When clothes are too old to donate H& M has a textile recycling program. For every bag of 3 + pieces they give you a 20% off your purchase. Even if you don't shop there, it is great for the environment

Amen.Good point.We all have our own issues,struggles and successes.I really appreciate this series.I am purging now and I have sincerely repented to God for my overindulgence and shopping that I truly never realized how out of control I was.I actually sobbed as I looked around each drawer,closet and I am no where near done.Thank God for you and your inspiration.🙌🏼💞💖

Here is a little lone voice coming from Tasmania, Australia........! I’m so proud of your de-cluttering! Your secret closet of blankets issue has now been addressed, and now you have spoken out of your “failure”, move on and be thankful. A by product of the excess of blankets is some people will really appreciate those warm and fuzzies! I used to use every school holiday to go through the clothing of each child,with that child. It is a big job that you have taken on; to declutter a whole house. Be kinder to yourself and don’t burn out either❤️. Well done, you! Susan.

Girl! It’s totally relatable. We all have those spots where we have too much. My husband is insane about sports and we have way too much. I would never buy one sports thing but he’s nuts about it. Even in the same house we have different buying and hoarding habits. My worst spot is clothes.

We’ve been decluttering for around 2 years now and still at it I think it’s a never ending journey but it does get easier as things go we’re nearly there now just once a month we go around our home and see what we don’t want or use but it’s been a up and down journey and it’s been hard as well and very overwhelming good luck with it keep at it cause it’s lovely when it’s all done you get up and these hardly no tidying up to do with all the stuff gone that decluttered your home bless you xxx

This was the first video of yours I ever stumbled upon. A year ago, I was binging YT after losing our baby and I thought it might be calming to watch chaos turn to order. Then that song played, “Mostly All the Time,” and for some reason the lyrics fit in the broken places of my heart. I hunted the song down and downloaded it and actually hadn’t listened to it in a long time until this video popped up again. Rambling, but the point is to say how much your videos (because of course I binged your channel after this and have been a follower ever since) helped pull me through a dark time. So thanks. ❤️

We all have our “Monica’s closet” areas in our house and even our heads no judgment from honest and genuine people !!! A family closet in your laundry areas for the littler ones might simplify things for you!!!!!!!

Beautiful rooms. Love Rosie’s 🩰 bar and mirror. Perfect. I donated a sewing machine from my mother to a sewing camp. They name their machines so my mother is remembered. She is no longer with me but I am sure she would love the idea of starting future seamstresses. You are amazing.

I always find it very brave when people do videos like this because they show it ALL. It's so easy to watch this and go 'wow, so much stuff' but we all have a room like this. If it's not clothes or make up, it' something else. For me, it was books. Boxes and boxes of books, most of them not read and some still in the plastic package.

Who are these people giving you grief for owning a lot of stuff related to your hobby? I have a GIGANTIC cabinet full of needle felting stuff and I felt maybe 3 pieces a year. Sure, it's kind of a waste of space...but I love that when I'm feeling creative I can just go grab stuff and go for it.

I agree. I have several hobbies and it feels great to have everything I need when I need it. As a mom of 4 kids crafting is sanity for me and that is priceless. For me that's one of the things where I feel like it's worth it to spend money on, even more than travelling.

This has been the most motivating declutter series ever!! Don't pay attention to the flack. And hopefully as we declutter, it will help us to notice areas where we need to be wiser with our spending habits, or figure out WHY we are buying or storing so much. It's just a process, part of life. I own literally 6 pieces of makeup.... But I have boxes and bags of yarn everywhere... And I definitely need to pare down. Most of us have something.

I am continually decluttering and organizing. I totally agree that it it a struggle. You can do anything you set your mind to do. The beauty of organizing is that it adapts to your families changing needs.

THE STRUGGLE! Sometimes I feel like by the time I get my kids drawers decluttered they've already outgrown another 30 things. On another note, I am just exhausted by reading people's judgmental comments on how much stuff other people have. One says you have too much, another says you threw out too much. You literally can't win. I'm just enjoying your positive outlook and hoping that if nothing else, I take a little of that away with me. So happy I found your channel!

You have beautiful light for sewing or a reading nook in your bedroom. You could find a multifunctional table/build in padded seats and throw in some pillows😊

What helped when my son was younger was to hang most everything up. Shorts and jeans were on the hangers with two clips you get when you purchase pants. This way he could see what he had without having wadded up clothes in drawers.

I think it is hard for people who don't have a large family to understand why a house looks so "full". Added, I have tried so hard to keep up with decluttering but the truth is, living in this culture means stuff is constantly coming in the front door! When we got back from 5 months of living in Nicaragua for our adoption of 4 kids (ages 6, 7, 8, 9), our 9 year old went to our basement and said, "Did you BUY all that stuff?" He could not fathom a basement full of "stuff". It was a huge wake up call. ANYWAY, as a mom of 7 in a 1500 sq ft house, I GET IT!! 💐The song while you were cleaning out the blankets was PERFECT!

NO! Don’t be worried! Keep not caring! Don’t explain yourself! I loved watching your make up declutter. Knowing you blessed so many lucky people with high end make up! Yes! Wish I had a friend like you 😂😂 I wanna try high end can’t afford it, so you blessed someone like me. I keep blankets too. Come in handy if we ever went out of power!!! You’re donating the stuff so it’s not being wasted! And you can see what and where you spend and change IF you want to! Who cares it’s your life that we watch for 15-20 mins here and there!

Having 8 children will make your house a mess, it’s a simple fact that people need to realize🤷🏻‍♀️ The fact that you and your husband are amazing enough to take on the challenge of raising 8 children 110% gives you a free pass on a messy home and needing to get rid of a lot of things. Just a sidenote additional comment: I absolutely LOVE Rosie’s room, I think it is so sweet and fits her just perfect for her age & personality! Super precious!! 💗 And, I really like that all the kiddos rooms aren’t cluttered with toys and other junk, too! I just love all the personality of you & CR’s home, but maybe it’s just because I’m a Southern girl and appreciate a good ol’ Southern style home. Aww, and, I noticed in Noah & Jonah’s room, on the far left side of the bookshelves above the dresser, my girls’, who are now 14 & 15.5 years old, most favorite early childhood book - Barnyard Dance by Sandra Boynton. It brings back so many sweet memories and I think I can still quote the entire book without opening it! 😉

It is so ridiculous how many times you have to address the same things. It's also comical how people think they know more than the professional you are working with. I'm pretty sure you don't need the advice of all the keyboard commandos. As for the comments about how much stuff you own, don't sweat it, most people, especially families do accumulate loads of crap. I have a master bath and bedroom full of makeup and skincare, I own over 100 makeup pallets alone, my husband says I could easily open a Sephora, lol! Clothes are also a major weakness for me. Books, I don't even want to go there, we are a reading family and I dont like to part with them.Toys, yikes! It's really ridiculous. I'm pregnant with baby #6 and we are building an addition on to our home. You have motivated me to totally declutter and maximize space in our home, Thank you!

I have started using the 7 rule, Example : if they have more then 7 t shirts then we keep 7 and get rid of the rest. It has helped so much ☺️

Love watching these and yes to the staying on top of it. My twins are 15 mo and I feel like I can’t keep up most days and their room is a collection of boxes, of the things they have grown out of so fast. Lol. Then there’s my 6yo who totally burns through his clothes way to fast. I feel ya sister!! Thank for always being transparent with us.

Pretty much everyone I know has a closet, or cabinet full of blankets. Might be a regional thing but we have a million of them. How do you make blanket forts or have living room camping nights if you dont have an absurd number of blankets?
