I watched a video earlier today where the converter claimed that your vehicle battery would only charge two leisure batteries to half level (surely it's the alternator that does the charging anyway). Also this would be dependant on the length of the journey I would assume. He also claimed that using a solar panel in the UK was a waste of time. Both of these claims i did find hard to believe, then a couple of hours later your video confirms my thoughts. Thank you
Unfortunately there are several myths that are wrong. Some of the big conversions can have more than 2 batteries, especially in the bigger vans. The Project Yonder van I mentioned has a 250A alternator to charge its batteries and big solar on the roof. Glad I helped 👍🏼
Love the divorce in a bag bit, we spent many years camping under canvas in ever larger tents, and it was almost part and parcel of a holiday, the arguments when putting up or down, often at the amusement of other campers. Yet it was always done with a good laugh involved, though I wasn't popular when I ripped a brand new tent when I got the canvas trapped in a pole and tried to lift it all up, and that was in the back garden after picking it up from the shop 🥺🙈 Still married after 30 years though 🤣🤣
Around 8~ weeks left for my camperconversion. Went for a 22 plate SWB Highline 150 DSG with a couple extras, then delivered it to conversion company. Really excited. Keep up the great videos! Maybe do one about levelling on a site ;)👍👍
Hi, the inverters for 240v section really taught me something. I thought as my phone, tablet and laptop have a 240v cable, that's what I had to use to recharge them. I have however never seen a 12v charging cable for them. Where can I get one from?
My 250w solar panel has been keeping my battery topped up over the last few weeks with the limited sunshine we have had I don’t use lots of power but fridge is on all the time charge my phone lights at night etc also have lwb the extra space is worth it but its not my daily drive.
How do you choose a converter ? I’ve been to 5 conversion companies all seemingly very good, with regard to the quality of work , all but one allowed me to walk thru there workshops seeing the different stages of conversion, “that one I’ve ruled out as they also gave me a quote for £113k “!!!!! If I can find the base vehicle , LWB for me, as I have a rather large dog, and that extra 40cm will help. I’ve seen things I like at one that others don’t do, but then others do things that the first company don’t . So how do you choose ?
That’s a very good question, to which I would probably answer differently everyday. 🤣 If money would allow, I would have a fully converted Crafter and a Transporter Kombi for daily use. If just one vehicle, it would be a T6.1 fully converted, by an NCC approved or similar. I say similar as there are some other good converters who do the job right
