You;re implying Ronnie has played better performances. why arent those matches better than this?? If it's the greatest match, it must be Ronnies greatest and not one of them.
3 of the greatest frames I’ve ever watched to win a match I’ll never forget watching this when it was live on tele, selby said ronnie was disrespectful in the way the got out of the snooker which was lucky however ronnie didn’t wanna get bogged down in a safety battle like he did in 2014 mark was just slowing his game down, and the last escape by ronnie is just sublime anyway
I've just seen this match for the first time as at the time I was staying away from "The NONSENSE" in the Himalayas...but after having watched it and hearing what you said about mark selby saying Ronnie was disrespectful the way he got out of the snooker , it suggested to me that what was more disrespectful was selby even suggesting that...Yes it seemed like Ronnie was just happy to "let the chips fall where they may" willing to accept the result whatever it may be....taking the gamble which in life as in life is the best way sometimes and maybe otherwise not....
@@carlrichards9333 The most disrecpectful (and somehow unfair) was one moment in 30 frame. Ronnie was snookered and missed on the first try. At this moment was really clear, that Selby will let him repeat the shot, there really wasn´t other reasonable option. But Selby looked 1 minute at the table, bevor he let Ronnie repeat the shot. Unfortunately, it worked, Ronnie played a mad shot and lost. It was a difference between 15:15 and 14:16... See here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xbLEBOK2f2Y.html
Slowbys usual tactics didn't work on ronnie and he couldn't take it ronnie out gunned him Out bottled him out played him Out gutted him ......and he didn't like it Well done ronnie you killed it With sublime skills and courage 🎉🎉 ROS = GOAT 🐐
Ronnie played 3 great frames with his back against the wall, but selby proved how great he is by coming back at him in the last frame after being frozen out for three frames. Two extrodinary players
My favourite thing about this match was not the game itself, but the interviews after. You can see in O'Sullivan's face that he can't believe going for broke actually worked, and Selby can't come to terms with the fact that it did. After so many occasions where Selby did O'Sullivan's head in over the years, O'Sullivan finally did Selby's head in to the point that Selby sounded like an entitled child after losing. O'Sullivan outsmarted the tactician by simply not participating in Selby's tactics and just trying to be better at potting balls.
That has to go down as the greatest semi final at the world championships. As 4 consecutive snookers 2 by both player and Ronnie to be victorious on this day.
Well said, but I feel Hendry and Alex Higgins were exactly the same! Both were fearless with any shot they faced. Perhaps the only difference being that Ronnie seemed to pot more when he went for them!
Yeah I was thinking that but I think just that one time tho not having a crowd in a weird way made it even more intense and memorable, don't get me wrong tho it's all about having a packed out live crowd
Being up against Ronnie must be like the hardest boss level in a computer game imagineable, can't give absolutely nothing away at all, and if your lucky enough to even get a chance you've seize the opportunity. Mezemeric safety exchange from both players, some of the safety from Selby was incredible! how the hell can you leave your opponent in such difficuilt positions only to come back to the table and find yourself tied in knots on mutliple occasions, incredible from Ronnie but fantastic from both these lads a great spectacle.
Ronnie is the only player on the planet who could be capable of turning a 16-14 deficit into a 17-16 win against Selby. Snooker fans today are so lucky to have such amazing talent in the game with the likes of Ronnie, Higgins, Williams, Trump and Selby just to name a few of the great players, I have been a Ronnie fan all of his career and I cannot wait to see the his lifts the record breaking 8th world championship of his career
the greatest day of snooker ever ronnie is the best player ever the greatest player in the world i was over the moon when he won the world championship again it was amazing my favourite player in the world. 👍👍👍👍
What a harsh lesson for Selby. He's not better than Ronnie as he thinks, he's not even close. Ronnie is a genius and he should've had far more tiles cos many times he beat himself trying overambitious stuff
I like to look at it this way. Imagine 2 of the best players in the world playing a money match in your local club but nobody knows. Just pure snooker, no audience. One of the best matches we'll ever see.
Best thing was Selby's pathetic interview after the match when he accused Ronnie of disrespecting him - oh boohoo Selby did you lose? Can you not take it?
Selby only tries to hoover up when others miss Hes a snooker scrounger Pitty he can't pot as well as he can play safe lmfao 🤣 Ronnie makes his own luck by playing the game in it's purest form and thats why there all afraid of him because he just goes for it 🎉 Well done RONNIE O'SULLIVAN THE GOAT 🐐 🎉SIR
It makes me laugh when he says '..ah, that looks like a stroke of luck for O'Sullivan..' It's not luck. It's a gift. He has given so many gifts to the world, so many moments of sheer exhilaration, it is simply a gift in return. Pretty sure that's how the universe works. He is an artist of exquisite quality. Sublime, effortless perfection. Sometimes. I love that it's sometimes.
No Hollywood-writer could script a matchfinal like this! ❤ Give away frame 30, let Selby no Chance in 31th and 32nd... running forward after savetybattle, misses the winning red, selby takes the chance till the awkward red comes up... Then: clash of the century between snooker Titans! ❤ Freaking love it! 🎉
This is one of the best comebacks against Selby who beat him many times on frame deciders it's such a shame no fans can you imagine the atmosphere I love Ronnie I've watched this about 200 times no joke I was screaming I let out all me anger and nerves in me room honestly watching sport like this live I feel like I'm go a have a heart attack I know for a fact I do be more nervous
If this is an example of Eurosport commentating on a snooker match, I'll be sure to give it a miss in future. There wasn't even any attempts by the commentators to hide their favouritism for Selby! Good commentary, as you'll get from those who have actually played the game and know what they are talking about, is appreciated. Not a couple of numpties from your local pub pulling Ronnie's game to bits because they've sneaked in an extra snifter! Unbiased commentary! Whoever is playing!
Love Ronnie and my favourite player ever....But...to say greatest game etc is typical of modern life...such short memories...Davis v Higgins or Davis v Taylor were off the charts for drama ..and TV audiences were Astronomical for those ..halcyon days
like your thinking mate, like you the look on Selby's face, especially when Ronnie had a big hit from the snooker on final red on decider and it went safe, Selby called Ronnie disrespectful
Do you not think, doing it for a living, maybe the commentators are more aware that they are breathing directly into the mic… having to watch this video on mute.
I don’t think Selby ever recovered from this match, he’s never been the same player. His mental struggles are well known but this game can screw up your mind.
Even though he's the best ever and even though he's done the impossible time and time again, going into this frame I thought he was dead and buried then, he goes out and produces arguably his greatest mini session to steal the match like it was nothing. Unbelievable
I found myself disliking Selby without ever giving him a chance. I now realise that was because he was the only player that had the game to beat and disrupt Ronnies trophy tally on a consistant basis.
Is this the match that afterwards Mark Selby really ‘let himself down’ in the interview, in really making excuses and blaming Ronnie for ? something !!
I watch this video every so often. It is simply peak snooker. Selby is probably my favourite player because I really enjoy his safety and match play. Some say its boring, I say its a work of art. Give me a tense safety battle over a 147 any day. Anyway, as ruthless and incredible as Selbys matchplay and safety is, Ronnie, in the right mood, is better. That is pretty scary knowing how mentally stern Selby is.
and always remember - mcgill and wilson even topped it in the way of dramatics, but this semi final here was, with no doubt, the greater battle when it comes to quality! (not that i would say mcgill and wilson weren't great at all, too!)
