I saw the time-lapse. Nice!! Night time-lapses are hard. If you screw up, it may be awhile until you can try again.
i feel like a bit of a clutz.... When you mentioned time lapse, I thought you meant 'laps'! I had visions of you swimming laps round the boat for 3 hrs! D'oh. Really love your videos. A dream of mine is to revisit that part of the world. Many thanks for sharing them with us.
When I lived in Nanaimo BC, I lived on an island in the harbour called Protection Island. There were lots of edible sea plants which were used as sushi decorations. I saw them for sale in the supermarkets for an outrageous price So much for something one could get for free, if you really knew what they looked like surrounded by the rest of nature. From Edmonton Alberta....Cheers
That 15-second time shot was worth they effort, Jason. SO many stars wheeling above us. How many of us (here in the UK especially) have never seen a dark-sky night like that? Precious moments.
I love this channel. I'm so glad I found it. Thank you for sharing your life with us landlocked-souls-who-desire-to-be-out-on-the-open-ocean. Well done with the night sky! That was so incredibly beautiful.
Nikki... thank you for your reply to my massage about Mark, that is brilliant news Mark is doing great. well done that Doctor for getting in touch with AstraZeneca for supplying his medication for free, and for you two for bring it to our attention. Looking forward to more of your videos. XX
Jason and Nikki your video was a reminder of my childhood, Kenutu is an island belongs to the " Afuha'amango Family " anyway just wanted to know if you guys did some diving and snorkeling while in Kenutu and would love to see it too...keep recording awesome videos love every minute of it Ofa lahi atu.
Eh, I only brush my teeth once a day. But it's a sonic toothbrush. But since I got invisaligns, I brush my teeth about 3 times a day now. Morning, after lunch, and after dinner.
Not gonna lie, I couldn’t be a videographer because if it were me on that island all alone I’d be running around naked in face paint. It would just happen. And that nighttime time lapse? My jaw hurts from it hitting my chest. Thanks for that. Amazing content, very jelly.
It's a good thing you are both athletic; a girly-girl would be too far from the nearest hospital for that hike. Awesome night footage; have never seen that idea before. The clouds make it very interesting - and 15-seconds is enough.
You were taking all of us to very special places that most of us will never be able to experience. Thank you for this. Woodward well with those shots and location.
OMG! I gasped when I saw the stars ⭐️ I have been watching other boat videos and been wanting to see the stars like this!! You talking about the camera was all foreign to me but, what you captured was outstanding and I thank you!❤️⭐️❤️
Clearly, the ocean was using the sea grapes to lure Nikky out to where the slightly larger wave would get their feet wet -- so she wouldn't have to feel so guilty about dropping Jason's shoe in the water!
