My theory to why the 13th Doctor's Sonic looks a bit naff and why the Master's laser screwdriver looks good is because the 13th doctor built hers in a span of a few minutes (short time) whilst the Master had the Doctor's TARDIS... I think he had a bit more time then 13... I know he wasn't Prime Minister for 18 months it was just the Archangel Network making people think that... if he can build an effective satellite and a paradox machine in a short space of time then I'm sure he can build a decent laser device. But... its just a theory I could be wrong... and The Master is slightly smarter than The Doctor.

After seeing the leaked images of the Tardis interior its kinda making more sense a little, but character options really have done a shit Job of recreating the sonic device.

Honestly I really like the new screwdriver and what I think you guys aren’t getting about it is that she was working with scrap metal and juts whatever she could find she didn’t have her tardis to help her so obviously she isn’t going to get a great one right off the bat and she had to make one quickly

In defense of the 13th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver: The Master's Laser Screwdriver was built by his War Incarnation(played by Derek Jacobi) after the Child Incarnation regenerated when he was fighting in the war on Gallifrey, before he used the Chameleon Arch to escape the Time War. The new Sonic Screwdriver was made to look like a Swiss Army Knife(only without the knife). The Sonic Screwdriver has been using the same straight line basis for the past 50+ years, and it was probably time to give it a new line basis. This Sonic Screwdriver feels great in the hand, and the design doesn't look as mechanically complicated like the previous 2 Sonics.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I like this design it’s unique just like having a female doctor after 12 regenerations of male doctors.

Side note: When the Master made his laser screwdriver he had stolen the Doctor’s TARDIS to build the Paradox machine. He could* have used parts from inside the TARDIS to build his laser screwdriver. Just a thought. I agree with the notion it looks like crap as a toy. Wish there was more HD photos from the series of it for better comparison.

yes votesaxon07 the masters laser screwdriver was built on earth but he had the tardis its obvious that he found the pieces in the tardis where the 13th doctor built her's from scratch with no tardis

I think this new Sonic Screwdriver is not of time lord design but from another species the doctor learns about in her first episode, making a part on the misery and story.

I remember when I first laid my eyes on the new sonic screwdriver and my exact words were “OH WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!”

One thing that was mentioned in this that I am 100% with is this is not the screwdriver's actual form. The main body is a cacoon-like structure. So The Doctor yanks this out of the TARDIS quickly, but it's not actually finished being made. Throughout the first outing, the screwdriver isn't functioning correctly and The Doctor is getting annoyed. At the very end, the main body melts away to reveal a very clean, shiny and basic yet weird design, to which the screwdriver starts working perfectly and we can all flush these toys down the toilet where they belong.

all of the sonics have been beautiful and pristine, having a female Doctor is a MASSIVE change, so everything has to change not just the Doctor, Doctor Who is about a unique weird funky alien who runs around the universe fighting aliens, everything is unique. Doctor Who is ALL about change, you can't just give up on it because it has a new weird looking sonic, and an even weirder looking TARDIS interior, please don't give up on Doctor Who, I've loved the show since 2005 and hopefully I/we will still love it (if it doesn't get cancelled) in another 50 years, if Doctor Who gets cancelled my world will fall apart, i will love Doctor Who from here till the end of time itself (which means till my last dieing breath).

Hey Saxon, i''m not sure if your going to see this, but if you do i was wondering if you will consider doing a review on the new Tardis interior for the 13th doctor. I know that you have made a video of the 2 leaked images of the new Tardis interior, but a 3rd image leaked fairly recently and it's a picture of the console and the majority of the interior. I think it would be great to see your opinion on the new interior, if you want you could wait until the first few episodes air so you can avoid spoiling it, if that happens to be a concern. regardless I am interested on what you might have to say.

I'm glad you guys brought this video to light. I do feel the BBC is purposely trying to run doctor who into the ground now. After looking at some snap shots of the new interior of the TARDIS, which looks like some thing out if superman's fortress of solitude. I hope I'm wrong in saying so, but I really feel like the BBC has just given up with doctor who now. I feel sorry for Jodie she's going to be coming into the show with what is going to be the worst sonic and worst interior.

You cant really say which ones more accurate. You can with appearance but not with features. We don't know if the crystal light is misted or spins round or if the curved part can turn around aswell

Alright don’t get me wrong I love Stephen an Anthony both of them, I’ve watched every one of his videos since 2014 and when his channel was banned I immediately subscribed too the new one, I love all of Stephens reviews but I definitely prefer the old type of reviews he did not with Anthony, he would start with the box, the detail, exc.. and uno the white background. Watching the how he makes his review video where he reviewed The Big Chief Amy Pond Figure. I kind of understand why he’s changing up his review style, I takes his nearly 8 hours too make a review, so talking with Anthony is easier because it’s more of a discussion, I’ll always continue too watch his reviews because I love him as a person so much but I definitely prefer how he did his old reviews.

That would be amazing if this was a prototype for her first season, (if she lasts that long...) and then she makes a way better sonic.

Here's my opinion on the screwdrivers, I like them they look very alien and advance and it looks like it has that living metal from Galifrey that the cybermen wanted and I was told by a person that the doctor crash lands on earth and salvages some various metals to construct it. I would still buy these 2 I would use the seven twenty version for display and the character options with my sonic screwdriver collection.

I think that the idea of the emitter is the glowing of burning wood. Think about it. So far, all the promos have featured some sort of ash stuff and the logos either look like they're burnt it, you some sort of fiery effect. I think it's supposed to be burning wood tbh. Still sucks, but I don't think it's crystal.

Like you said, it should be a simple looking device. Its only a tool, surely thats what the new one is trying to do😂 im glad it looks like it does, the sonics now days are made for toys and thats it.

not to blow smoke up my own ass but I drew up a more sonic screwdriver like design in 4 minutes using similar basic concepts to this. to be fair, my design looks a tad similar to the 9th/10th and would probably realistically be in only a couple episodes because a diy, quickly built sonic is bound to look messy. it would be ok to use as a oneoff because the materials cost barely anything at their cheapest. main body is a clipper lighter, extended lower with some metal tubing cut from a broken vape pen (but could be any metal) and capped off with a screwdriver with the metal, well, screwdriver part snapped off. also with a crystal emitter held up in another thinner metal ring by some clear plastic struts. you can extend it by flicking it (can sometimes fall apart) or manually sliding it up. it's by no means amazing but at least mine extends 😅

I've been told the seven20 12th sonic screwdriver is actually the inferior one.

It's honestly sad that people try to sell both of these versions for a minimum price point of around 40€.

I wish to think the beer cans were laid there just so you could throw the lesser Turdildo at them. Good to see your destructive tendencies towards mediocre toymaking are as kept as always, Mr. McCulla. That said, I think the design had some interesting concepts, namely the kind of "organic" route one could see it heading towards. Unfortunately, the execution is at best naïvely carried on and at worst an insultingly underthought disaster. I think the main problem is the "cool" factor. It's barely grasping it with the light up body, but I'm having great difficulty picturing a child looking at this and being 100% sure they want to proudly own one, let alone asking their parents for it. Let's just hope the show itself makes it work, because it still can. This show tends to be good at making absurds work so I have faith in it, but should they fail with this, then be sure it'll be the core to which every other possible shortcoming will be stuck to, and they'll be ready to push it down towards the show at any moment. There we'll have a reason to worry.

There's a new team running Doctor Who now. So saying they gave up doesn't make sense it's all new and not aired an episode yet. Yes I do agree the new sonic looks bad. I've never disliked a sonic till now. Even tough Peter's was big it did look like the Tardis made it. Shame we didn't get to see enough of it in action.

it was the 12th doctor's sonic started the "Sonic Dildo" funny enough, when i first saw it i hated it and said the same but it has since grown on me (unlike the new eps) and am now wonder why people though that. It is by far, the most fugly sonic screwdriver design. I have also seen the leaked TARDIS interior, and damn is it an atrocity. Not looking forward to the new series. Really hope they make up for all the feminism, mork from Ork clothes, and horrid designs with good stories. Also hope all the designs are improved for the next series, if there is one.

I kinda like but at same I don't . but it doesn't have the feel of a sonic besides the top lighting and sounds a little bit like 10th and 11ths but I think the problem this was released too quick and would be a big understanding seeing in the show but seeing this with no clue or ideas just theories. is not a good idea to make a toy without seeing the episode because im seeing more childish jokes and hate.
