OMG! When you were sitting on your bed describing yourself and how your brain works, I screamed with joy "Yes , that's exactly me and finally someone understands what I am dealing with!". Then you said what I have been thinking for years about the disconnect in the brain that is the part that makes you extra creative. Honestly, I also think that we are perfectionists. If we can't do something to perfection, we put it off and things start to pile up. Thank you for speaking so honestly about this.

@@FayeCatyeah, I’m the same and I’ve just started the process of adhd assessment. Well, general assessment, but with a mind towards adhd and cptsd, maybe autism. Even if it’s cptsd, it’s nice to know it’s not just that I’m not just stupid and lazy as I’ve been beating myself up for most of my life.

You are describing me. I was recently diagnosed with inattentive adhd and autism. You have described the neurodivergent brain. Those are all neurodivergent traits. That's how we think/act/are.

Oh I'm so glad my video has motivated you to keep working on your room!❤️ I get it, it can be so overwhelming but you've got this! Get those boxes, set your timer, and just do what you can in an hour. Put on a movie or binge watch RU-vid and that will make the time fly by. Let me know how it goes.

Here's a tip, Tracy. Begin staging like items together as you pull them out if you plan to do as she did. Or do as I am doing and pick one area to work on at a time. Work in sessions of time so you can avoid overwhelm. Reward yourself with something you want/ can afford for your studio and reward yourself after each cleaning session. Good luck! OMG, you are my crafty sister!!! I am addicted to craft supplies of all sorts also. I just found you on RU-vid and the things you said about having so many things and getting overwhelmed and having stacks of stuff in all your empty spaces is definitely me! It has become almost a hoarder situation, it makes me so upset with myself that I have left it get so out of control. I’m going to listen to all your tips n tricks n try to make myself get my apt. back in shape, I have to also go through everything I have and donate stuff I do not act use or need. My girls have said if I need something later just buy it again. I have a tough time thinking if I get rid of things n have to buy it again it’s a waste of money but maybe they are right??? I am a new subscriber to your channel and am hoping to get the motivation I need from watching you! Keep on helping people like me, I greatly appreciate it!

@@marcellakramer7118 oh sister I totally understand! I too hate to throw or even give away items I may use later but your girls are right. The mess adds more stress to our lives than those items bring us joy. I say give yourself a timeline. If you haven’t used that item in a year, it goes. If you want to really experience joy from those items, donate them to an art teacher. You have given me inspiration to set up my new craft room. My husband passed away just this past May 24th. My mom is moving in with me so that I don't have to sell my house. All my craft and sewing supplies are in the two small bedrooms at the moment and the master bedroom is my current bedroom. In order for my mom to move in, I need to move all the craft and sewing supplies from the two small bedrooms into the one big bedroom. That way, there is a bedroom for my mom, and one for me. They are tiny bedrooms and packed to the brim with all kinds of crafty and sewing stuff! So I really need to get started, but every time I go to start packing the stuff into boxes to move from room to room, I get overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I have! I'm also a messy person who likes order! I came up with a strategy to always find what I'm looking for by.... when choosing where to keep something, I stop and think 'if I was going to look for this where would I look first?' and I keep it there because that pathway in my brain tends to always choose that place first. Works really well!

It is so easy for our craft spaces to get cluttered and for us to feel overwhelmed! Just take little bites at a time and you will get through it! Put on more of my videos and binge watch while you sort! It will take your mind off of the giant task ahead of you. You can do it!

I don't know how I stumbled across your channel, but I am so glad I did! I too suffer from the "collect it all" syndrome as a mixed media artist with a quilting penchant. I went the white walls route and it is currently the storage room for everything my husband can't find a good place for including bulk toilet paper. I don't want to work in "the toilet paper pantry," so thanks for a little bit of inspiration!

"You are not alone, I am there with you, though we're far apart we share the same heart, the luv for all things crafty. We are crazy and we make the world go around lol. I'm a new sub, I'm organizing my space as well, just purchased some things from Jo Anne's and Micheal's. My living room has turned into my workspace, no couch end tables nothing. I'm building a craft box for my paper and stuff and have two amours, one for jewelry and the other for yarn and fabric. Like you I have varied interests. It's a blessing and a curse. I thought about putting the camera on me and fast forwarding it. The room looks gorgeous. You are so fortunate to have a man who is handy.

Sadly my husband passed away a couple of years ago and I ended up having to move. I only have one room I can use as a craft room right now and it is still full of boxes as storage! Hopefully one day I will have it as a craft room! In the meantime I love watching craft room tours. Love your mural and work table!

I am so happy to have found your channel! I am a fellow crafter from the Canadian Prairies 🇨🇦 who has been frustrated with craft room tours that are mainly for paper crafters. I too have a small space 9’ x 10’ to work on my oil painting, stained glass - both of which have numerous specific supplies as well as jewelry making and general crafting. Also like you I don’t like everything all white or all the same furniture but more an eclectic space. You don’t need to spend a dime. Actually, you could probably sell some of your craft supplies you don’t need anymore on Facebook marketplace and then use that money to buy some items to help you organize! You can do it! ❤️

I am also a collector of craft & stationary supplies. I have instituted a rule for myself this year. No new fabric (a particular obsession) until I use a bunch of what i have. I am allowed to purchase something in addition to my supply only IF I need it to finish a WIP. I actually started inventory of my fabric horde with a spreadsheet and I'm at a much higher number of different fabrics already than i thought, and I have a few square bins left.😬

I just saw your video and the timing is perfect. I too am a craft collector and love to create and experience exactly what you described! I am in the process of moving my craft room from a 10'x11' room down to a 7'x 9' room that does not have a closet. The former bigger room did have a closet. So it has been hard and I am emotionally challenged over what to let go of. I am still in the purging stage. I have been putting items out on our front curb with a sign "free craft items" and definitely people who really want them are helping themselves and they are so grateful! Yes we often talk to the recipients. Anyway, my new craftroom was formerly a laundry room, off the kitchen. There are 3 doors and 1 window taking up walls in my new space! So not much wall space for organization or storage. Once I am finished maybe I will create a video too, if it turns out nice enough, haha. Loved your video!! I too relate to exactly what you were saying!!!

Okay you need to watch my ikea pantry hack video! That system would work great in your room and there are so many different storage options with that system. Plus you can add the doors to it and use it like a closet. Also get things up on the wall. Those peg boards are life savers! My parents have a miscellaneous room that is kind of my mums sewing studio, used to be my craft studio, plus the storage room for laundry and all types of stuff, and we called it the chamber of horror because it was so messy xD. I recently organised alllll my art and craft supplies and since then have been a little bit obsessed with watching people do the same. You made something amazing out of that room.

I had to laugh when you said you like to watch craft room tours watching people open drawers and show all their stuff because that is what I have been doing lately. I just posted my tour this morning. I am getting ready to start building my crafting cottage so I am looking to see what systems everyone is using to figure out what will work for me when I move into my next space. Oh I am so glad you found my channel! We actually moved this fall and I no longer have this craft room. We are planning on building a she shed for me to use as my craft room. I can’t wait to see what you do. Did you get a prebuilt shed or are y’all building it yourselves? Also, if you are building it is it from a kit?

@@goodgollygal my first plan was to get a prebuilt shed but we have decided to build it ourselves because I want it a little bit bigger with an additional porch on two sides. No kit just my drawing plans. We will build it from the ground up. I want the walls to be a bit taller to accommodate large paintings because sometimes I paint on large canvases so I have what I think is an ingenious idea to create a permanent but multifunctional wall easel to allow for holding canvas a of varying sizes and at the same time give me display space for art and other things that I make. We’ll be doing lots of custom built in units and maximizing storage everywhere.

This is the BEST video I’ve seen so far to help me get organized! The way you described the stacks and sorting and needing it to be perfect…I’m that girl too! In one year I turned our bedroom into an epic episode of hoarders with all my craft supplies. Now, my son has left the dining room and I am moving in! Yay! OMGOSH, you did an amazing job! I'm older and retired now, so I've actually spent the past year getting rid of crafting items with a firm resolve to dedicate my crafting time to my paper crafting 😁. What a beautiful mess I can make with just paper. Over my lifetime I've accumulated just about every tool for working with paper. I'm in the process of organizing these items once again. I saw your video and don’t feel bad, you aren’t the only one buying craft supplies & office supplies I have the same. I am overjoyed buying all sorts of craft stuff, I have so much and my garage is full of clear bins with craft and Christmas decorations love them all am staying away from the store because I don’t have control. What a great use of space! My room is 10x10, so not much bigger, but I used to have an entire basement…😳 BIG CHANGE!! Our nephew just moved in with us, & his kids spend the weekends, so I can’t even get in the doorway to my craft room right now because that’s where “stuff” got dumped. Oh my, do I have my work cut out for me! I’m a scrapbooker, so I have the IKEA Kallax units for open storage. I also dabble in quilting, beading, and a few others. Happy crafting!!

Girl!!!! You are not alone, I swear we are the same person!! I have tons of sets of pens... Markers, colored pencils, gel pens, every type and color of sharpie probably ever made, paint pens, water color pens, uhhh I could go on and on. It started with my obsession with gel pens, that I also have tons of. Along with all the coloring books and notebooks, I couldn't live without. I love to make mandalas and use my collection of pens/markers and whatnot for making them. I use canvases or whatever I can find to make gorgeous mandalas. Anyway's lol yep, I'm actually right there with you on the entire craft hording thing. When you where explaining how you are about organizing, you also described me. Im so OCD about when I organize it ends up being a huge project. I wig out about being organized, yet I get very overwhelmed. Even though I get myself into these "everything has to be perfect" organizing sprees all the time, I hate it because I get overwhelmed and need to break everything down into steps and takes me forever. If I had nothing else to do but that I'd be fine but having a family to take care of and clean up after makes it harder. I love your channel, I literally just found it. I'm on a bing with your videos. Can't wait to see more!!

I just found this video. I've been struggling for months not knowing how to refresh my craft room because I don't use it for long before pandemic as it isn't cozy and inspiring. I bought a month ago some kallax storage furniture but felt it needed something more. Just yesterday I thought it needed legs but I hadn't decided how they would be. You've given me some ideas. Girl, I was in your shoes just a few weeks ago. I have a 10’x10’ room with a double door closet. I did just what you did. I took everything out and it took me 2 weeks to go thru everything but I finally have a functioning craft room. I am still recovering. I thru my back out toting boxes. And somehow hurt my hip but I can now craft in my room now. I’m like you, I’m into multiple crafts so every inch of my room is needed. I applaud you for getting it done.

I am inspired. I wanted you to know your paint bucket has a magnet inside by the handle that holds a paint brush with a metal ferrule. That may help if you do not have a brush with a hook.

What a great job you did! Just excellent! I have a craft room but nothing fancy. A few cubes from IKEA and a 6 ft teakwood entertainment center I’ve had since 1982.... bought on Guam!
