A really good idea to bolster the insulating properties around the foundation. Everyone always enjoys your attention to detail. Look forward to next week’s video.

Nice to see someone else doing this work, I spent a goof 6 weeks digging out, cleaning and repairing the concrete, waterproofing with bitumen and gluing insulation boards. But the soil at your place looked much easier to dig, a bit sandy and loose instead of the water logged (never had so much rain in the spring) sticky yellow clay which sits around my house, and the concrete of your house was also much smoother and straight. They used formwork for your foundation while at my house a dry mix was simply stamped in the dug out trench, was was the normal way in the 1930s, it gives a coarse uneven surface wit a lot of holes and pores, fail to close one such pore with the bitumen application and the whole exercise is for nothing, the water will drip down the basement wall on the inside, hence I did a minimum of two layers. But in your case one layer is sufficient as it was poured concrete and that in general is already relative water tight, you take all the essential steps to get a good final result, and material choice (XPS) and workmanship (Sealed all the joints properly) are an example, I have seen professionals doing a much shoddier job.

Hope everyone is doing well. Another smart idea with covering the foundation. That oak tree you dug up will look proper planted around the house. Needed to be removed so close to the house.
