The fact that her own dad raped and allowed others to rape her only to proceed and act like she was damaged because she was “no longer a virgin” enrages me, this entire story enrages me for her. This is terribly sad💔

@maddiemcnugget1076
@maddiemcnugget1076 Год назад
No but here’s the thing… culture is wonderful and terrifying. It’s exciting and scary. It can be loving and abusive. It’s beautiful and it’s ugly. Cultures are just to be followed. A lot of people have gripes with culture. Even more accepted cultures, there are issues. We celebrate and we are ashamed of our culture. It’s similar to saying “he’s not human, he’s a monster.” Like… no this is an action capable by a human, done with a human mind. It’s just a phrase but I know some people will believe that it’s a way to distance humanity from the bad things we do. Culture is the same way because it’s made by humans. I’d also like to add that by you saying “it’s not tradition” is also a denial of the past. People had blood sacrifices, honor killings, raped innocent children (pedagogy is terrifying). No we have to accept these things that are STILL HAPPENING and will continue to happen if we don’t acknowledge it and fight it properly.

@@londonslifecoach I wonder what your perspective is on why some of your mother’s family oppose what was done to you. Are they the younger generation raised in the West? How do you reconcile the fact some Indian/Pakistani families do not abuse females? Is it that abusive people will more easily find likeminded people to become their friends in India? Is it because those who don’t abuse are not standing up to those who do? If your mother came from a family that would have supported her against your father, why didn’t she leave? Do you think she had self esteem issues that made her enjoy seeing you be put down? Did she see you being abused as a way to re-direct your father from abusing her? Was she so broken down by your father that she didn’t have the capacity to stand up to him? Did she abuse you on her own (other than neglect you)? My understanding is that most female abuse in India happens with the uneducated. But your family sounds like it was educated and well to do enough to get to the UK and function. How did your father treat English women?

Hi Nina....I just discovered your story a few days ago. I wish I had a pen and paper, and just jot down the key points when you spoke and said things, I was like MY GOD! She sounds just like me. I'm from a Punjabi Sikh family, originally from Vancouver Canada, but now married to a great person and in the United States for 23 years. I may not have experienced things to the horrific magnitude you did, but I can definitely identify with many things you are speaking about, where parents in our culture only care about themselves and living their lives according to other's expectations, and then they become possessed with making sure you don't do anything as a girl to make them look bad. My parents were very emotionally, mentally and verbally abusive, but I was naturally very stubborn and when I look back in retrospect I realize just how tough I really was. I felt very lonely as a child, I had two bullies at home, bullies at school, because I was always the one who felt comfortable in my own skin, didn't go along and do all the crazy things just to be accepted and feel like a I'm part of the group. Life has been a journey of growing, learning and maturing as a person, and I've found myself going to a higher and higher plane spiritually with lots of faith in Guru Nanak's teachings, but to me I'm not fanatical or concerned with any religion so much, but just using the religious teachings in this case of Sikhism, and my husband is HIndu, and what I've found is religion is ok as long as you just use it as a general guide, and reassurance that you're on the right path. I've been to places and seen worlds, planets, and experienced things in my waking life, where I know God or WaheGuru or which ever name you want to use to refer to the Creator of the Universe, and that this physical body we have here, is just temporary, but we are truly never dead or die, we just move on from this world to go somewhere else, and the mission or journey here is to to do go onto others, all this show of acquiring money, material wealth, falsie honor false prestige, these have no meaning, because none of it is going to go with it. I see God in everything, in nature, the animals, and I feel more connected and getting closer to the Oneness. I'm sorry for the long post, but you speak just like me. I've been encouraged by my husband and father-in-law to tell me story, and I would love to share my story. When I rose up against the atrocities, I had decided to be a fighter, and started questioning everything, I was not going to allow to let anyone decide who I was, I knew I was beautiful, strong, worthy, but I realized it at a much earlier age I think that you did, I'm six years younger than you, and I felt like I was acting on behalf of millions of girls, and I was going to do my duty and responsibility to be part of the solution and not be part of the problem. I also have a daughter and I'm proud to say I broke the cycles. It doesn't matter what race, religion or nationality you are, at the end, once you leave this planet, you won't take any of those labels with you, except your karma, you wont' even remain male or female, so I've reached that kind of stage and just using Guru Nanak as a guide, but God is inside of us, all we have to do is listen to our heart and that is God speaking to you, He is always there guiding us, we are part of the energy that is what we call the Universe. Unfortunately people like your family have gotten lost in the darkness, and have been had be the devil.

The story is truly horrific, in fact in the UK it happens in front of our faces, in London British people have been taught to not get involved, because if you do it is the tags of being a racist pops up, and then the Police get involved but for the wrong reasons. It also happened in the town I live now, a girl whose father owned an Indian Takeaway and she went to school with my own daughter, she got to 13 years of age and was getting cheeky and westernised and she was shipped out back to India, and an arranged marriage was involved, she did not want to go, lots of tears, but was forced back, never to be seen in the UK again. There has to be a UK assessment done at schools, and independently, no parent involved.

The culture explanation for the way she was treated by her own parents is just a bullshit excuse used by vindictive P'sOS who want to abuse innocent girls and women. Being from Leicester myself, I have known many Sikhs in my 43 years and I would be horrified to think that any of those lovely friends had gone through even a fraction of what this poor woman has endured at the hands of those whose duty it was to protect her. The thing that really got to me when I first heard her story was the actions of her mother. How could a mother stand by and allow even a shred of that to be inflicted upon her own child? They are sadistic , sociopathic nutcases, nothing more, nothing less.

This was hard to listen to...not just bc Nina's story is horrendous bc it absolutely was but also bc this guy wouldn't let her actually tell her story. He kept rambling and interrupting and at times I felt like he really wasn't paying attention to what she was saying, especially in the beginning. Let her talk... this is why I clicked on the video. I watched her story on another channel previous to this one. It was 30 mins long and I learned sooo much more about what she went through. So when I see this video is 2 hours long, I thought there was so much more I didnt know. Nope, I actually heard her speak less than in the previous vid. Please let your guests speak without going on and on about your own personal tangents. The show is about your guest, make them feel important and heard. You basically took over and it felt like I was watching your therapy session.

Thank you Nina for telling your story and Thank you James for hearing Nina. I too am 53 years of age and like you Nina I suffered extraordinary unspeakable levels of trauma both in childhood and early adulthood. Amazingly I also do not look my age and astonishingly like you I have rare copious amounts of empathy compassion and a pure heart - a varacious reader tooas a child just like you. The similarities and paralells speakto me and I completely hear you. I wonder what it is about multiple traumas that makes one totally go the other way? Unable to hurt another human being and instead having a heart so big and full of Love for other people. It baffles me it really does. I hope I can reach you and meet you one day because when same people find each other as kindred spirits we can make a whole heap of difference in this world. Blessings.X

This is sad - I am from the same culture ie Sikh - same age and same name funnily enough - only brought up with love - yes stricter upbringing than my brothers but to say girls are seeing as nothing is unfair - her Dad is clearly a Paedo and satanic to have treated his daughter like this. We are generally put on a pedestal by our Fathers and brothers. She certainly got the short straw being born in that wretched family. Her family sound incredibly backward. Sikh culture promotes education for the girls hence why everyone is a pharamict, Lawyer or Doctor - I broke the ranks and became an artist which was again applauded and encouraged - her story is horric no denying that - but to speak so broadly that we are all like that is very unfair. I wish her much love and only the best - bless her heart.
