Join me in this episode of our extreme declutter series. Prepare yourself for the worst junk closet you may have ever seen. This declutter job took me 3 days to accomplish. I had over 3 hours of total footage when I sat down to edit. I tried to cram in all the cleaning and declutter motivation you could possibly need. Watch as I take on this disaster decluttering job and turn it around.

I love the praying over your stuff that you are finding hard to get rid of! It helps me find the peace of getting rid of stuff.

I love your progression through this video. Not just the decluttering but you. First day, you came prepared and rocked through the mess. Day two, like you said, “I’m struggling” and you were but you made it through the day. Then day three. The hair, the war paint (makeup), you were determined to finish this closet and it showed! 💖

Re: Gift wrapping A while ago I opted out of gift wrapping paper. Sortof. I only have a roll of brown paper that $tree likely still carries. You can pick any color. I jazz it up with colored ribbon. So no bin or special bags etc. For a while I kept all the gift bags but we really dont use them. Everything for wrapping presents fits into a suit protector that uses a hanger so hangs in any closet. It zips shut so keeps everything dust free. Very transportable and not an awkward pile of rolls of paper, bows, etc.

Just finished cleaning up my son's room. We have four children and my husband's fur baby kitty. The winter has made cleaning a big house challenging. I am very blessed being a stay at home wife and mother. It's having to be patient with myself.

I watch a few minimalism channels. The difference is that if something's not working they 1. Seem tuned in and 2. They move it out. Quickly. They don't put it aside or put the replacement item on top of it. Likely "one day" all our possessions will be sent to thriftstore or to the dump. That "one day" can be when your kiddos have to deal with it or you can choose the date for that "one day". The great thing about doing the declutter now, is you shift it out and you can learn something helpful for going forward --- do you need something else, if so can you borrow or get it free or cheap? --- do you already have something that will do the job as well or better? --- do you really not need that item afterall now that you've thought about it? Just a thought I had. I could see in your struggle moment these things really got to you, it's not just a game for youtube likes, it's fixing your life for the better. A very honorable activity. Thanks for sharing your process, I esp. liked when you started with the before and 2 weeks after shots of your master closet. Helps folks to join in if they see real life example. 《《《 pat on your back》》》

Thank you so much for this comment! Going through this struggle has definitely made me more aware of what I am bringing in. It feels so good to have some sort of order and less stuff DOES equal less stress and I am here for it.

The gift wrap solution is ok, but open storage looks cluttered I think. Growing up we had a gift wrap bag . It was pretty, from a hi end shop & hung on the back of the coat cupboard door . It was simple & practical: everything in one bag.

The gift papers will go even smaller when you remove the brown inside and roll just the paper. I did this with all of my giftpapers (I use them for scrapbooking too, so I have MANY). So, I removed the inside, rolled it tighter and put a elastic bad both ends. Now they stand neatly on a cereal box. :D

I have contemplated whether or not I should share my story (or at least part of it) with you. I decided this morning that I would. So years ago, I moved back east by myself and lived 14 years of absolute joy and growth in my life. I met and married my now ex-husband who decided he wanted to move back to my home state since he lived in North Carolina, his whole life. So we sold my house and moved to Colorado. Two months after we arrived here, we got news that his 19-year-old son had passed away. It was unexpected and unnecessary. We don’t know exactly what happened and the story behind that is something I will not share because it is not only very lengthy and drawn out, but it is private and too hard to share. My biker husband who is tougher than nails broke. His mind was shattered and he was never the same again. So instead of us starting our construction company here in Colorado as we plan, the next nine years were spent with me being his caregiver and trying to give him some joy and reason for living. I watched as he prayed the prayer of faith before we ever got married and I saw him rely on God up until that point. When that happened, he basically turned against God. So I was not only fighting the loss of a stepchild, but I was watching my husband give his life back to the devil. It was when he told me in those exact words that I felt the Holy Spirit tell me it was time to end our marriage. He threatened me and made my life miserable for the next few weeks. I ended up sending him on a one-way ticket back to North Carolina but not until he had spent a few days in the mental hospital due to an attempted suicide. I felt like for so long it was my responsibility to keep him alive and then I realized I couldn’t do that. It was his choice to make, and it was killing me to try to help. In the midst of the end of our marriage, we lost our beloved fur baby Harley Davison. She was a precious dog and I still miss her terribly. Also, shortly after we moved back to Colorado, my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. Again, another long story that I won’t trouble everyone with the details, but my mother was my world. I absolutely loved her and she was such a godly woman. They gave her six months, but by the grace of God, she was given almost 5 more years. What happened to be the time when my marriage failed was when my mother also was lying on her deathbed. I remember sitting by her hospital bed while she slept in a morphine induced sleep, and signing my divorce papers. My sister and I rotated 24 hour shifts over the next couple of months being at her side in the hospital. The last night of her life was on my watch. It was my birthday. She passed the next afternoon just thirty minutes after I left the entire family at the hospital to go home to rest and shower. Eight months later, Dad (who was abusive to me and Mom) fell and developed a brain bleed. He was flown out and hospitalized and in rehab for about two months. When he came home, he was combative and stubborn. He passed six months later. A few months later, I was told by my three older siblings that I had to find a place to live other than the cabin our parents told me I could stay in. The siblings wanted the cabin. So, I hurriedly bought a house and moved out with the help of a begrudgingly unkind brother who now owns the cabin. It is solely by the grace of God and the strength He gives me each and every day that I carried on. I will be sixty years old in a couple of months. I never had children and had to have a complete hysterectomy shortly after I married for the first time at 43. The depression added to my already overweight body and I continue to battle that especially being post menopausal. My doctor had prescribed me Zoloft and it did help, but I spent nearly six months pretty much in bed. Ironically, the only thing I did was clean, eat, and sleep. I kept thinking if I didn’t get through this or if someone had to come get me for medical reasons, I would be mortified if they found me living in filth and squaller. Mom always enforced the daily task of making our bed and picking up anything on the floor. Dirty clothes were put in the laundry basket. Period. She was loving and gentle, but firm at the same time. When I finally came out of that cloud of darkness, I was grateful that I pushed through the roughest times to do the tasks required to keep the house in order. As I posted once before, I see each and every step of my life part of what God has allowed and everything I have is a gift from Him. I have held fast to the mindset that to take care of those gifts honors God. It holds me to task. So, I understand the hard battles. I truly do. I just wanted you to know.

Not sure if kids would love this. Mine definitivly not. My son loves to look at the front side and to talk about the kids who were playing that very game. So check with your kids first before you decide to change to reusable plastic bags 🤔😀

Just remember in future that empty space is functional and doesnt need to be filled 😊 like shelves floorspace etc. Empty space actually makes the areas around it MORE functional because youre better able to see things use things organise and move them around and if all the spaces are filled then itll end up shoved together or dumped on the floor and things will be forgotten and misplaced and essentially dead because things get life through being used if they are just in a cupboard somewhere or "decor" because you dont want to get rid of it but dont use it for its intended purpose then theyre adding no value to your life your home and actually xost time energy and money to maintain transport store etc they take up valuable realestate that should be left open for more important things like board games for family time etc

Kudos darling! I have a Monica Closet to clean out! 🤪 I am playing the Minimalism Game this month with some other youtubers. It’s very motivating! One thing day 1, two things day 2 etc. You are doing a great job! 💜💜💜 My Monica closet is underneath the stairs too.

What do you think of the VACMOP? I want to get one for my trailer so I don’t need a vacuum and mopping supplies.

I give it a 9/10. The only thing I wish was an option is a reusable mop pad. Logistically I see how that would be an issue since the debris is vacuumed up into the mop pad, but I just cringe a little buying new pads and throwing them away. I definitely recommend.
