This is precisely how Church and State relations ought to be. The State allows and even promotes the autonomous operation of the spiritual leaders (monastics as foremost among them), whilst simultaneously accepting their dialogue and guidance. The State however should never abdicate its position to the monks
@TheeJoey1978 He's not too bad, and let's face it, any non-Orthodox Christian isn't going to be able to appreciate the Holy Mountain in the same way as Orthodox Christians
Vezi ca grecoteii au furat de la ciobanii aromani Muntele Athos si i-dat afara. in prezent nu permit ca romanii sa aiba o manastire ci numai un 'schit'. Pana si calugarii greci sunt hoti.
Following them We sent Our (other) Messengers, and We sent following in their footsteps, (Prophet) Jesus, the son of Mary and gave him the Gospel, and put tenderness and mercy in the hearts of his followers. As for monasticism, they invented it thereby seeking the pleasure of Allah. We did not write it for them, and they did not observe it as it should be observed. We gave to those of them who believed their wage, but many of them are impious. (27)
I have never understood human beings secluding themselves into gender-specific communes and cutting themselves off from the world. It always seems to me to be contrary to the teachings of Christ.
Not really...it certainly is Not contrary to Christ's teaching. Even Christ Himself left for 40 days to be on his own and pray. Asceticism has been part of Christian life since the end of the prosecution Era...i.e. Since the 4th century AD. Some people had this very strong desire to imitate the Martyrs of the Church i.e. The ones who were killed by the Roman Empire, and since the persecutions stoped in 323AD with Constantine the Great, some inspired Christians wanted to follow a path of Martyrdom, and imitate the Martyrs in their Love for Christ. But as there were no longer persecutions, the only way was self denial through asceticism. /monasticism. Its not for everyone.
A word of advice: when you see something that is being practiced for about 2000 years by every historical Church and you get a thought that it isn’t inline with the teaching of Christ - chances are a lot higher that you or your local pastor are mistaken and not the Church that has been established by the Apostles... this thinking should be applied to every other doubt which will then get you to a genuine interest which will eventually point to the truth and not the biased 21st century interpretation of the scripture...
@@sebastianmelmoth685 He had a different task to fulfill , obeying His Father. Our job is, with His Help, is to follow his example.....as much as we can....as i mentioned before, monasticism or asceticism these days (or at any era), is not for everyone.....we can only do what we can do....
