I was there, but it was so crowded I only got in a few pavilions. The US pavilion was such an embarrassment, just a mess of stuff. Morocco had a gorgeous mosaic jewel box. Australia had a large amphitheater. You ascended a spiral ramp passing various exhibits then found yourself at the top of a theater in the round. Then an all encircling aerial film had you swooping across Australia. All in all I remember a lot of stunning architecture but underwhelming displays. The big treat was the daily parade, a marvelous surrealist experience. Still have my souvenir T shirt!

I went there for 4 days, 3 days on the third week, the queues were not bad, so I visited every single pavilion, I have the expo passport all stamped, the only 2 pavilions I din't visit was the Kongo (never opened) and the first pavilion on the entrance (left) that was an exposition, but they had a big fire and so it was closed. Went one day on the expo's very last Sunday, just to make sure I had all pavilions covered. On that day the fair had its busiest day, if I'm not wrong 800.000+ attended to the fair, never seen so much people together. There were many Information stands with touch screens, and I asked a technician what was the memory capacity of the server connected to this stands and he told me it had 1 Terabyte, that capacity was almost unimaginable back in the 90's.😄
I would have loved to have been there but I was a tiny child in the UK! Live in Sevilla now and feel so nostalgic for it and wish it had been better utilised afterwards. I walk by there all the time and its been mainly left to decay 😢
In 2005 a friend and I visited Spain and Sevilla included one of our stops... we stumbled on this place by accident and were fascinated at why such a magnificent infrastructure would be otherwise abandoned. That was before smart phones and easy internet access, so until now I haven't found much about it! Thanks
@@-richard-3039 when Expo'92 ended, there was planned to make a gigant themepark mixed with a tech park, it was called cartuja 93 (because is the cartuja island), the tower, monorail and the cablecar was operative after expo92, and they make some atracctions like a house of terror. At that time people could enter free, it was public streets but you needed to pay for the atractions. The countries buildings was ready to be sold to technology enterprises. But Expo92 leave a big crisis in whole Spain, specially in Sevilla, so Cartuja 93 project was cancelled like a year ago, and that zone begin is way to the death. but, in 1998, arround the lake, the european union help a themepark enterprise to build a new park there called "Isla Magica" (as reference to Cartuja's island), it still being operative. With the pass of the years, autonomous communities pabillions (that where arround the lake) have been demolished to expand the park, build a parking, atracctions, etc. And some of the other countries pabillions was transferred to their contruies, other where demolished, and other still there (lasi pabillion being demolished was ONU's in 2020), and a few other are abandonated and vandalized. Now the whole place (except the park) are abandoned, it only have some tech enterprises but for example, the rocket still there, and the river have no water... you should search in google "expo92 actualidad" or "expo92 antes y despues". And if you are wondering, the monorail and the cablecar was removed( cablecar stations still there) and the tower still but not operative since 2006. the monorails where took to a junkyard for a few years, one was restored for a mall in Zaragoza, but the rest have been being destroyed and selled as junk. The monorail stations are now buildings with restaurants and cofeeshops. If you go now to Sevilla and visit that place, you still can see expo'92 decorations, logos, etc.
@-richard-3039 many of the buildings remain and have been converted into business offices. But the rest is a wasteland except for the Isla Mágica theme park
¡Buena suerte!
I was there!! Was based in Gibraltar at the time so we made at least a couple of trips to the Expo. I particularly remember the British pavilion with the sailing boat and the the water running down the front of the building and the Sri Lankan pavilion which served the best tea I have ever tasted especially good on such a hot day. I also remember when we walked up to the US pavilion there were some (I assume Spanish) youngsters playing basketball on seeing us they lost a bit of their swagger when I believe they thought we were American!! It's a while back now so my memory of it all is a bit hazy but still have the official guide book as a permanent reminder!!
Thank you Richard for uploading this. I went there twice but all I have it is memories. Looking this film and comparing with 19th century's exposition, this one is quite underwhelming. A great corporations fest though.
@@-richard-3039 You are welcome. Reading again my comment, it seems I am undermining your film, it is not the case, I was referring to the venue in Seville. I was there on the opening day and was very impressed by the clock functioning with a wheel and buckets of water. When I came back with my girlfriend this attraction was no longer working. The French, British, German and USA pavilions were not that attractive. New Zealand and Venezuela both promoting their waterfall with film projections that really made you feel one was there.
