Thank you so very much for this tutorial. I have been trying to get these settings right for a while; all of my objects looked dull, washed out and not having height maps was a real bummer. Despite watching many other guides showing Substance>Unity, this was the only tutorial that gave clean results. Seeing my height maps and correct smoothness is extremely satisfying and inspires me to continue working with Substance; thanks again.

Thx. Helped me to improve my stuff. Unity is super incompetent with texturing and they all (Unity, Unreal, etc.) should just agree on one standard for default things and then add a few personal options if they need or want to. It would also make it easier to have the model imported straight from a blend file. Anyway, very helpful for my now custome 3 file export.

Thanks for this, coming from UE4 I was already wondering why areas are so glossy in the dark, there was no AO map by default in Substance, you have to redirect your Baked AO into Input AO to see anything useful. UE had this packed so we just combined Red with AO and forget. But here we have an extra slot for that and that with a slider, its actually a nice thing to have.

You did not show Unity import settings for each texture. I believe Normal should be set to normal texture mode and Metallic / smoothness should have sRGB switched off there etc.

So after searching around for the longest of time. I found out the issue and missing step here. You need to export the obj in Substance Painter as well to keep the mapping!

hey dude, I have realized that you have emissive map missing...it exported 5 out of 6...your metallic map is missing...I have done this and I had AO map is not exported...

I have a little problem exporting from Substance to Unity. I dunno if it's the export setting or the model itself but when I paint a model in substance, it looks great and the lines are straight... but when I export those textures to Unity... In some points those lines look wavy, like wiggling. What I'm doing wrong?... Thank you!

In unity, metallic texture include slider of smoothness, is it ok to replace Glossiness with AO to save one texture?(I am poor english,can you get it?:) )

I'm not sure I understand the question, but I don't think you can, I guess you could make your own shader and store: - Metallic (R) - Roughness (G) - Ambient Occlusion (B) - Height (A) In one image, but that's not the way it's implemented in the standard material

I did everything as you explained here but whenever I export it gives me 4 png files instead of 5 (the AO one is always missing) with this warning: "[MapExporter] The map 'House_roof_DefaultMaterial_AO' can't be generated for the texture set 'DefaultMaterial'." any idea how to resolve this? thank you

Thank you! Have a question. PNG format is unsupported RGB + custom alpha channe, ie Metallness (A) + Smothness (R). Do you use TGA ?

You can use TGA if PNG is not supported, it also has RGB + A channels.

@@SimonSanchezArt thank for fast reply! In PNG, Alpha channel is determinate by overall pixel Color. Seems need to use separate PNG images, or use the 'R+G+B' Painter feature and write data to single channel.
