I will not give out any information on this cemetery so please do not ask. UPDATE: I have contacted the Louisiana Cemetery Board and they are now taking care of the situation.
I can imagine years ago it was a lovely place to lay your loved ones. It’s so sad how it’s deteriorated. It does look some loved ones still visit, as there’s flowers and balloons on the graves. Thank you 😊
There are many people to help with this situation. Churches, high-school kids and scouts need volunteer hours for clean ups, fraternal groups, historical societies. Glad it was brought to someones attention.
I really appreciate the history you relate regarding the reason why the graves/tombs are above ground- really quite fascinating and practical considering as you stated the water table is only a matter of a few feet below the surface . So sorry you had to come across the human remains it must have been a real shock. Thanks for all your hard work to bring us these very interesting vids. Best wishes and positive vibes from Sydney Australia 💗🙏☮️🐨🇦🇺
Might not be anyone left to take care of that. All cemetery's eventually run out of money. Once they are out of graves to sell there is no other income. The money should be in an intrest bearing account, but some of the older ones were not run that well.
The people of Louisiana dont seem to give two shits about their dead. Floods or not do better at taking care of your dead! Even the foliage around is over grown and nothing mowed! It's insane at the amount of videos like this comes from Louisiana cemetaries. Smh....
After seeing this, I don't want to be buried, I'd prefer to be cremated and have my ashes planted into a tree or scattered in the water like I never existed.
Sad that this happens. Loved ones paid for perpetual care of grounds when they purchased the plots probably never imagined it would end up like this. Doesn't matter if it's a huge corporation or a family that owns it. All the dead deserve respect.
Call a local to the area Church, perhaps an AME or a Baptist? A Minister might have some leverage with the local government If a grave is open to the outside for any significant period of time I think animals usually disturb and eventually scatter or remove the remnants and that might have started here Obviously some of the graves are still being visited and decorated
Also the bones could be from different people, how the tombs work in Louisiana and how they was able to get so many people in one tomb was, they would put someone in there and wait 1 year and 1 day (during Louisiana summer and can get over 400 degrees in the tomb think of it like a slow cremation) they would open the tomb and take what is left of the casket out and push the bones/remains to a hole in the back of the tomb and they would fall to the bottom and be mixed with previous remains
Urban, could those metal pieces at 4:30 be extensions of the original tomb in the center? It looks like they were going to craft two more tombs, one on the right, one on the left. I guess plans changed at the last minute.
Are like this. A lot of cemeteries are owned by big corporations and they don't want to invest their money in upkeep and maintenance. The only perpetual care comes from family members who come to visit and get tired of their loved ones graves being neglected. Even though you pay for perpetual care you don't get it
Idk if you are from Louisiana or not but Dont hold your breath on Louisiana fixing the cemetery. There are 2 we’ll know cemeteries in Baton Rouge in wors3 shape and the state won’t do anything. One a mile and a half from my house, has coffins and remains missing from 2016 flood and 120 recovered that are still unidentified. Although they have put gps trackers on the vaults recently
Such a sad situation. If the tomb is old, it’s possible there’s no living relatives to attend & sort it out. I am so very surprised that burials - albeit above ground, was allowed with such a high water table & the obvious weather problems. In my simple mind, this is a good case for cremation rather than burial. As a retired funeral director in the U.K. 🇬🇧 I have never come across such problems as you have in the USA 🇺🇸. It’s so very sad. Thank you so much for the time & effort you take in presenting these videos even the upsetting scenes👍
My brother lives in this town. The last one you showed before informing the local authorizes, Estella Francois Navarre, the two slots on the left of the mausoleum have always been empty. So have most of the ones like this you’ve shown. The water table is so low here that all the older caskets are water logged even newer ones. The only ones that bust up and out in south Louisiana are the ones without concrete at all, flat concrete on them , or the vaults just a teensy but bigger than the casket. I would bet my life the skull yo7 jus5 found was from a grace that had previously vandalized and maybe repaired. Otherwise those simply fill with water, then when the water recedes it flows out.
Because of the water table in Louisiana there have been bodies surfacing, and just being exposed forever. It's kinda expected and not unusual to hear of. Louisiana is below sea level . You can dig no more that 1 foot and be in water.
The top one of the crypt the casket goes in then in a period of time the bones are removed and the bones are pushed in the back of the crypt or placed in the bottom crypt.
The metal you see sticking out from the side of a crypt is a 'lintel,' a support beam that spans an opening - a very common aspect of masonry construction. The side supporting it has fallen, leaving the metal hanging in air (on the other side of the crypt, you see the lintel supported at both ends, as it should be).
Why is this cemetery being so neglected The grounds are not being maintained at all Overgrown grass and weeds and I won't even Mention the visual upsetting surroundings Everyone can see this sadness all around for Themselves. heartbreaking for the families that Come to visit their lost love ones. 💔😢
That's just sad.... I called the mayor's office, the parish government office, the Coroner's office then I finally found out that Louisiana has a Louisiana cemetery board in which I had to file a written complaint and send them pictures. They emailed me back and told me they would take care of it. If you live close to there please keep me posted to see if anything gets done. If nothing is done about it I'll contact the press.
I. Walk through a cemetery all. Most every. Day. One. Day. I. Found. A. Rib bone. On. The grass it. Looking like a human bone. .I. Just left it. There....went. Back one. Day it. Was. Gone...
It's sad to see, how easily some cemeteries are abandoned and left to nature. I have been visiting cemeteries around Europe and some of them don't look nice either, which of course doesn't make this one any better.
i dont think they bury the dead there anymore maybe they cant take care of it due the ground it could be swampy he did most the caskets were moved due flooding maybe the owner died we may never know
What I’ve read is that it is simply a shallow grave. In New Orleans first cemetery, St Peter’s, the undertakers might put weights on the casket or body. They could also drill holes in the coffin and stand on it so the water would fill the coffin to hold it in place. Very crude but cheaper than a vault. There’s a paupers’ cemetery in New Orleans where almost all the bodies are buried like that. Not uncommon to see an occasional bone lying around.
Thankyou for your time today. And Thankyou for caring. With all my heart Sandra. Boston Massachusetts. 😊 3.1.23. P.s. God bless. 😊 O my god. God see all this is hard to believe that on one care. But you and God well see they we r.i.p. Thankyou so much for take the time to have a great heart ❤ 😊
That was smashed oddly. I think it’s ghoulish teenagers. My babies headstone has been vandalised so many times. Poor little boy had satanic symbols, human waste and paint over the headstones. I had to give up and he had a tree in my garden. The baby girl next to him had a beheaded teddy.
That's just terrible! I'm so sorry this happened to you and that the other's were disrespected too. It just breaks my heart that this kind of thing goes on.
Girl my ass is getting cremated and a damn tree planted on top of the ashes for the reasons you just stated. Also, punks who violate a cemetery are remembered by the spirits there and get their asses handed to them later on when they least expect it.
That should be taken care of.that was once a living bresthing beeing.its to bad.someone please do the correct thing and the decient thing and give that bones a new buryial.what it was one of your relatives ?
I can't believe the condition of this cemetery. This would never happen where I live. These people must have relatives. Does not one visit the cemetery and see what a disgraceful condition it is in?
why is it we just turn our backs and just forget about this cemetery its a shame no one will accept responsibilty and deal with these problems storm damage is unexpected i understand so this is where the comunity must make a stand and help out
@@KarolinaBernolak Yes, probably. There are other cemeteries and mausoleums around the country in the same state of affairs. The above ground tombs in this cemetery are cheaply constructed of cinder block skimmed over with cement.
