I'm a hobby beekeeper, and I really appreciate this video. I learned something from this. Too bad my hives had big trouble this year with the drought and a bought of "laying worker syndrome" so I probably will not get to use what I learned. :-(
Wait, do bees make honey for themselves, if not, for whom and why? If they do make it for themsevles, are we hurting the colony? Why make so much of it? Gosh, so many questions, sorry.
The pollen can be added separately to more concentrated pollen honey, which is more expensive. Did you see the comb honey ? It does not contain pollen, or very small limited amount. The cloth that was used was to filtering is totally different from the "honey" sold without pollen (as it is most often not honey, but industrially produced fructose syrup). Don't worry, as there are always pollen in naturally produced honey, as that is the way to determine where it was produced.
You mentioned not wanting to damage the comb, and I'm just curious as to why that's an issue. Wouldn't your filtering methods make the extra step unnecessary?
I think it's important to point out the dangers of unpasteurised honey, especially for kids under 1 year old as botulismmis a risk. I must say I'm tired of this anti-pasteurisation movement when it's just about making food safe using completely natural processes.
