If they are going to charge the customer for Nitto tires, then the dealership either needs to provide the customer with the original new tires that came with the truck or deduct the price of the original tires. The way the dealer has it, you are being double charged for tires.

This is not just Toyota... RAM, GM, Jeep, prices are high everywhere. I bought a Toyota two years ago, none of the junk add-ons. But then again I went for a '23 4Runner and not the new gen vehicles that were priced like a house.

Well, my first reaction is "don't we have a competitive capitalistic society?" I can put whatever price I want on anything I'm selling. The question is: Will the buyer be willing to pay for it? If the answer is "Yes" then the price is right. If the answer is "No" then the price is too high. These dealerships and car manufacturers are banking on the buyer being willing to pay. I guess we'll see if they're right in that assumption.

any "mandatory" add ons that a dealer adds (and/or distributor in this case) beyond the MSRP automatically makes we want to go elsewhere, be it 'paint protection' or simple additional markup. It just screams greed. And theyre charging you twice for the tires on the tundra, once on the Monrony add ons, once on the windshield add on.... 3 if you count the originals

Speaking of exposing Toyota, lot these car channel guys crowing about Honda recall damaging but what about Toyota’s recent failures? 2024 Tacoma shock tower failures, automatics getting stuck in 6th gear, & the Corolla that burned up on the highway after he went over 80 & Toyota refused to cover under warranty, Tundra engines grenading. No thanks. They should have plenty of experience making trucks since they made them for the Japanese Army before WWII when they invaded China.

Black Out package is a rip off in and of itself. The manufacturer uses molded black plastic with no colored paint or plastisized chrome. Puts it on the vehicle. Then charges the customer's more calling it a blackout kit. People that buy this are the stupid ones.

I just picked up my 2014 Avalon for oil change at my local stealership and walked around to see what they had on the lot... 2025 Camrys all over and asking for a market adjustment value of $5K+ over msrp.. they have 2 GR Corollas (the entry level ones) with a $10K markup... they have probably 50 Tacomas and 50 Tundras with NO discounts or incentives knowing well both models have problems, the cheapest Tacoma I could find was an SR5 2WD at $48K... they had 2 Land Cruisers First Edition at $90K each... this is in South Florida, and Autonation stealership, it's incredible that people pay for this crap

The onnly solution is , go to the dealer and pre order a base model, without all these scam you add ons, buyer beware

The, "protection package," most likely consists of a coat of wax and some scotch guard for the interior, something you can do yourself for around $30.

It's easy to buy a vehicle in another state. I would first try to negotiate it off. You won't be successful but if enough people do that, the message will eventually be sent. I did manage to buy two Toyotas in the southeastern zone (a 2023 and a 2024 Rav4) that didn't have ANY distributor add ons but I asked for them that way and had to wait a few weeks. I got top dollar for my trades and a discount too. SHOP AROUND, DON'T LET THE DEALERS BULLY YOU! By the way, the distributor add ons do seem to be legitimate factory options but you are forced to take them which is wrong. The worst one is that $700 oil change package that you get anyway for free!

You talked about the distribution add ons/accessories that apply for only certain states, well I checked other dealerships in other states, Kansas, Michigan, etc. and those accessories were also shown added to the window stickers. So it appears that these distributor add ons applies no matter where you go to buy.

People need to send complaints directly to Toyota. The squeaky wheel is the one that gets greased. If enough people complain while car sales are slow, Toyota might refuse to sell to middlemen?

How is that mark-up thing even legal? Here in Europe you can build - up your car at the delearship so you add whatever you want, not what the dealer wants. Of course the downside is that you will have to wait several months to pick up the car because it has to be fabricated at the factory, but nevertheless, I rather that than overpay for add-ons that I have not asked for.

This is SICKENING.

Stealerships are the worst. Tesla has a way better sales model, you buy direct from them, made to order. America has been doing it wrong since day 1 pretty much.

I'm not that perturbed by this... I'm a capitalist type, and this is the hosey side of capitalism... I readily see that they're betting enough people still want a new Toyota bad enough to bend over and take it or at least turn a blind eye to the um "value added" and "preferred" options that the salesman with do their best to tell you are not really optional. I would go in, tell them that I will special order the specific model I want with the options I want in the color I want, and without their added bullshit (unless it's a particular item I am willing to pay for), and they can take it or leave it. If they don't capitulate, walk. I live in the Tucson area, and I've noticed that dealers down here have a boner for those annoying CHMSL flasher/modulators; they immediately chop into the wiring on all of their new cars and install these actually-not-legal components and sell it as a life saving piece of technology (they bought it for $9 and sell it to you for $349).

Don’t you sell cars? The added options on the window sticker are packages that can be seen directly on Toyotas website. They are options added to enhance the car, now granted some you may not like/want. But don’t say the dealer is putting all that in their pockets, it’s all on the invoice. Sheesh man wtf did u sell

Gulf State are put on OEM packages or options, toyota ship to GS a bare bone vehicle, then GS add on the options. American vehicle add these options at the plant...not like dent guards or nitrogen tires that dealers add on... you have to start listing these "GS add on" Don't mislead with context for views
