Part 1: Log Jam
We go into little brush creek cave just 30 minutes north of Vernal, Utah in the Uintah Mountains. Little Brush Creek is Utah's longest Cave system, and counting. It's believed to be part of a larger cave system that spans across the mountiain. The only map available was made in 2001 and there are multiple passageways that without a doubt continue further than the map. One of which we start to identify first hand in the second video.
To get into the cave you have to pass through a log jam, that before 20 years ago, didn't exist. Access through the portal and first part was basically a brief stroll.
Today many passages we are finding have begun to fill in choke points due the log jam changing flow patterns of the spring and summer run off. Creating shorter tunnels that we have to crawl through.
The first 2 parts are one trip made on January 10, 2022. Part one being the log jam and part 2 the rest of the time further in the cave. We end up getting lost and going down one way thinking we were somewhere else. We figured out our mistake and in turn learned the map and a whole section that hasn't been explored for some time. We are pretty sure we started to explore the boundaries of what is mapped. In part 2 you see that and I'll explain where we went and the mistake we made.
We plan to make atleast one more trip before the season changes and access is no longer possible. Our goal is pillar room. Almost a half way point when looking at the map.
