Considering these units were meant to be untouched its clearly fraud, and probs a violation of auction regs if any were auctions (only skimmed the vid)

I don’t think the owners knew, she was staging the units and pocketing the money. They rented the unit and staged it. The auction just states where the facility is, it doesn’t say who the owner of the unit is. No facility has live and online auctions. I have seen many private owner units for sale on storage treasures, the only difference is the girl who collects the money works for the facility and allowed storage treasures to assume these were foreclosed units. She and her partner (if she had one) staged the unit and then pocketed the money.

I thought the same thing as soon as she made that leap like "She's willing to even go into her own pocket book to make it all go away? That would never occur to an innocent person especially in light of finding out the scummy things the person they're working for would do." That's the kind of thing a guilty person trying to hide something would be more likely to say.

It's an effective interrogation technique for a reason. First you introduce them to bad cop. Then once you get them good and scared you introduce good cop, and psychologically the theory is you'll be more flexible in talking to the nice guy if you think you have a better chance of a good outcome with him vs the other one.
