Now that I think about it, just by going off about Ryans costume and saying it shouldnt just be mini Homelander she had to have known that would effect his ego. And that led to him ruining Ryans first taste of the superhero life and causing a rift to start between them. And she has to know that that'll trigger Homelanders need for acceptance and control and causing a bigger rift. All the while pushing more and more chaos in the name of 'taking over', but really shes just pushing his need for control while making it harder and harder to do. If hes pushed far enough and everyone sees him for what he is, they'll turn on supes and Vought for making them.

I thought that was the point. I honestly thought we were supposed to think it was exactly that. Are there people who think the mom isn't a hallucination?

@@pigskinpoetry well in this most recent episode, she finally interacted with someone else (Hugh Sr.) so it seemingly shoots this theory down. Shame, because it’s garrrrrrbage otherwise.

I suppose they could still reveal that *all* of this with his dad and mom has been a hallucination the whole time, and his dad really did die with only Hughie there for him at the end. And Hughie just couldn’t handle it, so he sunk into the hallucination. But that seems like a long shot at this point.
