In the heart of Guangdong, we visited Xinjiang town, rich in Hakka culture and cuisine. After a long day on the road and coronavirus-related lodging issues, we sought comfort at the Sheraton. Despite the challenges, the Sheraton's hospitality, including free morning coffee, made our situation memorable.
Our gastronomic trip took us to a nearby Hakka restaurant, where sweet and sour pork with bacon were beautifully presented. The authentic flavors and kind hospitality reminded us of Hakka cuisine's beauty and depth.
Stone and marble production in Western Guangdong town revealed another side. Our jaws dropped as we drove past endless storefronts and warehouses filled with stone and marble in every color, texture, and form. This industry's size and variety showed the town's craftsmanship and specialization.
Daijinshan's steep and twisting roads to the mountain tested our driving skills. The mountaintop sunset and amazing vistas were worth the difficult climb. Despite the cold and alone, sleeping under the stars was peaceful and meditative, ending with a peaceful dawn.
This trip across Xinjiang and up Daijinshan revealed Guangdong's unique landscapes and culture. From the challenges of finding lodging to the thrill of discovering local cuisine and the breathtaking majesty of nature, the tour showed the region's tenacity, hospitality, and beauty. Join us as we discover China's hidden stories, flavors, and sights that distinguish its provinces.
