Getting a trailer, told them to extend it! They said that they can only extend it 12 inches, so i told them to reduce the v nose from 3ft-2ft!

Did you ever measure the before/after on what the tongue weight against the hitch ball is? I know you are looking to do a tongue box, but sti would be cool to know how much the extension impacted tongue weight

Nice job on your tongue. I have a 7x14 in close trailer that I did the same thing to, I added 24 " to mine. I would of like to have it done the way you have yours.but my welder did it a different way than yours. I wish I new how to send you a picture the way mine look but I can't figure out how to send it. But I agree with you with the longer tongue a lot easier to back up with. Have a great day.

I have damaged my new trailer 3 different times by jackknifing it into my truck camper. I appreciate the ideas. I also tow with a Nissan (Titan XD) and Super Hitch never made a Titan model. So, extending my tongue is the only way to go. Though my trailer is all aluminum so I need to find a welder guy who can burn aluminum together. Cheers from Oregon!

I love adding tongue length. I don’t know why manufacturers make trailers that are so easy to jackknife. Good luck finding someone to work with aluminum!

If you wanted to make the tongue jack removable for more clearance, you could add a weld-on ring mounted jack. You could add two more rings on the exterior, behind the fenders for changing tires. Jack up the rear corners- no need for a separate jack.

I’m actually going to add a powered jack once I have the 12 volt system installed on the trailer.

Here in Australia from the 1st July 2023 any work on the trailer chassis and drawbar has to be built and manufactured by a qualified engineer who has a valid engineers certificate

@@MrRobinskibefore the new law were enforced we could register and self assess home made trailers as long as it had the VIN number stamped on the chassis or drawbar and have a trailer compliance place bolted/pop riveted on the trailer chassis, now that the new law has been enforced from the 1st July 2023 the laws have made it difficult for anyone to build trailers to get a vin number from car registration/drivers license offices we now have to show a valid engineering certificate to them before they can give us the vin number, we’re not allowed to fill out our trailer compliance plate anymore, before registration all trailers must be assessed and load tested by a registered, certified and licensed trailer engineer and they fill out our trailer compliance plates from there and they must be put on the registration of approved vehicles data before registration

It really depends on the trailer and I had some steel repair done at the same time. the best bet is to get a quote from a fabricator in your area.

This really scary. I was just showing my wife how my 7x16 enclosed trailer tongue is too short now that I mounted a HMMWV military bumper and tire carrier on my Z71 Tahoe. The tire will hit the jack. I told her this morning that I may have to get another trailer with a factory manufactured extended tongue, then I told her what the current prices were for that. So here I am on YT and your channel comes up in the recommended viewing list. Wow!

@@KempOutside I am in SE N. Carolina. I used to drive OTR hauling glass and other specialized items. I would make runs to the Tampa and Sarasota area glass houses fairly often. In the truck it was a 9ish hour run to Tampa. If I lived down that way I would definitely have Evan hook me up. I do have a few places here that I need to check out. I will show them your video on how the tongue was done and re-enforced. Thanks, Paul'
