I have always been a big fan of Jimmie Vaughan's playing and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Learned this tune many years ago and decided to give it a go. Missed a couple of notes, anyways Jimmie's style is the best. maximpa...
Nice job! This is literallly the song that got me to start playing guitar. I've got about half a dozen kinda cool stories that revolve around Jimmie & this tune...I'm just gettin' ready to post a recording Ihaave of him doing a ten-minute version of Extra Jimmies In Seattle in 1985--kinda at the height of his "gunslinger" mojo lol--that no sh*t brought the f***n HOUSE DOWN...ten-minute howling, hooting, standing ovation. The best part of that came fifteen years later lol. Too long a series of connected anecdotes to type out here..maybe I'll make a "sidecar" vid to accompany to accompany the Astor Park nightclub recording when I post it. Cheers, man! Jimmie's always been my pole star. ;) (Here's a link to my YT page [ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_as8YcP32IA.html ] in case you want to catch me for a copy of that 1985 set.. ;) For me the other standout highlight of that night was his sollos on "Full-Time Lover"...never heard him quite as on fire as on that night, honestly. ;) ) -- Mark "Troublemonkey" Collen
Hey Mark! Yeah Jimmie is definitely one of the best, I just recently watched a longer Extra Jimmies live version and was blown away one more time, his playing is just on another level.. really happy to meet real blues fans here! Cheers from cold cold Russia! Best, Max
