I think kids like Thea doesnt just need rules and punishments, but also room to make honest mistakes and words of wisdom and guidance. That was the (mostly) perfect environment for her to learn and grow. Every child learns differently and I think these parents were good at setting rules, expectations and boundaries from the jump. Then being flexible as they observed the kids and changed up their approach to suit the Individual child's needs.

sometimes parents like these make me wonder, what if their kids are depressed or anxious, especially about school? My school life was pretty rocky, and if we did grades where i went, i would definitely have been failing, but most of it was due to issues i couldnt push through at the time. I don't see how this will produce any lasting changes, I never do. The issues are at home with their families. Sorry, I just don’t think your kids should be your personal work horses. Yes they should be expected to do chores, but to make them work before school, after school, and on weekends is cruel. When do your kids get to be kids?

Wow both parents have crazy ways to raise their children. The girl of the parents with no rules obviously lashes out because she feels left behind by her mom and the boy has major father/abandonment issues The children of the military family are just being used as cheap farm hands and have no say in their life by threat of the parents taking everything away. Raising them this sheltered doesn't prepare them at all for challenges later in life, especially emotionally and psychologically. Hope all of the children turned out well.

Yet when I need help or want to do something that help I was allowed. Heck I was in FFA and it actually helped me out later in life. It is not bad. So it doesn't prepare bull. It taught me more than I ever have in school. And you know I am glad for this, my parents had my back when the school I went to tried to mess with my education. That's family bond. One of the hardest things is making them understand that they're returning to the same world they left. That they need to keep these lessons fresh in their minds every day, and not allow past habits to be taken up again. They're going back to the same friends/acquaintances and need to let go of toxic people. People who would like to drag them back to their old lifestyle. Let's face it, missoury loves company. I wish them the best.
