I really hope teams start doing their own thing soon The Dakar is so much more enjoyable if you’re able to follow it and not a summary hours after the stage is done For example if you know Spanish, team Rieju has a RU-vidr with them posting daily videos and blogging the experience, the downside is the videos obviously come out later than the stage
Exactly...dakar coverage so far hasn't been able to justify the grandeur of the event. These highlights are "better" but still don't capture the greatness of the event
Incredible effort that goes into filming, getting the footage, editing and doing the voice-over in 4 different languages in just a few hours. Keep it up! It's also interesting to hear what the drivers say in their original languages without the dub-over, so I'm thankful you upload all the other videos.
Dear Team Dakar. You do an amazing job with these daily summaries! But one thing, could you show the stage times for a few seconds before you put the overall times? It would be really nice to see who comes out on top each day. Thanks so much again for your great coverage!
Yeah, I am missing the stage results this year too. No idea what the FIM Rally Raid world cup is, and why that would interest us more than the stage results, but will not complain much because the new extended highlights is very decent compared to how ridiculous the coverage was other years here in youtube.
@@rickrussell No, that's how much compensation time each rider has gotten so far, for being one of the first three to reach certain waypoints before the refuelling point from Stage 3 to Stage 8.
These guys are true heroes. There is something about this type of race where camaraderie, technical skills, technology, and a little bit of luck attracts a bunch of us…love it! Thanks for the videos :)
These highlights are AMAZING, they only lack one MAJOR thing - and which attracted me the first time I watched the Dakar- the fabulous areal shots of the desert sceneries!!! That's what I mostly enjoy (of course beside the exciting competition)
9:39 - just to complete the info about the truck's name - it is a (kinda historical) Czech automotive brand Praga - so she is called Lady Praga 🙂 Not sure if Aleš Loprais is a big fan of Lady Gaga or if it's just a joke...or coincidence?😁
😂 people commenting about the speed, you know these tracks don’t remain the same year to year, it’s not fair comparing it to a sealed road. it’s unlikely more than half the race you’ll even be close to 160km. Wait till you’re had an off-road injury from pushing limits then you’ll understand. You win Dakar through being the most technically competent on the hard rough terrain that requires both speed and technical ability. There’s only a set amount of speed you can crest a dune on without over shooting it and injuring yourself. there’s ways to improve this response time, body movements, line positions. Forcing the rear as you land and wheelie out. None of those are how fast you can twist your wrist. The speed commenters are “ I gOT A LiTRe bIKe BrO, I aM FaSt” followed by “I hAd To LaY HEr DowN” because of your absolutely lack of skill.

Is there a reason why we never ear about prokop? He is top 3...?
To all that make these videos possible and put them together 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Thank you 😊 I really do appreciate it all. Watching all from 1977 up to today it just keeps getting better.
A bit disappointed about the huge screentime for the bikes, when there is a large European fanbase for the trucks. How much did you allow them? 1.10 minutes?
Would be nice If the Ranking for the day would be shown. :) Otherwise its great! Wouldnt mind If it would be longer haha. Excited to See where Mason klein is going to Finish!
NOBODY BECOMES A MILLIONAIRE OR A......BILLIONAIRE BY WORKING FOR OTHERS AND DEPENDING ON THEM, GOOD INVESTMENT BRING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, AND CONSISTENCY BRING BILLIONS, THE MARKET IS ALL ABOUT BTC AT THE MOMENT NOW..............
Ah, calling me out for criticizing the speed penalties, I see. Well, at the very least I understand the reasoning, but I am of the opinion that there are other ways to increase the safety of the sport without imposing speed limits. In my opinion, I think that the competitiveness of the sport is ruined by imposing speed limits.
@theguywiththeface the point of speed limits is safety mate. Reduces the risk of massive life threatening accidents. So yeah not supporting safety limits is like wanting people to die
@@enukapasan Wow. I said "there are other ways to increase safety without imposing speed limits", and you heard "I want people to die because I don't support safety regulations." Are you touched in the head or something? There's putting words in my mouth, and then there's just being completely disingenuous. Dakar could do what pretty much every other racing series does, and instead of imposing speed limits ON A RACE, they could instead install electric speed limiters in the vehicles, or restrict the size of the engine or HP numbers. That would allow drivers to be able to focus on the race instead of worrying about potential speed penalties, and in my opinion would increase the competitiveness and enjoyment of the race for both the drivers AND the spectators. Now, I understand that this is my opinion, but to act like I want people to die because I think there are better ways to decrease the speed and increase the safety of the sport is downright awful, and I hope you're proud of yourself.
To all those complaining about speed limits. Please go and watch some of the crashes we've had in this and previous Dakars WITH the 160kmph limit, especially in the bikes category, and see how serious they can be. Taka a moment to think about the 3 riders we've already lost in the Saudi editions of the Dakar, and another moment to think of the families of the competitors currently racing and the stress they're going through. 160kmph is plenty fast for competition, of which there's more than enough considering the navigation, endurance and technical riding aspects of this event. Also, I noticed that the Isle of Man TT was mentioned as an example to follow. Are you aware that a lot of riders refuse to participate in the IoM TT due to the extreme risks? Would we really want that for the Dakar?
They could electronically limit the top speed of the vehicles. You can tell by watching the racers that the speed penalties are not well recieved, and in my opinion are not a good solution to this problem. Every other race on the planet that's concerned with safety takes other measures, like reducing HP numbers or engine sizes. The speed penalties are a knee-jerk, and closed-minded solution to a problem that the racing world has already for the most part solved. I also find it funny that you state that I was (and yes, it was me who said it) using the Isle of Man TT as an example to follow. No, that's not what I meant by that, and you know it. My point of using Isle of Man as an example was to explain how every human being in the world has to decide on what level of risk they're willing to accept in order to achieve their goals. Racing is inherently a dangerous sport, and some people choose to accept that risk, and some don't. The Isle of Man is special because it involves a significantly higher risk than other racing, and as such the people who enter do so knowing that. There's a reason why they're respected as the most ballsy among us. I understand that it's not for everybody, but it is an example of a sport where people have accepted the risk involved.
I love these highlights but guys like Hank Lategan and Lucas morais are SECOND and THIRD overall and get no airtime!! the whole show focuses on the same guys every day (Loeb, Sainz, Peterhansel etc) and these two guys are in the PODIUM and barely even get mentioned!! let alone shown. WHY???
Everyone complaining about the 160kph limit, but until you knew about it nobody was complaining about the race competiveness... I just wonder if cars are similarly capped on top speed?
🙋🏼♀ 2 fast.. safty for animals ? for rider i can agree as the back can be hurt, no back mean not beaing able to silt or lay down.. i knew that 1st hand.. had to switch sit lay down sit lay down.. and no it was not a pain in the ass, only my back..
@@bremCZ Right, apologies. In the spoken word I believe both are considered acceptable, as most cannot grasp the concept, but Howes's would fail a spoken test. If you look very carefully you will see there are two apostrophes after house. I then gave up on the apostrophes, as my fingers struggle to type. As an aside, I thought the possessive apostrophe was to be abandoned (which, btw, I think is appalling, and just a dumbing down)?
@@mikeconey2164 I see them. It is mine which is missing the apostrophe. What I meant to say was that house' cannot be the possessive of house. It must have the possessive S after the apostrophe.
Ok. No. Limiting Topspeed in Motorsport is just stupid. Imagine going down Mulsanne at a Speed limited 250kph or something. Either go all out or don't bother racing
