Hi all! I know some people have said the template link is wrong or missing. It has always still worked on my end but I updated it just to make sure. You should see the sample logo files, a CS6 version of the template and an .ait version which should be the right one for the majority of you!
Not gonna lie, this has been probably the most friendly RU-vid tutorial I've ever seen. That bit of encouragement at the beginning was especially appreciated today. Haha. Great video and thanks for the help!
I've been a professional designer for nearly 20 years, but I'm also autistic. I'm constantly looking for the "right" way to do something because that's how my brain works. If it's not right, don't bother, right? But over time I've learned that what's "right" for someone else isn't right for me or even my clients. What you've done here is provide guidelines for designers to learn a great method that can easily be adapted for any situation. Following. You're a great tutorialist.
Hey Sonny! It doesn't matter if the file is RBG or CMYK as far as how the export process works. But it may be a good idea to do separate Ai files for the different color setups if needed. Most of my clients are purely digital so typically I just do RGB. Great question!
Thank you, finally some actual information on how to export correctly. Is 1500px the size you always use? I’m struggling to find out how to size my logos (especially for PNGs)
So glad I could help. For me, I go with somewhere around 1500. Mainly because PNGs should be limited use - things like social media or digital graphics - anything bigger, I would point people towards the PDF versions as those are technically vectors and can scale up however big needed!
This is exactly what I was looking for, I'm excited to watch this video. I also love the encouragement bit! FYI, your template is not linked in the video description.
Really helpful tutorial - thanks so much. My PDF's are very crisp and clean. However, the svg and png are squidgy. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this?
For your PDF export, why do pick Illustrator default instead of high-quality print? I've been told time and time again to always pick the latter to insure the highest quality.
Hello, can you please help? I make artboard like this to record. I Export by marking it the same way. But it's blurry every time. It's not as clear as when editing. Is there a certain standard logo size? So I couldn't figure out how it should be.
Adding this comment in an hope to get reply - I have created a logo, when I use it as png, when I am increasing the size the shapes remains good but the text get pixalated at the edges, can somebody help me with this. Does it happen with everyone of you? or I am doing something wrong, please help, I beg you please
why does the design I'm working on show that it's a single stroke and then when I expand it, it changes to an outline ? How do I change it back to a single stroke so that I can use it on ezcad3 ?
Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying to save high quality files for my client and have watched a lot of other videos. You made this so simple by providing files for me to use as well. Thank you so much saved me a headache!
Thanks for the tutorial. Only thing i don't understand for this is how to save out the files for print. Seems to me like you've taken that template in CMYK and saved them all out with the 'export for screens' option... like, does that not convert it to RGB? Then how do you bulk save the CMYK files and specify the sizes etc? Apologies if i've missed something.
Yes, great points. 2 things: 1. I've changed the template to RGB. That was my bad. It should've been to start. 2. This method isn't set up well for exporting for print. Most of my clients are mainly digital, so that's what we lean towards. I'll have to look into a pure CMYK option and make another video. It doesn't seem easy at first glance.
Hi Landon! *For PNGs:* - Anti-aliasing - Type Optimized for logos with small type or lots of type. Art Optimized if the type is big and highly legible. - Background - Transparent *For SVGs:* - Styling - Internal CSS - Font - Convert to Outlines - Images - Preserve (though ideally you wouldn't have images) - Object IDs: Layer Names (important if animating in CSS) - Check Minify and Responsive
What I always say to myself when my brain is comparing me to someone else is that, what my brain is doing its grapling onto a very little piece of the life of the other person and puts that little piece in contrast with all the roles of my life, so even if someone is going through a rough time in other aspects of their life my brain can't process that because it doesn't know, just wanted to share this thought, great video
So true! Comparison really sucks. Anytime we're measuring ourself up against others can only lead to us feeling down or getting arrogant - neither are good places to be!
First time mom of a now 1 year old. I finished my last semester of Graphic Design school in May of '22 and I had her in January. My husband travels for work and is gone 2-3 weeks at a time. I am just now feeling confident in myself to begin creating/doing what I love, while also being a mother. Your intro just confirmed for me everything I needed to hear. Thank you so much.
Hm. It most likely has to do with the size you exported it as. That PDF will be the primary one you'll use for printing or other high-quality needs. The PNGs are meant to be a bit smaller and work better for social media or other uses. You can adjust the size of the PNG though. Check around 0:12:15 in the video!
This might be a silly question but, what size should the logo be if you don't use the template? if it's going to be used on things like letter heads is there a standard size or should it not matter?
Hey Abigail! So what I generally do for things like a PNG is size them to 1600px wide. That usually gives enough flexibility for people to size it up or down for different things. For bigger applications like a billboard, I would have people use the PDF. But you could also tweak my technique in the export settings and create another file size thats much bigger and give that separately to a client as well. Does that answer your question?
Really helpful and clarifying tutorial - thanks so much! My PDF's are crisp and clean. However, the svg and png are squidgy. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this?
God bless you. You're amazing. Thank you for teaching this so clearly and providing a perfect template. And for leaving this up even after 3 years. Thank you!
Excellent Video, thanks for sharing, the information is presented very clearly. But It would be helpful if perhaps you left all you key codes in the notes... just a thought, Nice work!
Thank you for this video! I went to school for graphic design, but they never taught us this (and I swear I never missed a class). Now when I design logos I can professionally and quickly get them all the files!
Loved this video! Does the size of the export document matter? Mostly I use 1080px x 1080px for my logo exports. Is that allright or do you need specific sizes when it's for print?
Hey Gabe, thank you so much for this video! I'm a beginner and this has helped a lot. I don't see the link to your logo export template, so I was just wondering if that's still available somewhere? 🤞
Actually it was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks a lot! There's no link for the template in the description, but I just created my own based on yours one, thanks!
Thanks for this video - helped me so much ---The positive affirmation in the beginning of the video was much needed, I'm sure every designer feels like that at some point in their profession. Thanks for all the shortcuts - super helpful!
Check 0:12:25 where I explain export settings. For PNG, click in the first dropdown and click "Width" then set to the 1500px like I have or something larger.
Hi there! New video out today on creating patterns for clients :) Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Bt4oeqDnEg.html Enjoy!!
Good question and I'm not quite sure about the answer. For the PNGs, I'd assume 72dpi because thats the digital standard. I have a preset for my PDF export that should make it print quality or 300dpi.
