Hello guys from countries where it is cold and a lot of diesels, please learn to use diesels, there are diesels before you start, you need to wait until the spiral on the instrument panel goes out, otherwise you will break your diesel engine so quickly, or the whole car will become unusable Good luck sisters and brothers.
The Pajero in this Video started much better than the 2800 intercooler Diesel from the old Pajeros. I remember the hard fights at -20°C. Mostly the Engine started at one Cylindre and then the other Cylindres decided slowly to wake up.
@@adri593 It's one of the best and most reliable small diesel engines there is, which is why it's been used for over 15 years now. What are you smoking?
I wondered why my '76 Peugeot had such a big battery. It took it about 2 minutes to start at 19 degrees Fahrenheit (Mammoth California) and at least 30 minutes before it stopped belching black smoke. My 1980 Oldsmobile diesel started instantly (without waiting for the glow plugs) at about the same temperature in Lake Tahoe California, but I unloaded that car quickly because I knew the engine wouldn't last.
@@stanleyreynolds7800 Well, your car, so im pretty sure you know better :D but 2 minutes of cranking and 30 minutes of leaving a black smoke cloud at mere 19f (-7*C) though... to me it seems crazy. Guess I wasn't hanging around diesels so old enough to know them all ^^ Cheers!
Those new diesels are so excellent at cold starting they're almost boring. =)) But no worries, something for something. Entertainment starts when sh*t starts to go wrong in those new overcomplicated diesels.
Shelby maybe not so terrible but imagine starting a Ferrari. That would be SO BAD for that high strung N/A engine. ( saying ferrari i have 355, 360, 550, enzo and others from their ages on my mind)
Yes, their newest, most advanced diesels are amazing at cold starting. Wait until shit starts going wrong with them. Then... you can buy some older whole driving BMWs with diesel engines for the price of a repair on those newest units.
i like that reving on the passat cc after the cold start xD. Btw for the ford escort 1.8d in my country people say ford and gypsy don't work in winter :D
ahhahaha ford i cigan ne radi zimu? :D i forgot balkan language too much :( pozdrav iz poljske :D other fords seem to start ok but the 1.8d in particular was said many times to be horrible, not only in cold start field
In most cars, pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floor makes the car essentially disconnect the fuel injectors but that’s on newer models... as for why it took a while for it to start I have no clue
Alex Martin Can’t be that, I know a friend’s Sorento who can start up easily in -34 conditions while it gets choked up like in the video if he’s running cheaper diesel
So are they pumping the accelerator when trying to start? I know the modern ones up the fuel mix for cold but do people press the pedal aswell? Warm climate commenter here...
No you should not with a modern car. Just make sure to change oil, fuelfilters and oil filter regulary and use winter diesel for diesels. Basically good maintenance.
ah yes the ford 1.8D engine, they are hard to start even when new, and they don't last longer neither, here in Argentina are many of this engines with various modifications and no one seems to work
I had a Ford Orion with the same 1.8D engine that the escort has at 11:18 . It was a total bitch to start when its below -10. All glow plugs were fine, battery was brand new, but i still had to call a mate to tow it to start it. Until i installed a oneway valve on the fuel line, after installing it, it wasnt such a hassle to start it. Three times ignition to get the glow plugs heated up and started on a second or third attempt.
I am a bit disappointed that an UAZ (and in other videos LADAs) seem to have more trouble then e.g. a FIAT Stilo or the Renault Megane. I was expecting that Italien or french cars (from relatively warm countries) might have troubles.
FIAT and Renault are also huge automakers with the resources to finance extreme temperature testing and engineering departments that can design starting systems to compensate.
3 years back I had a Citroen ZX 1.9TD (1996 engine DHY), in the morning after the night shift 6:00 -20C ° -25C ° everyone in the parking lot was just spinning, I for one turn
I simply preheat 3-4 times when its bellow - 20°C. Haven't had trouble with batteries how NG down and not able to start. And give some throttle only after a couple of seconds kicking.
There's some cars in which the dashboards are shared between gas and diesel versions. Lots of Fiat for instance, and some Dacias too. So yeah shit like that can happen XD I don't know if it's a mislabeled video clip or just one of those occurrences :P
@@dariopiovani5077 oh, and for the record heavily tuned diesels can rev to around that, there was a video of a fiat 1.3 multijet @ 280hp and 6300rpm rev cut /watch?v=W26bBGc4oX4&t=295s
Дуракам противопоказан дизель, у меня всегда заводился, перед запуском надо прогреть свечи, если очень холодно, то можно и два раза. Всегда заводился с полуоборота.
@@ChrisMiller223 It's 10 LITERS per 100Km, not Km per liter. And if you didn't get that wrong know that the whole point of diesel is to have better fuel economy, if you do 14l/100km you might as well have picked up a petrol engine
@@ilpatongi I bought the 640d because it's great for a daily and diesel engines have more torque when it comes to accelerating, i didn't get that wrong, and for a petrol engine I'm good with my gla 45
@@ChrisMiller223 Yeah but diesel is shit, and for that fuel economy it's not even worth it. Diesel engines deliver all their torque at low RPM, after 3000 RPM you basically get nothing, it's worse for acceleration
@@ilpatongi If he picked up a petrol with equivalent performance, it probably wouldn't be 13-14 but 20-25L/100km 2) 10 km/l and 10l/100km is pretty much the same LOL 3) we don't know his driving style. Maybe he loves the diesel torque in city and isn't fond of high rpm screamers like I am...
For all the diesel drivers there is a key position in your car to prehead the engine just use it... The engine needs this before you turn they key complete around... people are so dump..
Motyvating to get gasoline car instead of diesel. Kle kle kle, kle kle kle.. Burning starter motor smell and high revs after cold start. Thumbs up for me.
idiots. it is necessary to set the alarm with autorun from the temperature. you set it to -12C(for example) and when the engine reaches this temperature, it starts and warms up.at the same time, the fuel warms up the filter.alarm systems, such as STARLINE A93.I used it myself on a diesel engine and I advise everyone. in -35, no one left the yard.I started everything calmly and went to work, because at night the engine itself started and warmed up.
