funny, i've been using them for a year or two, they changed logo n i had good service at the beginning with issues on my old macs. but recently the support was like none like a call center in india who can't understand your question. so i've been thinking of stopping using them.
Repost from Edward Snowden The at least until recently CIO of big VPN ExpressVPN is one of the three former U.S. intelligence operatives who agreed today not to fight charges they illegally helped UAE hack people. Kind of makes you think.
I've used both ExpressVPN and Nord. ExpressVPN is much, much better. Nord's customer service is absolutely horrible. I paid for a 3-year subscription, and after one month, it stopped working. When I contacted tech support for help, they just told me they couldn't do anything because China had updated their firewall, and Nord didn't know when they could break through, basically. I paid for three years, and only ended up with one month's service, and they refused to give me a refund, even after following their back-end modification advice. Even after updating the app, it didn't fix the problem for several months. Any problem with Express gets resolved immediately. Nord doesn't give a damn about their customers. All VPNs are iffy in China in regards to connection, so your best bet is to choose one that is understanding of this, and cares about customers.
I was gonna choose Nord, but good thing I used ExpressVPN and only the paid VPN I used. Now this made me think to not use Nord, I mean don't get me wrong, NordVPN is still a good VPN, and has multi-hop feature (which ExpressVPN don't have).
Ummm don't get me wrong it isn't the VPN. The government made it illegal to have VPN on computers. They don't care what you were looking up or have what kind of data. I believe you get sentenced to like 10 to 15 years for even using VPNs.
Thank you for taking the time to share such an honest product review. I know it takes a lot to put together a video. This one is very informative, non-biased, objective... very rare on the internet nowadays. THANK YOU very much!
Quality video and good channel. I'm looking for alternatives to reduce my digital footprint, and this channel has been very helpful. You're a small channel, but thank you for the hard work for the quality of content, and effort. Earned my sub!
Very objective reviews (this one and the others about VPNs). What you don’t pay attention to, I notice, is the ability to overcome geoblockers. That’s probably because you don’t use their servers in various countries, which I do. I dropped ExpressVPN and others because they did not work in places like Italy, Argentina, Australia, and even the UK.
thanks for providing a brief and straightforward approach to VPNs. I am a cyber student and don't like the idea that we're turning homework in that shows my private IP. I'm a subscriber after 2 of your videos. I'll be sure to catch up on your vid library. Thanks!
Sorry to dig up this old video, but when you published it, Express VPN was just bought by a company that made it's fortune by creating and selling malware. It was a direct delete and request for removal of my data for me.
I think you can't go wrong with either. I did a side-by-side comparison here that you can check out: www.allthingssecured.com/reviews/vpn-review/expressvpn-vs-nordvpn/

They have been offering a full 30 day trial with no card needed so yeah for that reason alone I like express vpn because you don't need a card to start your free trial (Even the 7 day registration trial!)
Hey Josh, you seem to be a really nice guy and I did enjoy your speech and the way you talk. Thanks for teaching me those details because I am also using this VPN and I live in Asia just like you. Keep up the great work
Great video. But, I do have a question that I hope you can answer for me. I have VPN but, not sure where to point it. I'm currently living in Germany. How do I know which country to point the direction of my VPN in? Thanks for any advice that you can give me.
I'm new to your channel, but loved the straightforwardness of your explanations. I have a unique situation I'd love your input on. I gamble online, and for offshore sites, I need a vpn, but for legal gambling sites like Fanduel, they won't allow me to have a vpn running on my computer, while I'm logged into their site. I am hoping to be able to have both sites open concurrently, so I can place bets in real time at the best odds. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks anyway, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for sharing your research on ExpressVPN. Your information provides a good background for understanding this essential app for data security.
Just paid for Expressvpn setup and it's updating for hours! No option on the upper left hand corner. Nothing works! SOS HELP! Have to go over seas soon. Android 11 I have and Expressvpn I downloaded for Android apk
I have paid a full year for Express VPN but I can't sign into it because their customer service is almost non existent. There was a fool named Johann and he tried for 3 hours to reconnect me and it didn't work so now they won't give back the money and I don't have VPN
I still use ExpressVPN despite the news, but then again I only use it for geoblocking as an expat, so I’m not concerned about security as much. I don’t think that’s what VPNs are useful for.
Assuming you connect to an open WiFi at the airport, visit the express vpn web page to log in - can’t this process be intercepted potentially exposing your user and password? or is it required of user to use the app to connect instead? Also can you explain why setting up express vpn on an iOS device prompts a notification that, “All network activity on this iPhone may be filtered or monitored when using vpn.” Thanks in advance.
You would need to use the app to connect, not the website. Also, the notification is a new feature with iOS, and it’s true - when connected to a VPN, you are filtering all of your internet activity through the VPN company. It’s a risk you’re taking by trusting them, which is why it’s important to know who you’re trusting.
If we don't know who really owns it, and in which country the whole company is located and you don't know, what the company really does with your data, nothing the company claims has any meaning.
Perhaps someone can help me. I subscribe to express for years now. I play a game that has MANY offers to spend$$$. It used to be that if i changed location to belgium, ads went buh bye. For the last month it hasn't. What changed, and can i fix it
Hello, what vpn would you recommend to use with a gaming console to protect my IP address being leaked in games that use peer2peer servers? Is express vpn easy to set up on a router? Because that is how I think it can be used with a gaming console.
You need to check your settings, split tunneling....make sure you are using properly. You also have to make it is turned on in order for it to work, that usually helps
No, they won’t be able to see as the core router logs will simply show the connection to the Expressvpn server depending on what protocol you have set up it could be L2TP, Wire Guard or maybe UDP but you should be more concerned about Expressvpn they claim they don’t store logs but remember that they can so this is based on Trust. If you believe the company is trustworthy and will honour its policy not to store logs then you’ll be fine. However do note it was acquired by a firm in Israel and its ex CIO according to the Justice department developed Zero click attacks for the UAE government. This isn’t hearsay and you can verify this as it’s public information. Considering its current ownership I would not recommend you even download the app.
Never buy express VPN they deactivate my account for no reason and the not even explaining why ? "Hello, We wanted to notify you that we have found your ExpressVPN account to be in violation of our Terms of Service. As such, we will be closing your account today and issuing you a full refund of our service. Refunds will be processed within seven (7) days, and are made to the original form of payment used for purchase. We appreciate your understanding and thank you in advance for your cooperation."
@@cjyeoh5598 Astrill works like a charm. Partially because it's less known than some of the bigger VPN companies. The bigger VPN companies are often under more strict scrutiny from the CCP.
I can respect that. To be fair, I don't know what of their operations is based in Hong Kong, only that they do a lot of banking out of Hong Kong (since that's where the affiliate checks come from).
FORGET MONEY BACK -- 30-day Trial is a sham, contact does not work, return email does not work. BOTTOM LINE don't expect a refund when you find all this spin is not for you.
@@AllThingsSecured It's been 3 months and I didn't get your reply until @Content Eater responded. I love this publisher. Anyway, ExpressVPN and every other mainstream VPN have told influencers to tell people that they can act as an all-in-one privacy solution; obviously, a VPN doesn't provide that service. Ex. Facebook isn't stupid. VPN IPs are public knowledge and they know that your new IP is just you using a VPN on your old IP; your user profile and all the information you feed it is still there. This is an extreme example but it illustrates the point that good opsec/hiding your PII isn't realistic with one tool and no knowledge.
@@contenteater just searched up "expressvpn sponsored" got this lol. Ironically enough, it's in a video exposing raid sponsorships: /watch?v=OZyM9kfOotk&t=33s He mentions that it'll stop you from getting hacked and that ExpressVPN can't see your data. These are blatant lies. He also claims that he got his password stolen over public wi-fi which isn't even a thing anymore.. ht(RU-vid thinks it's a link if I type it normally)tps kinda closed that issue in that your traffic is encrypted (even over public wi-fi) unless you're on a site that doesn't support ht(RU-vid thinks it's a link if I type it normally)tps.
When you're in a country that tracks and punishes using Filesharing-Sites like Torrent (e.g. USA, Germany etc.), is a VPN safe or are they gonna track you anyway?
Hmm...I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction and get you in trouble here. It encrypts your data, but it might be possible for the country to know you’re connected to a VPN and then find other ways to figure out what you’re doing.
@@CrucialConflict. ditto. I've been using PIA for many years-and AFAIK it is the least expensive commercial VPN. However, next time I buy an annual subscription I will look for a VPN not based or registered in the USA or any other country that is likely to issue a court order to a VPN within its jurisdiction. The no logs policy most popular VPNs declare is useless when a court orders a VPN to log a particular user's online activity and locations-and that order includes a gag order regarding the logging order, so then the user is not notified that he will henceforth be logged and reported to the government. If the VPN does not comply the court can order the VPN to shut down, confiscate all its equipment, and jail the operators. The issue here is not whether you trust the VPN, it is whether you trust the government who has legal authority over the VPN. Many countries also have cooperative arrangements that allow interdiction across many other countries. So...choosing your country is more critical than choosing your VPN.
I'm their customer 2 years now. But since i started to comment against Un. States in Ukraine war, speaking just the truth, i saw very weird things like when writing something, VPN express protection has gone without warning(!) and start again immediately when i enter their application, without the need to push any button!!! And some other things... I suspect that somebody in their company, doesn't like anybody who writes against United States OR NSA keep an eye on me...
