Hello couple, those older gentlemen who appear in the video are the authorities of the Water Court. It is a Justice institution in charge of settling conflicts arising from the use and exploitation of irrigation water among farmers in the Irrigation Communities. On September 30, 2009, it was designated Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This event has been celebrated at the Apostles' Door of the Valencia Cathedral every Thursday except holidays since 1239, although there are theories that say it dates back to the Muslim era in Valencia. Another observation, if you allow me, is that the giant sculptures you mention are the Falla and the smaller sculptures in the Falla are the NI-NOTS. The double LL in Spanish is pronounced like a Y therefore it would be FAYAS for you. A hug from Valencia Spain.

I see someone else has already mentioned El Tribunal de las Aguas. I read about it in a book I studied many years ago at school. It’s amazing that it still takes place. I remember seeing it when I visited Valencia back in the late 70s. Loved seeing your photos too.

Poppy was very good with the Muzzle. I’m not sure our two would cope so well. Hmm Very tempted to make you an offer for the Buddy rider but not sure if Tessie would be the same as Poppy. Hi Martin, when we were in El Saler last year we used bus or Uber when going into València with our dog. In Seville we only used Uber as buses wouldn’t allow dogs. Enjoy watching your travels and the how they helped us on our 1st European journey last year. Thank you both. Dean & Angela (& Jett)

Hi Both great to hear our videos were helpful. It isn't one size fits all in Spain is it , local autonomy rules , hence the different processes. The men traditionally dressed belong to the ‘water tribunal’ (tribunal de las aguas). They govern & pass verdict on disputes over use of water for irrigation. It was thought to have started in Roman times, although in the format seen today, started in around 950 AD. The tribunal sits every Thursday except holidays. Curiously it still operates as a tribunal today & still has a power to deliver verdicts… they also decide upon water use, quality and even trajectory as it weaves through fields… these are enacted as by-laws and verdicts have a legal standing..

Another great video. We have two dogs who we want to cycle with. We’re looking at getting a trailer that both can travel together - to be towed by me on an electric assist bike. Maybe an option for you? One question - Helen carried Poppy on the train. Is this a requirement or just your preference?

Great video, thanks. If you go there again, take a look at Devesa Gardens and Resort. It looks like it's a long way out, but it is a great area. Walk through the woods to the beach. There is a huge shallow lake behind the site, and on the other side of the lake, there are salt pans and rice being grown and a great village. Nice bike ride to it. However, just outside the gates of the site is a bus stop, and there is a bus every 20 mins into the centre of Valencia. Slightly odd site. Has a zoo, stables, etc. The site restaurant serves reasonable food. We have been there twice. Pitches reasonable size.

Hi thanks for watching , we have tried everything , trailers , rucks sacks, buddy riders she just won't tolerate being confined. She just wants to run at the moment , maybe she'll calm down with age we can hope. Poppy is a laugh a minute and love here dearly but we're the first to admit she's bonkers. We have lots of stories to tell about Poppy , including being expelled from doggie day car for persistent escaping from a 'secure' area. Helen carried her for easy on the train , it's not a requirement. Hope that helps.
