In this video I had the pleasure to speak with Prof Brian Kennedy whose lab is currently based at The Centre for Healthy Aging in the National University of Singapore. The lab uses multiple animal models combined with human studies to understand the mechanisms driving biological aging and to develop interventions designed to extend healthspan and lifespan. Prof Kennedy is also the former President and CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in Novato, California. In this video we discuss the current work that he is conducting in Singapore including the human aging clinical trials investigating biomarkers and the influence of the intervention alpha ketoglutarate (AKG). In addition we chat about what we can expect for the future for extending healthspan and discuss other aging biomarkers and challenges to achieving scalable and cost-effective health care approaches.
