Danaher's system neglected 50/50 leg locks until their recent success in the latest ADCC. The 50/50 leg lock game was most recently improved by the Aussie's from Absolute MMA, namely Craig Jones and his coach Lachlan Giles. The position has a lineage which dates back to the early 2000s, where Dean Lister would employ quick inside heel hooks to unsuspecting opponents. Ryan Hall had a similar attachment to the position and delivered an iconic instructional to it in the mid 2000s. The Miyao brothers developed strong sweeping opportunities from 50/50 throughout their use of it during their competitive run in the mid 2010s. While having some avenues to and from either position, 50/50 and the conventional Danaher leg lock system (the latter, of which, is more formally known as the "Ashi Garami" system) are uniquely their own in terms of strategy and approach. Danaher isn't to thank for the leg lock attacks from 50/50.
