Cheers for this! I want to throw some lights up on my bookshelves but was really annoyed that there didn't seem to be a way to do this from Govee. Now I know what to do. Much appreciated!

Thanks for uploading this, it's very useful. I do have a question and my apologies if this was asked already but, after the cut and reconnecting will the lights still change colors? Meaning if I use the DIY light settings will it still work? Thanks for any assistance!

I've recently bought the new Govee Cube Wall Lights. I was thinking of buying more but the area has a chimney breast that would mean I would have to separate the cube for each side of the breast. Any idea what type of wire gauge they would be and how many strand within them. Cheers.

Not sure on gauge resistance at this time. I would suggest just going to your local electical store and tell them what you need it for and they should be able to help.

Hi. I'm struggling with the cutting and extending part of these particular lights. Govee says ABSOLUTELY DO NOT cut these lights as they'll stop working. I need to make several extensions and 90 degree turns for my application. I know your video shows that you can in fact cut and extend these Govee RGBIC lights but are there any consequences to this? some people say that you lose some of the functionality from the app and other video posters show the strips failing after cutting. I'm so confused. I just need to know for SURE that if I cut and connect as shown in your video, the RGBIC lights will function as intended with no issues. The model of outdoor RGBIC strip I'm considering is the Govee H6172. Thanks so much for your help!
@fluxautomate
@fluxautomate 7 месяцев назад
Use my link to the products that I'm demonstrating in the video that are the H619A. Also make sure to use the connectors that I'm using and this process definitely works with no issues as long as you use the light strips and connectors and cable that I'm using. All products are in the description. If the light strips that you have don't have the copper connection points then I would strongly advise not to cut them. NOTE this Video demonstrates how to use one complete light strip and extend in-between. NOT adding adding another strip on the end of another strip, this is where you might run into problems as the power adapter that come with the lights is weighted to power only a certain length of lights. Hope this helps 👍🏾
@SidharthSen
@SidharthSen Месяц назад
hey! is there any to inject power into these leds lights? I split a 5 m strip into 50 cm segments (solder points are at each 50 cm mark). However with all the wires and extensions it seems the second half of the system is not receiving enough power.
@fluxautomate
@fluxautomate Месяц назад
Not to sure about that. The lights will be rated to a certain amount of voltage/ampage. Make sure to not exceed the manufacturer guidelines.

I’m trying to buy give Govee RGBIC which is one strip but it’s always 2 so I’m gonna cut the first one and attach to the second one. Will I lose out on features in the app?

Hmmmm not to sure. Depends on the specific strip. I would suggest getting the M1 strips to do that as they are build to enable you to extend. Check out the link in my video for the specific link.

Question, can you connect an rgbic to rgbic so you could have a more seamless picture? On top of that, can you still use the customizability on the app?
@fluxautomate
@fluxautomate 5 месяцев назад
Most likely not able to use rgbic as the app reads/assigns the number and location of each LED if you so controlling additional LEDs may not work.

Is there a restriction on length of joiner cable ? I tested it with a short piece all was perfect then with a 4.5 m 4 strand cable it is only light the first 1-2meters of a 10m run with some red blue green clusters further on flashing in sequence. Not sure if it’s the cable or the joiners or the length and I have them mounted already 🙈

You have to make sure the extension doesn't have too much resistance as this will affect the current (the strength of the electricity running through)

@@cubanb5401 search power injection for LED's. Essentially anywhere you're having issues you need to inject whatever voltage your system operates on along the path. You could also try to increase the amperage of the power supply.

I heard from govee self that the m1 matter cant be cut and extended and there can't be a connector betweet the led. @fluxautomate
@fluxautomate 8 месяцев назад
Glad the video helped. What will happen is there will not be the correct current running through the strip so the lights nearing the end of the strip won't get enough power so won't perform as required. The result could be a dimming of the lights as a whole or the lights nearing the end will be an incorrect colour. Hope this helps 👍🏾

I bought Govee RGB Smart Wi-Fi + Bluetooth LED Strip Lights and extension strips 1M but It'll so confused as to how to connect them- it seems like they sold me extensions, but the rgb can't be extended? It looks so dumb in my son's room, because the two rgb strips (5m each) that comes f from the present source is just around 30 cm short connecting to meet on the middle. That's why I bought extenders, to make our all the way round the ceiling. Can I extend that little snippet with an extendor clip? Even though I don't have RGBIC?

Yeah you can only extend like for like products. If you extend and having issues it may be down to the power supply not having enought volts or amps. Hope this helps 👍

You should be able to cut any lights at the correct point. Just some lights you cannot add additional lengths. Main reason is the app won't identify anything longer and in addition the power supply that comes with it won't be strong enough to power any extra lengths and may malfunction. @@fluxautomate I ended up finding the issue. The app has a setting where you tell the app how many LEDs it's lighting. It was on 80 which I guess is default since the set comes designed to be used as 80 on one strand and 80 on the other. But I spliced the strands to each other to make 100ft so I had to change it to 160 LEDs and it works. I found the solution on a another Govee video where they had to do the same for their Govee strands they extended.

When in the app at the very bottom there are a few icons. The one furthest to the right looks like a 4 box window. Once you click on it there is timer, schedule, strip light pixel number set, and adjust line order. You want to select strip light pixel number set. This is where you set the number of LEDs.
