Any piece of legislation or other document that pushes for any kind of preferential treatment to be granted to anyone based on their race, heritage, religion or gender will always be a no from me. Scott Morrison used to get SO MUCH criticism from the mainstream media… but this guy.. they go so easy on him. For the most part they DO NOT ask him the hard questions, where as with Scott Morrison they would criticise him about EVERYTHING. Every state in Australia was created one at a time, as a colony, starting with NSW. Federation occurred with the implementation of the Commonwealth Constitution of Australia in 1901. That document brought all the states together under a federation, in other words. It did not abolish the states. It was an agreement on the distribution of power between the Federal government and the state governments (which also individually each have their own constitutions). It preserves state power as much as possible. State borders are real.

The EFFECTS of what was still being done, into the 1980's are hardly "past generations". I'd suggest to stop taking the need for Indigenous Australians to speak for themselves, as a personal insult to anyone. Please try studying some history or reading about some of the current problems, AS WELL as trying to at least acknowledge some of the depth of spiritual connection to these lands, that Indigenous Australians did have, and still do have.

I worked and lived in the NT for years. All the Indigenous affairs and associated department public servants were ALL on 6 figure salaries. ALL managers and above, salaries were in the high $200,000’s and higher. Not too mention the free housing, free business and personal use 4x4 Toyota vehicles, remote area tax breaks, and more. The perks were generous, normalised and expected. And the outcomes on the ground for remote communities? ZERO!!!!! Education, health, CDP Employment Programs would be started, then suspiciously, funding would be withdrawn. Then new programs initiated, then wound up 6 months later. All I witnessed was a revolving door of bureaucratic mismanagement that caused false hopes, disillusionment and misery in the communities. Yet the bumbling, bungling public servants ALL got their exorbitant salaries, perks and pensions, whilst the Indigenous people got SWEET FA....... and circa 2023, from NT contacts that still remain in touch, the circus of Government smoke n mirrors still bumbles along as it has always done, and Indigenous people still get played in the illusion of making things better for their REAL LIFE third world conditions. The VOICE????
