NEWARK, NJ - Three-alarm fire and explosion in an occupied multiple dwelling on the south end of Broad Street. structure fire Newark, fire broad street Newark, Newark fire news All County News NR-1990's
This is when the NFD was pound for pound one of the best fire departments in the entire country. Quotas didn’t weaken the command structure at that point. Be careful FDNY. 🇺🇸
I saw a yellow "motionless alarm," but I can't remember exactly what year they were issued. Thinking early 90's. That was Dep. CH. Richard Bitters there @1:54. Yellow tanks were the older ones, then we transitioned into the white SCBA's. I saw a white one there. I recognize a few guys there, but I was never good with names, only faces.
by the looks of the trucks and gear the firefighters are wearing it looks this was before meth came along, maybe 80's / early 90's. I'm a volunteer firefighter and if you look at the boots they are wearing we no longer use those type anymore and we now have full bunker gear. So this is an older fire. Could be a chemical fire, or a company that had tanks that held explosive gas (for welding as and example).
